My son and I had never surfed before. Our teacher Kohl had a lot of patience with us total beginners. I was never able to stand up on the board (old guy) but my son did several times and he had an awesome time (my goal). My son says it was a 5 star experience because: "Kohl gave us great instructions before we even got into the ocean. He was very encouraging when there was something we could do better."

Our experience learning to surf was nothing short of spectacular! All the staff were reassuring and welcoming. Bridget and Aunty Lynn were warm and kind. Our whole family took a lesson with Sean. He was fun and very skilled at teaching people how to surf for the first time. We are two 50-year-old parents and two teenage kids (Ages 14 and 16). The kids found confidence on the waves. All four of us repeatedly got to ride waves!!! As soon as we were done we were so excited we rented boards so we could spend the whole day surfing in beautiful Hanalei Bay. A truly spectacular experience!

Highly recommend Hawaiian Surfing Adventures! Mitchell made our first lesson fantastic with his patience and personable approach. My husband and daughter had a blast catching their first waves. A definite must-do activity!

We had so much fun learning to surf with Kohl and Hawaiian Surfing Adventures! We were a multigenerational group, with ages ranging from 9 to 68, and we all had great fun and great success learning to surf! We were all able to ride waves all the way in, and had so much fun that we also rented a surf board from HSA for 3 additional days of surfing on our own. I can't think of a better place to learn to surf than Hanalei Bay. Thank you Kohl and HSA!!!

Kohl was a great instructor and all 4 of us got standing the first time! We ended up renting a surf board a total of 3 days from this shop and will rent from them again

We had a great time at our surf lesson! Jack, Sean, and Kohl were amazing instructors- my son got up on his first wave! The staff are all friendly and helpful. Lynn, drove us to the pier and was fun to talk to. Can’t say enough about the simple instructions that lead to a successful day of surfing on Kauai. Highly recommend Hawaiian Surfing Adventures!

Luka was so cool and was such a great instructor. Hawaiian Surfing Adventures was easy to locate and check-in. They provided wet suits for us, and gave us easy directions on where to park and find our instructor. Luka was easy to learn from and taught us well enough for us both to get up on the board, catch wave after wave and surf!!! It was so fun. Definitely would recommend surfing to anyone visiting Hawaii for the first time, and surf lessons for anyone who has never surfed before.

Of all the fun things we've done on Kauai, this was the best! Mitchell was an amazing instructor. We had 2 adults and 2 children. The kids took to surfing immediately. With a little coaching, Mitchell even had two out-of-shape adults surfing. He was very encouraging and great with both age groups. We were curious about the local culture and history. Mitchell was born and raised in Hanalei so he was able to share local information with us too. That was an added bonus. These guys are the embodiment of Aloha Spirit. If you do anything at all on Kauai, make sure this is on your list!

We had never surfed before and decided on Hawaiian Surfing Adventures to help us navigate the skills of surfing. Check-in was easy and there were several nice folks to greet us and give us confidence as beginners. Tapu was our instructor, and he was excellent and took us through the basics while on the beach and then to the surf. It took a few waves for the instructions to sink in, but after that, we were riding waves. Tapu was always encouraging when we did have a wipeout, and the more we surfed, the more we learned. It was a great experience.

This was a top notch experience, exceeding even my lofty expectations! Everything was professionally yet personally done, from the check in process, shuttle ride to the surf site, the on land instruction, to catching some waves! And our instructor Evan was incredible! With just myself and brother-in-law in our private group, Evan had us up in no time which allowed for more coaching and guidance to really take in and enjoy our experience. Only downside was it had to end!

We had a great experience with Hawaiian Surfing Adventures! The staff was super friendly and helpful, and they shuttled us between the surf shop and the bay. The instructors were very friendly and knowledgeable.

Cole was an excellent instructor - He had me up on my second try and I was able to take several runs all the way to the beach during the lesson. He was very patient and has an great attitude!

Went with Jack, had a great time and got up super quickly. Great spot, though it has many local beginners, but that can't be avoided in that bay. Great price for the time. Some instructions from Jack were a little hard to understand his intent, like when to come to him and when to do our own thing, and he missed some bits of information that were given only once I got toppled by a wave. Regardless of that though, great energy, local knowledge, friendly and informative. Stellar experience to end our trip on

Fabulous! It was a trip for my 60th birthday with my daughters. Sean was our instructor and was a perfect match for us! My favorite excursion!

All staff were super friendly and helpful. The online check-in and online release forms made everything smooth. OG Nate was a great instructor and helped our daughter and friend stand up and surf numerous times during the lesson duration. They both can't wait to rent boards and surf all day in Hanalei Bay!.
