Maddie has the perfect blend of food and historical knowledge of Philly's food scene and how the neighborhoods in S. Philly evolved. Our family had a great day with her on a private tour and were surprised by each stop - some we had heard of and some we had not. There was a nice range of ethnicities in the mix and despite the cold December day, it was a nice walk around one of Philly's most iconic areas. As a journalist, she brings a depth of knowledge, storytelling, and insight to the food experiences that just made the whole experience feel culturally rich and valuable beyond the great things we ate. That said, the food was also great, and the choice of places we stopped illustrated to wide range of cuisine that defines Philly's food scene. In short, it was a great experience. Highly recommend.

Although we have spent a great deal of time in Philly, Maddy showed us some new spots that we will surely return to. From the start we learned about some historical notes we had never been aware of and the first stop was for a sweet treat! I’ve been on several foods tours in the past and none offered quite the same experience as this one. Lots of food, insider foodie info, restaurant history and opportunities to shop topped off with wine at the end made for a perfect combination to celebrate my mom’s BD with her. If you’re new to the area or even a local, you can’t go wrong with checking out this tour.

I live in Philly, but was excited to learn about another side of the Philly food scene. Maddy is super knowledgable about the restaurants and the people who run them. What was most exciting & memorable was the neighborhood history, geography, and community context she shared. The tour was super well executed. I’m sure some things didn’t go quite as she had planned during the day but she didn’t miss a beat and made sure we didn’t notice at all. Definitely recommend and excited to see what else she spins up.

I've lived in the city for years and spent a fair amount of time in the Italian Market neighborhood, and I still learned a lot and visited places I'd never been (and never heard of). Our guide (Maddy) knows so much about the city and it's food culture. In addition to eating amazing food (and the food is really good), you're going to learn a ton about the history of the city and the restaurants and the restaurateurs working in the Italian Market. Our tour hit a few unexpected snags (it rained, someone arrived up late) and Maddy deftly guided us through the neighborhood with out a hitch. If this is your first time in Philadelphia, this tour is a great way to learn about one of the city's most famous food neighborhoods. If you're a local, this tour is a great way to see a new side of an area you've been to a hundred time. Either way it's a great way to spend a day. You'll leave with a new appreciation for the city's history and about a dozen restaurant recommendations for anything and everything you could want.
