Absolutely awesome day with Captain Jack. Loads of great history and entertaining stories, as well as interaction with lots of local wildlife. Heartily recommend.

Perch the Pelican welcomed us on the jetty and she loved the attention, photos and her fish rewards. The birdlife was fantastic! Loved the race between the Pelicans and Sea Eagles to see who got to the fish first. Result was 50/50. Captain Jack was knowledgeable on the history of the Albany region the birdlife and the Kalgan River. He threw in some light and humorous anecdotes as well as reciting some of his own poems! We devoured the yummy damper Jack's mum made (thanks Jack's mum!). Met some lovely people. All in all a great day!

This was one of highlights of our weekend Jack is knowledgeable, very entertaining, And it was amazing to hear about the bird life and history of Albany .

A bit late with my review! We did this cruise twice in September 2023. Was hopeful, without any particular expectation, bird photography wise, but was blown away by the opportunities that presented themselves on each of the cruises that we went on. Apart from the birds, the whole experience was very relaxing and enjoyable. The captain, 'Captain Jack', maintained commentary and conversation throughout and was both knowledgeable and entertaining. The refreshments that were included, tea or coffee and homemade damper, together with local strawberries and honey, were very welcome. Again, I would highly recommend!

As per usual first class. Excellent commentary. Damper very tasty. Fourth trip on this tour. Highly recommend. Well worth the money. A perfect way to spend half a day.

Highly recommend this tour. Jack is passionate about his boat and tour and makes it a very enjoyable experience. We saw sea eagles, osprey, and other water birds along with dolphins and a seal. The family of pelicans at the jetty is the closest I’ve come to these majestic birds. Hot drinks, oysters, strawberries and savory damper are all part of the experience. Jack was very mindful of our comfort- it was cold in the wind, shutting or opening window blinds as needed. Well done Jack.

Fantastic tour - informative and fun. Such a beautiful day to cruise on the water. Captain Jack was a wealth of information about the local area, all provided with a great sense of humour and hospitality. We tried the local oysters, strawberries, honey and freshly baked savoury damper with a steaming hot coffee. We saw pelicans, sea eagles, ospreys, kingfishers, egrets and stingrays. Such a calm and enjoyable way to see this area. Highly recommend this tour.

Captain Jack is a brilliant entertainer as well as having fantastic historical and wildlife knowledge. The interaction with the wildlife was impressive, while remaining sensitive to wildlife needs. The stories around historical facts, were very knowledgeable. We learnt so much about this area. Thoroughly recommend. Such an enjoyable 4 hours. Well priced

We took our history sponge 8 year old girl on this local river cruise and all loved it. A true local and unique business offering something different to do in the Albany area. Lots of information delivered in a fun way. The damper was indeed fantastic, though is just one piece of the overall package which comes together as a fun family outing. Do take warm layers to wear! can be chilly on the open water even though Cpt. Jack makes it look like a warm summers day!

My husband and I spent a very pleasant 4 hours with Jack on The Kalgan Queen. We were treated to the antics of some very friendly pelicans and watched as sea eagles and ospreys came down to swoop on Jack’s plentiful supply of fish. Thanks for a great morning made all the more enjoyable by Jack’s many humorous stories! Yummy damper!! Teresa and Bill

This cruise was amazing. We did it off a cruise boat. Jack was informative and funny. The wildlife was spectacular feeding the osprey and pelicans was so cool. Totally recommended.

The trip on the Kalgan Queen was highly enjoyable. Terrible weather but still worth the effort. Jack the tour guide was highly informative, entertaining and a great group presenter. The wildlife seen was fantastic with eagles swooping on fish as well as pelicans, cormorants , espreys and stingrays. The coffee and damper given was very nice. We also had the opportunity to taste fresh Albany oysters and strawberries. Highly recommended. Terrific 4 hours.
