Daniel, (my tour guide from the Kayak on the River) was so helpful & I had a great time. The kayaking was about an hour & it was a nice change from the busy & noisy Golden tourist Zone. He made sure I was okay as we headed over the many rapids, and made a point to answer all my questions about the local birds, wildlife & vegetation. All the staff were super friendly & helpful and I had a fantastic lunch at the end. Fully recommend.

This was a TERRIBLE way to waste a day of my vacation! I would pay double the entire cost of this tour to have this day back. The night before the trip, I double checked that they had my address and understood I was staying at an AirBnB, not a hotel. They said they understood. I was outside waiting for the pickup 10 minutes before the scheduled time. They never showed. 30 minutes later I called. They said I wasn't there when they came to pick me up. (A lie!) They advised me to get a taxi to their office where the group was still gathering. They agreed to pay for the taxi. (They did not!) I phoned in the taxi saying I was on my way and exactly when I would arrive. But, when I got there, they said the bus with the group had just left without me. They then hired a taxi to take me to where the group in the bus was being dropped off. I was sharing the taxi with a family who had also been waiting at their agreed upon time and place and had also been told they weren't there. But this family was going on an entirely different tour. We were told the drop off point was the same for both tours. It was a 90 minute drive. (This was double the amount of time we were all expecting.) When we got to the drop off point, after several tense confusing minutes, I was told I should have gotten out 20 minutes earlier at the kayak drop off point, but that if I waited 20 minutes, all would be well. An hour and a half later, I was added to a different group of kayakers. We all then had a pleasant 2 hour Kayak trip. By the time it was over and we were back at the drop off point, it was 3:30 pm and I had not had a thing to eat all day. I asked about the included lunch. They explained that the group I had been added to had eaten the included lunch before kayaking (while I was waiting for an hour and a half, just 30 yards away). They did bring me 2 small quesadillas and a soda. But I had seen the lunch the group had been finishing when I was added. It was MUCH larger and MUCH nicer. They left behind more food than I was served. I asked for more. (I was starving!) But they said the food service was over. The taxi driver that had taken me there had been waiting all this time to take me back. He said it was time to go. So, while the group I had been added to went on the included tequila tasting, I had to leave for the 90 minute ride home. It was a full 8 hour day of aggravation, confusion, boredom and hunger, with a decent, but unspectacular, 2 hour kayak trip in the middle. I missed most of the included meal and all of the included tequila tasting. I had to pay for part of my transportation, which was also supposed to be included. I messaged them asking for a 50% refund. I thought this was more than reasonable. I never heard back from them.

The trip down the river was beautiful. The meal was scrumptious and plentiful. The drive from Mazatlan to the starting point was much longer than I realized; this was the reason for a 4 instead of a 5. Daniel (the river guide) and Xavier (the driver from the restaurant to the launching area) were both terrific - helpful and affable!

Good lunch and Peaceful kayak down the Emporio River for 90mins. Picked up and dropped off on time, longish drive (as expected) in comfortable air conditoned minibus. However..little info in English about the countryside through which we passed, and similarly we were left to kayak in the group - but no chat about flora& fauna as we travelled downstream. Mild rapids in April - min child age I would estimate as 12-13yo. Tequila "tour" was a small well stocked shop with tasting, but no info on manufacture.

We kayaked with my family of 5. Kids are 7, 10, and 11. They have kayaked a few times before so I would say they have a decent amount of experience on the water already. The river was very low and I scraped bottom in several spots. This would probably be a little scary for a beginner, but was totally fine. There were some very minor rapids even at the low water level in April. So it's not flat calm, but I guess you would call it a class 1 rapid or 0.5 class if they go that low. The guides did say if you go in the fall the river runs a lot higher and I'm assuming there would be more rapids. The guides were good (one in the front to follow his path, and one in the back to catch any stragglers). They didn't reach you how to kayak, they just showed you the path. Then you had to walk it. It was perfect for us. Lunch in the town was amazing and so authentic. Sampling the tequila made right in the village was so fun. All the tours from this small village end back at the same area and you all have lunch together. The only bad thing I have to say is about the ride from Mazatlan to the town and back. It's a bit of a hike and one of my kids was getting car sick on the mountain roads. Not anything they can do about that, but something to be aware of. The transportation itself if a nice Mercedes shuttle bus.

The river was beautiful and teeming with lots of bird life. The lunch beforehand was authentic, delicious Mexican food. I only wish we had more interaction with the river guide. He made sure we were safe of course, but unfortunately didn,t share anything about what we were seeing.

The kayaking was pretty easy. I did dump at the first rapids at the very beginning. Fortunately, the lake was shallow. The food for lunch was delicious, people were all friendly and took good care of us. We viewed a few birds.

