This was an exceptional tour with Melissa. She is a real expert for Madrid and has all historic data, stories, locations and recommendations for the people who explore the city with her. Very entertaining and 100% recommended. We enjoyed every minute and had a great time.

This was a great tour. Javier was really engaging and interesting to listen to. Madrid has such an interesting history and this covered a lot of that as well as places to eat and stay while you were there.

I did not go on the tour due to bad communication from the operator. Part of the problem is also due to how Viator's app works on Android. I would imagine that most people booking this tour are not from Madrid. And some guests, such as myself, are not using their normal phone for international travel due to costs, etc. So...what happened? I arrived in the Plaza, tried to find the fountain -- turns out it's under construction and visibility is partially obscured due to the fencing. There were numerous free walking tour companies in the square (easily seen because 4 of the 5 had umbrellas which say "free". But...I didn't even know this particular tour is a free one since I paid almost $30 USD on Viator. I walked around the "fountain" three times hoping to find the group. No luck. So I opened the Viator app and sent a message asking how to find them. (15 minutes prior to the meeting time) I left the chat window open so I would immediately see the response. After waiting 10 minutes with no response, I closed the chat box so I could go back to the main booking. Nothing useful there. So I opened the chat back up and there were several messages from the guide (which never showed up while I had the chat box open.... that's definitely a Viator issue, not the fault of the operator). I'm reading from newest to oldest and the newest message has a WhatsApp number so I don't even read the older ones because it's clear that WhatsApp is better than the Viator app chat. And it's during the ensuing WhatsApp chat that I find out .... 1) it's one of the many free tour groups in the square 2) they had sent me a message how to find them.... but on the WhatsApp number that I can't access during my international travels. I'm not sure why they would send a WhatsApp message to an international number if they don't know if the message will be received. Why not send the proper information in the Viator messaging system since that's where I made the purchase? And the whole free thing .. if you see the umbrellas it's super easy to understand how I had no way of knowing that they are "sol tours". I didn't go on the tour because at that point I was so frustrated at the entire thing and I can't ask for a refund because it's past the cancelation time. They did offer that I can rebook but unfortunately I am not here in Madrid with another free morning before I leave. This could have been a much better experience in multiple ways. So...if you're a foreign traveler who may not be able to access your messages while traveling...beware.

Melissa is amazing. She mentioned that she has a background in theatre, and that came through loud and clear. She was entertaining, informative, fun, and knew exactly how to keep everybody engaged for almost two hours of history. We even used her hamburger analogy for the rest of our trip whenever we would see or hear about the history of Spain. If you want to be entertained, see and experience the history of Madrid and enjoy every second, this is the tour for you!

18 people with a few stops. Not worth your money. They also moved the time by an hour a few hours before the event. Slow moving.

The tour was great. We came into the tour knowing almost nothing about Madrid (except tapas) and left the tour with a interesting history of Madrid and a more confident understanding of how to get around!

This isn't the first time I am in madrid but this time I decided to do a walking tour and I just had a great experience! I did the tour with Melissa, she was super energetic and full of joy which made us also very excited about the places we saw. I feel like I have learned a lot thanks to Melissa, she definitely knew what she was talking about so I would absolutely recommend that if you want to know about the history and culture of madrid. I would also mention that her contacts in the city actually helped us enter 2 very cool places during the tour that made it pretty memorable.
