The excursions went very smoothly. The guide kept us well informed at all times and was very well spoken. Kefalonia is beautiful, but there really isn’t much to see. We were lucky to be there at the end of the season, the lines weren’t crazy.

The cave and underground lake were the best part of the tour. But everything took much longer to do than it should have because there was a bunch of groups from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship in port. We waited in line for one hour to see the underground lake. Crazy. So try to do the tour when a cruise ship is not in town.

Our experience with Avalon Travel on the "Highlights of Kefalonia" tour was exceptional. Despite the busy crowd at Melissani Cave, the day was impeccably organized, allowing our group of 6 adults and 2 infants to enjoy every moment. The knowledgeable guide, Maria, and seamless planning made the trip unforgettable. Highly recommended for a well-managed and enriching travel experience.

The ride along the mountains was beautiful. The ocean water was a gorgeous blue. However, we had a 2 hour wait in the hot sun to get in to see Melissani Lake. The lake water was beautiful, but not worth a 2 hour wait in the sun. They did have a store you could go into and shop while you waited. It had refreshments as well so that was nice. If the wait was maybe 30 min, I would definitely recommend it. This was in the summer, peak tourist season, too. Drogarati Cave was nice and no wait!

Great guide, very knowledgeable! Tough day with queues at the caves, she coped really well. At the end she recommended a great restaurant as well!

Our guide Patricia was excellent. She made adjustments to some of our stops along the way due to a very long wait to get on the boat ride. The boat ride was worth the price all by itself even though it lasted 10 minutes.

It was nice, the guide (was it Catherine?) Was very nice and knowledgable. My favorite was the lake, amazing! I asked to ve dropped off by the look out on top of myrtos and had a taxi pick me up to go down to myrtos beach, which was amazing!

We were on the island of Kefalonia for 8 days. This is not your touristy area like Santorini or Mykonos. This is the true way to discover Greece. We visited 8 beaches each one with there own unique charm and beauty. The city of Argistoli is great with its shops restaurants and grocery markets. But for us Lixouri was even nicer smaller but the food was exceptional. The ferry ride from Argostoli to Louxiri is 20 minutes and was only three euros for your car and each person. Really not a bad price at all. I am not sure how the accommodations are as we stayed at a friends home up in the mountains . There we found this amazing little restaurant called “Yolanda’s” OMG the most amazing Souvlaki’s I’ve eaten in my life, and the hospitality was exceptionally beautiful made you feel like part of the family. A shout out to our main man Kostas who took care of us whenever we stopped in there to eat or drink. You will definitely need a car to get around this beautiful island. Some roads are tricky, but when you get to the destination it’s worth the ride. Make sure to visit the caves and don’t miss out on your picture opportunities above the amazing beaches . One last thing when parking your car in louxiri, make sure to check the signs as they close the streets for pedestrian traffic only between 7:30 pm and 1 Am. Also, an excursion to White rock beach, and XI beach are a must . If you tour this island, I hope you leave with kefalonia in your heart as we did . Andy & Dawn

Rated 5 out of 5 we visited in the middle of July 2023 for our second visit to the island combining a sailing course ICC with a week in a hotel sailing and windsurfing so pretty active. We found the all the Greeks we met to be welcoming and very genuine. In Lixouri where we were based, you could buy fruit and veg from farmers from the side of the road very cheaply, drink coffee in some wonderful local bakeries and sit in the town square and watch the world go by, watch turtles swim in the marina. Undoubtedly much hotter this year but the Greeks quietly disappear and shut down between 2-5pm. Fabulous place to holiday.

This was a great bus tour. The tour wasn’t overly full. The guide Patricia was amazing. Very informative and you can tell that she loves her job. The sites we stopped at were perfect and we had enough time to see and do what we needed to do. Overall great tour!

Excellent service start to finish, great communication with Mark prior to today about the trip. Today's trip felt VIP, full coach for only 6 and the guide Katerina was a joy to listen to, her insights on the locations visited and as we travelled around the island was great. Would gladly use again if revisiting the island.

Catherine was an amazing guide. So knowledgeable and passionate and helped us fall in love with the Kefalonia.

Fantastic tour, the coach was really nice and there was only one other couple on the tour. We were a family of four (with a 4 year old and 1 year old) and didn’t feel at all like a hindrance, the tour guide Catherine and driver Panos were both extremely welcoming. I was hesitant beforehand about taking young children on a long tour, but everyone had a wonderful time - the tour was about 5 hours but flew by, Catherine was knowledgeable and friendly and Panos was my daughter’s new best friend! Would highly recommend

Excellent efficient Price was well worth it. Our tour guide Catherine was an absolute delight friendly and knowledgeable . You had constant information on route to each destination. Tickets for entry included No better way to take in the sites . You could drive yourself if you wanted to take your life in your hands or travel on a luxury coach safe and stress free. Highly recommended

Great day seeing the sights of Kefalonia today. Our tour guide was Catherine, who was superb and very friendly. The trip was about 5 hours and great value for money. The driver was Andreas who was a very safe pair of hands as we drove up the mountains and experienced the most amazing views. Particularly enjoyed the monastery visit and hearing about the miracles of Saint Gerasimos. We even heard all about the goats with the golden teeth 😂 Thank you

Just had an amazing day touring the fabulous island of Kefalonia. Our tour guide for the day was Catherine and our driver was Andreas. Catherine was very knowledgable and delighted us with the stories from the island including George Vergottis and the Nymphs at Lake Melissani! All the staff at the offices were lovely and it was all very well organised. Aircon coaches which were spacious, clean, comfortable and well maintained. A lovely day had by all thoroughly recommended. Thank you Avalon Travel - we will be booking again for sure
