The best morning and lunch ever! The hike was fabulous but the real gift was spending time with Irene and learning about the Basque, their traditions, passions and what it means to be Basque!! Thank you for your positive energy and enthusiasm.

We spent the day with Irene touring the coast north of Bilbao. We had a great morning capped off with some pintxo and wine in a cute little fishing village. Touring with a local like Irene makes all the difference when you really want to understand the local way of life. I absolutely recommend to others.

Janice was our travel guide and could not have been better. Outstanding English, a wealth of historical knowledge and very nice. One of the best tours we have taken and highly recommend the tour.

We had such a great experience with our tour guide Zach! From the get go he was amazing with us, collecting us from our hotel and filling us in on so much of the history and culture of bilbao as well as every town we passed through on the way to the hike. The hike itself was spectacular! He chose the perfect time to bring us and had so much knowledge on the history of the monestary. He also brought us to a great spot for pintxo in bermeo and let us explore the hidden gem that was the fishing town. Overall it was a great day out and I would recommend it to anyone!

Booked a last minute trip to Bilbao & San Sebastián with my husband and fortunately we were accommodated despite nothing being available for at least a month on TripAdvisor! The views were amazing and the pintxos/wine in Bermeo were some of our favorites. Irene was an exceptional guide teaching us about Basque history/culture, answering all our questions, and even giving us recs for San Sebastián. Highly recommend!

My husband and I spent 3 days with Zach including the hike to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe as well as one day visiting the beautiful towns between Bilbao and San Sebastian and another day visiting the towns between San Sebastian and Biarritz. Zach put together wonderful itineraries for us that included tons of history, great land and seascapes and marvelous lunch spots with delicious local food and wine. He is very knowledgeable about the Basque Country and a joy to be with! You get so much more being with a guide that knows the area than you every would on your own. We would highly recommend any tour with Zach.

This tour was amazing! We did the hike to Gaztelugatxe and the fishing village. Irene made the trip feel like going with a friend but with door to door service and great knowledge and stories of the area. The views were spectacular and Irene took us to a small Beautiful fishing village where no tourists go! We would have done more tours with them if we had the time and definitely will if we can come back!

This is such a fantastic tour. It’s really two great experiences in one. Irene is the best. She’s knowledgeable, fun, and a true Basque. The hike to Gaztelugatxe is a ton of fun. She knew when to go to make sure we had a good time and weren’t fighting the crowds. Then the trip to Bemeo is worth a trip on its own. Pintxos were great. The scenery can’t be beat. Can’t recommend it enough.

Irene (non-Basque pronunciation) was like having a local friend for a car tour and hike to this spot. She was lovely to talk to but the conversation and her insights were never forced. Walking up hill was a nice time to be in one's own thoughts. Having some nice Pintxo's for lunch and wine after the hike put everyone in good spirits.

I cannot recommend this tour enough. Irene picked us up at the hotel. On the way to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, she entertained and educated us with information about the history of the site, Basque culture, Bilbao history, and more. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe itself is dramatic and thrilling. The Bermeo part of the trip was lovely as well, and the pintxos were the best we have had in three trips to Spain. My husband and I traveled to the Basque country as part of our honeymoon trip, and, being Game of Thrones fans, decided to sign up for this excursion. We are so happy we did! Irene was an excellent guide. She provided history and context and was so easy to talk to. She offered to take our pictures and knew all the best picturesque spots to stop. She introduced us to txakoli wine when we stopped for a pintxo lunch and was a wealth of information about where to go and what to eat in Bilbao. You won't regret signing up for this hike and lunch tour!

I absolutely recommend the Gaztelugatxe tour! Irene was our tour guide and as someone who was born and raised in Bilbao she was incredibly knowledgeable about everything Basque-centered. She was punctual, professional, and such a warm and animated guide. Not only were we able to visit Gaztelugatxe and the fishing town of Bermeo, but we even had enough time to visit the beachside and other lesser known areas. This is a must if you’re visiting Bilbao!

This was a fantastic experience. I am so glad that that we had Irene to give us a tour. Her English was excellent. She was fun loving and energetic. She chooses excellent food and she was a safe driver. The group was small and fun. The business communicated with us on how to personalize our day. She loves the land and sea around her. I can't wait to do another tour with her one day!

Highly recommend this tour and guide. Irene shared loads of information and advice with us throughout the day and made the experience so fun and interesting. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe absolutely lived up to expectations - it's stunning - and going early as we did with Irene meant we had the island almost to ourselves! Bermeo is also charming and interesting. We shared a selection of pintxos and a glass of local white wine while learning some Basque phrases and learning more about the history and people of the Basque region. On the way back into Bilbao Irene added an extra stop to show us an abandoned castle and some of the traditional farms in the area. After the tour, Irene also sent us lots of pintxos recommendations in Bilbao (esp. how to avoid the tourist traps!) which absolutely delivered. We were two friends on a short citybreak in Bilbao so this tour was ideal for us as it doesn't take the whole day (but still covers a lot) and pick up was right around the corner from our hotel (we stayed in the pedestrianised old town so we couldn't be collected at our particular hotel). I wouldn't hesitate to book another tour with Irene when I'm next in Bilbao/Basque Country.
