What a perfect addition to the itinerary - just as I thought the kids had seen as many castles, ruins and museums as they could handle in Ireland, we did this tour and had a blast to break up the history. What a pro - he knew how to handle uncoordinated mothers, hot shot kids and testy teens with patience and skill- this guys gotta have been coaching his whole life. He taught us the fundamental skills of the game and kept us laughing the whole time - if you need any more of a testimonial, the kids bought a Hurley stick and slioter the next day to take home to keep working on their form and as cross training for baseball and hockey back home in Canada. Do not miss it - one of the highlights of our whole trip!

Taking a hurling lesson with my family was an incredible experience! Our coach was highly skilled and passionate about the sport. He broke down the techniques in a way that's easy to understand and we all had opportunities to practice in an atmosphere that was always positive and encouraging, which makes learning fun. My grandson spent much of our remaining time in Ireland looking for opportunities to practice his new skills. I highly recommend hurling lessons to anyone interested in trying something new and exciting!

Myself and my brother signed up for the Hurling Exeperince as a part of a trip to research our family from Kilkenny. We had a great time on the experience and learn't about the game of hurling and then tried out some of the skills and techniques of Hurling. This is an amazing experience. All skill levels! James made sure we mastered a few moves. He stops and takes pictures of you. Also movies of your new moves. You get such fun and a lasting memory. Don't hesitate to book this!!

James was an exceptional “coach” and teacher! He was patient and encouraging. We arrived with no hurling experience. James explained key aspects of the game. Demonstrated and taught us techniques and then had us practice these techniques. My husband and I are in our mid/late 40s and believe me when I say “if I can do it then anyone can do it!” A truly unique experience that will be a top highlight of our vacation to Ireland. James also took great photos and videos so we can show our teenagers when we return to the United States. I wish I could give this MORE than 5 stars!

We were a group of 43 French students 15-18 yrs old and 4 adult supervisors and we had an amazing experience. Coaches and staff were so attentive and brought lots of fun to this very cultural experience. We also had lunch in the clubhouse. Food and staff were excellent.

What a great experience and way to understand the Irish sports culture! Not just for sports people but a must for sports people. This is considered the fastest game on foot and a major part of Irish culture. The game incorporates skills that are used in baseball, golf, hockey, lacrosse, field hockey and more! James is fantastic in explaining not just the game but the history and culture. Hosted in Kilkenny, which is a great town to visit, the home of Hurling. Take the time to do it, I’ll do it again for sure.

Our family (2 adults, 11y old daughter & 9y old son) did a hurling clinic with James & Charlie and had a blast! Good info and instruction at the start and lots of fun on the field! It was great to not just hear about hurling but to actually experience it! Highly recommend this experience.

Fun, good basics, family-friendly, Glad we tried it, and we then went home to watch the All-Ireland final. I'd love a rule book for this zany, fast sport.

This was such an awesome experience for our active, sports-loving family. James did an awesome job teaching us about Ireland’s national sport and coaching us in hurling drills. One of our favorite parts of the trip. Highly, highly recommend. Go Cats!

James was awesome today! Family of four (kids 10 & 12) had a great time. Brief History of hurling and hurling culture in Kilkenny (hurling is taken very seriously in Kilkenny). Then out to the pitch for a hands on hurling experience. By the end we were scoring goals and our whole group had a great time.

I cannot speak more highly of our experience with James, and the experience he provided; teaching our group about the sport of Hurling! We were in Ireland (from USA) for 10 days, and this was easily a highlight of my entire family. James was fantastic at teaching us all the basics of the sport (ages 6, 10 and 4 adults), and we walked away with a new passion for a sport we had not known much about prior to meeting James and scheduling this experience. James did a fantastic job at explaining the sport, the history and the deep routes it has Ireland. He easily transferred his passion for the sport to my two boys who after grabbing two hurling sticks while in Kilkenny, have not put them down since. James did a fantastic job also instructing the adults in the group, and even offered to take some very memorable videos of us during our lesson. Thank you very much to James for teaching us to love a game we had not known much about, and being one of the highlights of our trip! Our group of 6 would highly recommend this experience to anyone who appreciates history, a love for sports but more importantly some family fun!

James was a great instructor. You could feel his love of the game with each instruction. We left with a new appreciation for Hurling. We were booked for a tour but were the only ones. He contacted us and had us join a tour group's lesson. So much more fun in a group. I recommend this to everyone!

My group of 6 ( 4 adults and 2 kids ages 11 and 14) had such a great time at this experience. Michael put together an entire lesson to help us learn the sport. We had fun competing against one another and seeing which of us had natural hurling strengths. Beyond that, it was a great way to learn the rules of the sport. Later in the trip we were able to use what we learned to understand the big hurling matches happening on TV! Highly recommend.

We loved our hurling lesson. James was such a great instructor and very patient with our efforts. I would recommend for any age!

James was very accommodating. I was the only person on the tour due to some rain but we still carried on. It was a fantastic experience. Sorry I took so long to review since this was Sept of '02, but I would highly encourage anyone interested in learning the culture and history of this sport to meet James.

A great part of my trip was learning and practicing hurling with one of my friends. James was a great and patient instructor and even spent a few minutes teaching my wife when she came to pick me up. I have enjoyed talking about my hurling experience with friends and family after returning back home to the U.S. I highly recommend this unique experience for fellow travelers visiting Ireland.

Had so much fun with family learning and playing the game of hurling. James was friendly, patient and kept the group interested. We are certainly not ready for the next level but would definitely do this again. Once in a lifetime experience and reasonably priced. Thank you James!!!

We ranged in age from 14 to 79 (3 generations) and everyone had a great time! James was kind, funny, and a great coach and teacher. We loved learning the history as well as the rules and then getting to try our hand at hurling. Immediately afterwards we went in search of a jersey and hurleys (settled for bracelets and will get the gear once we get back home). What a fun sport and great experience! We look forward to watching the USGAA Nationals in August, which are going to be held in our own backyard, Denver, CO.

James was amazing! The history he shared about Hurling was totally captivating. You can tell he loves the game and wants to pass on his love to anyone willing to listen. The way he presents the information is perfect. He adds comedy and compassion to it. We are from Denver, Colorado and he even found our local club for us. Everything he did went way above and beyond anything we even dreamed of. My mom, who was accompanying myself, my wife, and 2 teenage boys, on our family trip didn't know what to think about it. After leaving the "pitch" curling was all we could talk about for the rest of the day. James took the time with everyone to really make sure to teach them the game. We had an amazing time and can't wait to hook up with our local team in Denver. Thank you so much for making our trip to Ireland and Kilkenny perfect. Thanks James!
