Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about the park. The equipment is simple and easy to use. The kayaks have rudders. The sack lunch was good. We had excellent weather and light breezes. It's a little bit of a workout, so be prepared to paddle a bit. If this old guy can do it, you can too.

This trip exceeded our expectations. We are on our late 70’s and we had no problem paddling the kayak. Our guide Bryan could not have been better. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and history and this added immeasurably to our trip. We had one mother and her son in our group that struggled and he handled this delicate situation with tact and grace! This day trip should be included in your stay and you will finish it with a deeper knowledge of Yellowstone and having visited the geyser basin from the water.

Our family of four (kids aged 14-18) took the Day Trip with Brian and Tim on July 10. Fantastic. Brian was very informative and educational, and both were really friendly and accommodating. They engaged with everyone on the trip and truly wanted all to have a great time. They remembered that one child had a peanut allergy so they provided a non-allergic lunch. They lunch they served was filling and well-balanced. What was also cool was that they provided "dry bags"for us to store extra clothing in, and they also offered extra jackets just in case anyone needed them. Overall a very cool and memorable adventure. Thank you so much Brian and Tim!

This was fantastic. Our guides, Noah and Brian (I think), were both awesome. They made sure we were safe and comfortable in our kayaks, and entertained us the entire way. The lake was beautiful, and we had a really great time. Would definitely recommend.

Awesome day with wonderful guides! We were gifted with an unusually calm day on Yellowstone Lake! Our guides Brian and Jonathan gave us an introduction to the geography of the lake and the area. They also gave us a nice intro to paddling. We paddled 3 miles up and back along the west shore of the thumb of Yellowstone Lake. It was beautiful with the highlight being the geothermal geysers along the shore- one of which put on a show right in front of us! Our guides knew it was ready to blow by the steam output and sure enough, it blew! Our guides were great and did not try to rush us away. Lunch was very good. Nice day of paddling with and awesome crew! We would do this again!

What a day! This is a very unique opportunity to kayak in Yellowstone and perhaps the only place in the world to view geothermal features from the water. We brought our family of 5, ranging in age from 4 to 71, with 2 double and 1 single kayak. The highlight of the experience is interacting with the incredible guides. Garrett and Tom led our trip and were both fantastic - they had such depth of knowledge about the area given their science and geology backgrounds. The distance is about 6 miles total. We had a glassy first 4 miles including the geothermal features and a pit stop for delicious lunch, followed by a choppy final 2 miles. I was impressed that the guides stayed with the paddlers and didn't leave anyone straggling behind, even in the more challenging weather. Would highly recommend.

We kayaked with Geyser Kayak Tours in late August 2022. Our guides Garrett and Tom were super friendly and personable. As others have mentioned these guys are WAY over qualified - a geologist and former science teacher (!) - and very very knowledgeable about the park. Their description of thermal features, stories about the park history, etc. added to our experience of Yellowstone. We had a fairly large group on our tour and it took quite while to get out on the water - we had arrived as requested before 8:45 am for a 9 am tour. We started paddling around 10 am and returned by 1:30 pm. The return paddle was a wee bit rushed because of incoming storms that the guides (and we !) wanted to avoid. The paddling itself was quite manageable for anyone with a bit of kayaking experience who is in reasonable shape. Does depend which way the wind is blowing though! The lunch provided plenty of food (sandwich, fruit and snacks) although you can't specify what you get so be forewarned if you have picky children like we do. We enjoyed the tour and thought Garrett and Tom were fantastic. It is an expensive activity - close to $700 for the four of us. It's the only way to get on the lake as tourists, however, unless you bring your own boat (hard to do if you are flying!) because they do not rent kayaks, etc. on Lake Yellowstone. So bottom line - a guided tour is the only game in town and it's great but pricey.

Tom and Garrett met us at the lake shore, After a thorough briefing we got our safety gear and climbed into our Kayaks. The lake was like a mirror and we set off towards the Geyser Basin. One of our group spotted an elk swimming in the lake straight ahead of us. We hired one double Kayak and a single. The paddle was relaxed as the group consisted of 9 kayaks with folks of different age groups and abilities including the two guides. If you want to explore this location I doubt you could do better than be guided by a former science teacher (Garrett) and a geologist (Tom) they took turns to inform us all through the trip. They brought a delicious packed lunch with plenty of variety for everyone which we ate on a deserted beach. I’d thoroughly recommend these guys, they really added to the day.

The guide was super careful and knowledgeable. Some is us have masters more than one , degrees. My husband and I go to a lot of parks. Not too many water explorations but he was great and gently let everyone know when to mind the rules. Rules that some us broke because of inexperience

This morning to afternoon trip on Yellowstone Lake was really lovely. We did this tour on the last Friday in July. We were told we had a smaller group than usual, which was, for us, a nice surprise. The highlights were, 1) coasting on the clear and gentle waters of the lake along its gorgeous shoreline. 2) the guides were amazing. Garrett and Brian were extremely knowledgeable about both the science and the history of the lake and the entire basin itself, and expressed their passion for and need to protect these unique and wild places. They were professional, personable, and fun to be around. The group was given the basics on paddling and posture within the kayak, which was appreciated. 3) history of the region and the geyser basin. 4. We appreciated the deli-style lunch break taken on the shores of the lake. We've kayaked several times on both lake and open ocean before, and did not find this outing difficult or overly strenuous, and could instead focus on the scenery and the guides' information (and jokes). We were told that it can get a bit choppy, so possibly we had calmer conditions than other days. It was a total of 6 miles, paddling about 4 of these before lunch. Perfect. We loved our experience, and would certainly recommend this as a special experience in this aw-inspiring park. Thank you Geyser Kayak Tours, Garrett and Brian!

This was so much fun. Ryan was the most well-researched, passionate guide we have had on any type of guided trip, ever. The scenery was spectacular, too, of course, but what we learned from him about the history and geology of the lake and geysers was somehow even more of a highlight than all of the natural landscape that we paddled through.
