Morning is the ideal time to explore the hidden passageways and winding alleys of Hoi An. Meet at the local tour provider's shop at #21 Hai Ba Trung Street. Walk 20 meters up the small alleyway and you’ll see it on your left behind the green gates. Your guide will fit your bike, give a safety briefing and provide an overview of the tour. Have the chance to photograph the iconic Japanese Bridge in the historic district. Crossing the canal bridge first near the night market, continue to the new metal bike bridge connecting Hoi An proper and its southern villages of Quang Nam Province. Not far from the bridge, visit a local family making Banh Beo using the traditional method. These small, savory rice flour bowls are a common breakfast staple in the countryside. Continue riding to one of Hoi An's most beautiful villages, stopping at a family home to learn about the tradition of family chapels. Your host is nearly 90-years-old and vividly remembers his experiences during the American War. Pedal past rice fields and vegetable farms along small canals and waterways towards a wooden boat building site. Fishing is still the lifeblood of the province and the construction of these ships is quite amazing to witness and photograph. If the timing is right, you'll also see families gathering to clean fishing nets between journeys at sea. The roads narrow again to concrete paths and your final stops will include a traditional mat weaving shop and a family distillery, where rice wine has been produced in the same manner for generations. Of course, samples for a tasting will be provided. A short ride from here, you will board a local ferry for a trip back to town. Have your cameras ready for great views of the Hoi An waterfront. Once dockside, it's a short 5 minute ride through alleyways back to the local tour provider's shop.

This trip was a great experience. Our guide was kind and very good at telling about life in the country side. It was easy to follow him! We highly recommend this tour!
Sehr gute Tour.
Tour and tourguide have been great. You get to see how the locals live.
Thank you for a great MTB-trip in the countryside outside Hoi An. Our guide from Grasshopper Adventures (his name was Si) did a good job. He spoke english well and was very talkative. He took us to vietnamese families - and we felt, we had a realistic look into their daily lives. Mountainbikes were almost new and worked very well. A very good excursion - also when you travel with three teenagers as we did. Regards - Kirsten Wernberg-Møller and Klaus Knudsen Pedersen, Denmark
Yen, our bubbly, enthusiastic guide, was a joy to cycle with! She fixed us up with suitably sized bikes that were well maintained and good quality. Helmets, again, chosen and fitted for us. Then took us into the traffic which could’ve been daunting but clear guidance on following her signals helped us feel confident. Out of town, riding on flat, very occasionally bumpy, roads was idyllic after the bustling streets of the cities. The visits to the homes of local craftspeople were fun, interesting and thought provoking. Yen was interesting to talk with to understand the background of what we saw and her English was outstanding! The trip, with it’s beautiful scenery and carefully planned itinerary was always going to be a success but her professional and informative leadership made it superb.
Yen was absolutely amazing!! This was the best tour of our trip in Vietnam. We saw areas and communities that we never would have experienced on our own. We also got to see a little of how people really live in the countryside in Vietnam.
Our guide was a delightful, interesting and informative guide whose English was great. He went to great lengths to make sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying the many great activities. Bike ride is easy, flat, with frequent stops and would be perfect for all ages. Bikes were sturdy and in great condition. Our water bottles were refilled while we were at one of the stops. Nice touch. Highly recommend... the ne of the highlights of our time in Vietnam.
We love love loved Kwan and our trip with him around the countryside of Hoi An. We did so many things, and the biking was broken up with a lot of fun and interesting activities. They were accommodating to my 5 and 2 year old and they thought it was the coolest activity ever. I highly recommend this activity for the whole family, what a non-touristy way to spend some time in Hoi An.
My wife and I really enjoyed the ride through the country side and the opportunity to see how the locals live. Only the first and last 10 minutes of the ride is through the central traffic but the guides do a great job of watching over everyone to make sure they’re safe. The rest of the trip is mainly along country backroads and very peaceful. The pace is very manageable for all riders. Our guide Quan did a great job of explaining everything at all the stops and there was never any pressure to buy anything.
We had a great time with our guide An!! He was knowledgeable, fun, energetic and had wonderful English. We had a small problem with the bike and he solved it straight away. Pace of the ride was easy and overall a very enjoyable experience. Definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys the countryside, riding bikes or just seeing more of Vietnam.
Had a fantastic time cycling around the countryside. Our tour guide Yen was just wonderful and offered interesting insights in addition to just being lovely and fun. The tour is interesting and offers a good glimpse into the daily lives of Vietnamese people. Also, the bikes were good!
Loved our trip on bikes and Yen was a fantastic guide. Extremely professional, keen to explain bike safety and how to avoid accidents in traffic and was very knowledgeable about the route and the local people we met. We loved every moment!
Would recommend this as a must if you want to see Hoi An in a different light. The villages are just stunning and it was lovely to have an opportunity to cook with them and make mats with a 97yo women who has the best laugh! Our tour guides were so informative and really looked after us! I am not the fittest or the best bike rider but I managed to do this tour without any difficulty
Would highly recommended this Tour run by Grasshopper Adventures! I was the only person on my tour and the guide Onion Phi was brilliant, funny and made the tour great. The bike was easy to ride, the length of the tour not hard - plenty of rest stops - I met a Vietnam Vet & his wife, a 99 yo lady who weaves mats, made rice noodle snacks, drank rice wine & enjoyed a short boat trip back to the ancient town. Great way to see Hoi An
Weberfamilie. Familie, die Reisschnapps macht (lecker;-) Danke, Mike & An!
Highlight del nostro viaggio a Hoi An. Guida disponibile e molto preparata, bici nuovissime e tour molto interessante.
Meet all our expectations and more. Great guide with a good English and a lot of good stories. We had so much fun at this tour. It showed the daily life of the Vietnamese people.
Wonderful experience, excellent bicycles, safety was excellent Wonderful informative guide, very friendly and welcoming manner
