On November 25, 2023 we visited Katakolon and Olympia. I believe Elena was our tour guide. She was excellent. We met the small bus as expected, and proceeded to Olympia. Since it was raining, Elena suggested that we visit the museum first. This was a great idea, since we were able to properly orient ourselves to the ancient site. Elena was extremely knowledgeable about what we were seeing, and immersed us in the 400's BC time period. We learned a great deal about the Greek gods and how they were very important to the original games. The site has been extensively excavated, and many of the statues were in the museum. The rain stopped and we proceeded to the site. It was breathtaking. We walked where the ancient athletes walked. History came to life in the words from Elena. On the way back to the ship, we stopped at a store that had Olive Oil and honey tasting. A nice place, and the stop was not too long. A great day!

Small group tour of 14. Our guide Elena met us at the port and provided us with so much information about the history of her beautiful country. Our visit of the Olympia site and museums were so interesting, the sites are so big you could spend hours wandering around the grounds and museum. After our visit to Olympia we had a wonderful little stop for olive oil and honey tasting, so many options to choose from and the prices were not bad at all.

Our tour guide, Joan, was very informative about the area as we made our way to the Archaeological Museum and Olympia. Joan handed it off to Maria,, who took us around the museum and shared her knowledge. She then walked with us through Olympia, the site of the first Olympics. She gave us details about the site and then let us try our hand at the stadium. Joan took the reins as we headed to the olive oil tasting market. It was very nice. All in all, it was a very good day!

The pick-up from the port was ready and on time. As promised, the tickets were available on site. Do bring a hat, it is hot and sunny even in mid September.

Elias was an exceptional guide. He shared first-hand archeological experience, and we left with an understanding of how the parts of the very large Olympia site came together.

I thought this tour experience was excellent from start to finish. This is a family tour company from the area and they had the inside ‘scoop’ on how to do this tour. When I signed up for the tour, I got reassurance through emails from the owner of the company so I always felt someone would be at the port waiting for me. The group was small and the driver was excellent getting us there with plenty of time before all the cruise ship buses got there. The tour guide was someone who majored in archeology and was excellent. The stop at the market was excellent. Try the Blood Orange Olive oil. They were very accommodating. The last 40 minutes of the tour we had time to stop for a quick lunch! Highly recommend!!!!!

10/10 experience! My family and I had such a pleasant time with Elena as our tour guide. She was so informative and enjoyable. The olive oil, wine, and olive tasting at the end was so fun! Would definitely recommend this tour to all who are interested in learning more about the history and culture of Olympia!

We absolutely loved this excursion and the tour guide (one of the owners) and driver were excellent! Please don't stay on the cruise ship or heaven forbid just go to the port! I've seen a number of museums in Italy and the Baltic Sea areas but I have never seen a museum like the one at Olympia. What was uncovered during the excavation of the Olympia site is a miracle and the main museum is brimming with these treasures! Do not miss this tour!

We we enjoyed our day with a pleasant guide and courteous driver. We visited the honey farm, the Olympics site, the archaeological Museum, and an olive oil shop. We especially enjoyed the Klio Honey farm which was an authentic working farm hosted by a lovely woman. The only thing that could have been improved would have been if we had a licensed tour guide for the Olympics site and the museum, but it was clearly stated upfront when booking that that was not included. We were glad to avoid the crowded tour buses and zip through places quickly.

Highly recommend this small group tour. Zoe was a great guide--a Katakolon native, she knew her history and was welcoming and authentic. The tour took in the highlights of Olympia with wonderful story-telling, the local museum, and a fantastic olive oil shop. Really enjoyed the entire experience!

Our wonderful guide, Zoe Stavropoulou, with The Travel Insiders, was the one who led our group of 8 to the ancient site at Olympia, the beautiful museum there, a local restaurant/store for wine and olive oil tasting, and other local attractions for about five hours. I highly recommend Zoe and her company. She was warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable.

I booked this excursion months in advance. Directions and confirmations were sent to us by the agency in timely manner. Our guide, Elena, was very knowledgeable and kind. She even waited for a family who was running late. This tour is an excellent way to see Olympia. We even stopped to have a wine and olive oil tasting which was delightful! Tour was about 5 hours and you had the option of being dropped off by your ship or in Katakolon to do any shopping. Definitely money and time well spent!

Our group of 10 travelers enjoyed our day in Olympia with Elena with a tour of the Ancient Olympic sites and a stop for olive oil tasting and shopping along with lunch. Elena and our driver were flexible on our itinerary which allowed for our group to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the Olympic sites and museum. Having a private guide is such an important element to any port visit! Thank you for your time and your knowledge! ERIC

This was the best thing we did! Our tour guide, Despina, was the best! LOVED her! The olive oil tasting was amazing. Not a tourist stop. Takis was a perfect host. We bought wine and olives and sweets and olive oil. We had lots of time in Ancient Olympia, and even time for a stop for lunch. It was a perfect day! Again, thank you to Despina!