Tour was fun, it’s a beautiful scenery, then afterwards the lunch was delicious and the mezcal tasting was really nice, It’s a little tough for younger kids, it’s a solo thing, my youngest was 11 and made it

This is an absolutely must do activity if you visit Mazatlan. The guides are friendly and incredibly helpful you will kayak down several Myers miles of the presidio River being exposed to natural wildlife and even a few rapids. Highly highly recommend this

I’m so glad we booked this tour. The scenery was beautiful and the wildlife was plentiful. Many species of birds, including herons, cranes, and ducks. It was interesting to see the cattle along the edges of the river. The kayaks were the sit - on style. They were fine although when going over the rapids, you were guaranteed to have water in your kayak. So a change of clothes would be a good idea. The rapids weren’t bad but a little scary for first timers. Of which we had two in our group , including an 80-year-old woman! I have to say, she’s not your average 80-year-old. Very healthy and fit. The lunch, after kayaking was wonderful! Delicious burritos, homemade tortillas with frijoles and pico de gallo, guacamole, and chilies. It was so delicious! And to top it off, we had flaming cheese with shredded carrots.

If you're not on a cruise ship, you probably won't get to do this. We tried to contact them several ways--phone, email, instagram--no answer. We finally reached them via chat and they said they were available every day, so when we tried to book they were not available, They tried to substitute a lame alternative which basically involved paddling a kayak to nowhere interesting on our own.

We had 4 in our group. 2 were experienced, 2 were not. I was asked when I booked if I needed an English or Spanish speaking guide, and I chose English. They gave us absolutely NO instruction whatsoever, just put our life jackets on and pushed us out which wasn't cool for the 2 people who had no idea what they were doing, trying to keep the current from taking them down while waiting for everyone else to get on their kayaks. Then the guy who spoke english stayed on the shore at first and sent us out with a guy who spoke no English. He did come and catch up eventually, but it made no difference! We still were getting no instruction. The only things he would say was "rapids, follow the guide". But then they would be so far ahead of the group, no one could actually watch them and see what path they took. Or they were complaining about wanting us to go faster. Sure, it could have been a little faster, but again, we had 2 in our group who had literally never even rowed a boat and we we all know, there's a technique to it that takes a little figuring out so we were trying to teach them the first several minutes as well. Eventually, my sister in law went over on some rapids, and those of us who were experienced knew she was safe and she would be fine, but she didn't! She completely panicked and was holding on to her kayak for dear life, just crying, and they sat there on their kayaks telling her she was fine and left us all to help her. Anytime someone needed assistance, they left us to go back and help each there. My sister in laws kayak kept taking in water after that and she was sinking. Eventually we got her to the shore and her partner switched kayaks with her. Again, the guides sat in their kayaks ahead of us watching. When we got to end and out of the water, they pulled the plug, and literally, a couple gallons of water came pouring out of the inner shell of the kayak! We were all like, seriously!? In the end, the 2 of us who were experienced loved it. The 2 who were not.. not so much. If you have people in your group who know nothing about rowing, I would not start here. They will teach you nothing! The lunch was great in the end. The tequila tour was pretty lame in comparison to the others I've done here. They point to an agave plant, tell you the process really quick in 60 seconds and you get to pick 1 or 2 to try. Most walk you through the process and it's typically pretty interesting, then you get to try every flavor. Overall, in the end we were left feeling like what did we even pay these guides for, we were basically on that water alone!

I booked this for me and my dad who is a fairly fit senior. From the description I figured it would be pretty doable and my dad was excited about this. It was a pretty hot and sunny day in mazatlan - the ride to the Presidio River was about an hour from the cruise port and we did this excursion with one couple from our ship. The couple (who were a bit heavy was having problems staying afloat on their kayaks) ended up staying back so it was just me and my dad with one of the guides. The river was fairly gentle though there were some mild rapids - the kayaks were easy to operate but my dad still went over when he lost control of his kayak after hitting some rapids. The issue was our guide didn’t really speak English and while I tried to follow our guides path on the river, my dad didn’t realize that following him exactly was a must - otherwise you can hit some rapids wrong or end up on an area with low water levels and get stranded on rocks (both happened to my dad). After going over and paddling for 2 hours, my dad was wet, exhausted and sunburnt - he wasn’t happy :/ I did enjoy the trip - the rapids were fun and seeing all the birds was nice - but it was too much for my dad. The nice couple who couldn’t do the excursion were apparently left there with the guide and they had to pick them up afterwards where they took the 4 of us to lunch at the restaurant operated by the tour company. The spread was tasty, more food than 6 people could eat included beer, margarita or soft drinks. Afterwards it was another long drive back to the port. It was definitely a long day - nice but prob needed more guidance from our guides.

Cool ride once out of Mazatlán through authentic rural Mexican villages to the most quaint, Veranos. We had time before kayaking and enjoyed the beautiful hot springs pools and tequila distillery. The river was very pretty with small rapids. We saw a cow swimming, a ring tail forest cat and many cool birds. When finished, we had the best meal of our week in Mexico! Best day!

The operator confirmed time and pick up but did not show. I called the number and no one answered. Viator also tried to assist but wasn’t able to reach them either. They refunded the tour. The tour operator contacted me via email 90 minutes after our original pick up time to ask if we wanted to still take the tour. We had already started on alternate plans. I would have booked for another day but we were leaving the next day.

What a great excursion! So nice to get out into the countryside. The kayaking was so much fun. The guides lead us through the gentle rapids and pointed out wildlife as we went. We were served a fabulous lunch afterwards. Everyone involved, including the coach driver, was upbeat and seemed happy to have us.
