We spent our second day in Munich on a tour with Curt in Dachau. We took a train and bus with Curt to the camp. His knowledge of the history was extraordinary! We had a close family connection to the camp and while it was difficult to see and hear about the atrocities that took place here, it was important to share in this experience. Curt answered all questions with details and information we would have never known…we are so appreciative of his time. An amazing tour!

The Big Hat Dachau tour was a highlight of our time in Munich. Curt was easy to connect with pre-tour, even when I had a last minute change. His knowledge of this era of history was evident, and we really appreciated how he was able to adjust the tour to our questions and interests. We never felt rushed. Others had mentioned his iPad with old photos and we also found this to be very interesting. Curt gives a great tour- he spent ample time showing us around and explaining in depth the key aspects of the camp. We booked Curt for a walking tour / Third Reich of Munich and the very next day we scheduled a second tour to Dachau. Once again Curt exceeded our expectations. We had many questions pertaining to Dachau and we were blown away as to how much knowledge Curt has in his head. It’s pretty dang amazing and it made the tour another 5 star plus. We actually did both the Dachau tour and Munich City with Curt. Both were very informative, interesting and so much better than going on our own and trying to figure things out. It was also very beneficial to have someone that spoke very clear English - we did some group tours over our vacation and some were very difficult to understand. Highly recommend Curt - he is a wealth of knowledge and makes history interesting even for non-history buffs.

We (2 couples in our mid 50s) booked a Highlights of Munich & Third Reich and Dachau Tour - it exceeded our expectations. Curt met us in our hotel lobby and we walked to the highlights of Munich, saw Hitler sights & heard stories - all complemented with incredible photos from his iPad. We took a train to another area of Munich where we saw Hitler Marching and Rally Areas and his office building and Nazi Eagles. We then went to Dachau- my husband and I had been before, but our friends had not and this tour was MUCH better than our previous tour. It can be an overwhelming place- but he walked us thru and he hit the highlights- with wonderful explanations. Curt has a passion for history and showed true empathy with what he taught us. We are returning December 2023 with my friend and her two college-aged children and we are booking Curt again. We’ve taken many hours in Europe and Curt is, by far, the best we’ve had

We were a group of 2 couples and Curt was our tour guide for 2 days - day one was the Third Reich tour and the 2nd day was the Dachau tour. Curt is a historian and it is obvious he is well versed in the subject matter, and has many riveting stories. We appreciated the iPad photos that helped to explain the history. My husband is a history major and he enjoyed the many side conversations. I, unfortunately, did not realize that there was so much walking on the Third Reich tour, or that one of our group had a knee issue. Add to that, it was a rainy, cold day, and it did not make for a good time for our friend. Curt tried to make it easier by ducking into coffee shops to stay dry while he was talking, but eventually this member grabbed a taxi to return to the hotel. When Curt realized the need, for the next day in Dachau, he called ahead and had a scooter waiting. That was extremely thoughtful and made all the difference. When we arrived back in Munich at dinner time, Curt directed us to a great local restaurant, frequented mainly by locals. We had a wonderful meal to end our day! We had a lot of tour guides during our 2 weeks in Germany (driving down from Berlin to Munich), and it is very telling that our group member with the knee issue voted Curt the best guide we had.

We took this tour with my husband and three teenage/young adult sons. Curt met us at the train station and expertly guided us to Dachau via train and bus, giving us a detailed introduction to what we were about to see. Passionate about his subject matter and deeply knowledgeable, Curt brought the history of the site alive with insightful historical context, historic pictures and films that he shared with us on his iPad and expert commentary. It is hard to imagine the atrocities that occurred at Dachau but Curt respectfully transmits the information through first person interviews of survivors he has conducted over the years and a sensitive delivery of historical details. It was truly a day we will never forget. Do not hesitate to book a tour with Curt. It will be a decision you will be glad you made!

Curt (our tour guide) did a great job! We were with our 2 grandchildren (ages 11 & 13). Curt made the tour very meaningful for them.

Curt did a very nice job sharing a lot of information about Dachau and raised interesting points about Hitler’s rise to power. I realized how extremely difficult it must be to narrate a tour of a concentration camp. As the grandson of a Jewish German Oma, who narrowly escaped Nazi Germany while half of her family(uncles, aunts, cousins) did not, the ground and buildings were haunting. Curt helped my family get through and process everything, while I was consumed with my thoughts. When we got back to Munich, Curt helped us loft the fog by guiding us on a short tour through part of Munich and shared his book with us digitally.

Curt is a fun, charismatic tour guide with an incredible knowledge about Munich and its many historical sites. We did two tours with Curt - the Munich city tour and Dachau tour. Both tours exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend his company to anyone touring Munich.

Curt is such a knowledgeable historian. He is personable and attentive and really engaging. We brought our three teenage boys and they were very engaged and were able to internalize a lot from all of Curt's knowledge and stories. My wife and I had a private tour Dachau with Curt. His tour was excellent (and to say that is an understatement). I was not only impressed by Curt's vast knowledge of the history of Dachau, but was captivated by his deep recollection of survivor accounts, who he had the honor to get to know. We really loved Curt's style of teaching history; teaching the "why" instead of just the "what". He provided a unique perspective of the thought processes of certain groups during the period. This really gave us a grasp of "why" these events took place. On top of everything, Curt was very personable, we loved hearing about his experiences as well as his beautiful family. We had reached out to Curt prior to touring Europe this past holiday season. We’re a family of five with three children in their late 20’s traveling from the United States. Having never met and connecting at our hotel in the morning Curt felt like a member of the family almost instantly. He’s an easy conversationalist with an exceptional command of his subject, modesty and a crisp sense of humor. Travel to and from each destination was seamless and the somber experiences that awaited us were brought to life by his wonderful storytelling. During lunch and prior to the Third Reich part of the tour we were joined by Curt’s son Paul for about an hour. A delightful intelligent young man about the same age as our children, offered a contemporary view and interesting contrast as a native German to Curt’s midwestern American roots. As history enthusiasts, we thoroughly appreciated Curt’s scholar like knowledge and intimate portrayal. Without hesitation we’d recommend him to our family and friends. And in looking back, our only regret was that we couldn’t have him for the rest of our european tour!
