Pleasant drive out to Montserrat. David was a great guide, with helpful information but not talking all the time. Montserrat is an extraordinary place and well worth the visit. The trip included a funicular trip to San Joan and a walk down. The walk is not difficult but it's misleading to call it "easy" because it is quite steep in places, although well paved for the most part. Note queues at the restaurants are enormous and very slow. Best to go on a weekday because weekends are apparently packed.

Beautiful excursion with a lot to see. I wish I had brought binoculars though. I would not recommend this tour for those that are not in good physical shape, or use a walker or cane. Myself and another were the only two in the group physically able to do the hike. The ground can be steep in places with uneven surfaces. The views on the hike are spectacular! We were able to see climbers scalping the rocks, wildlife, and additional buildings. It’s not a cable car ride on this excursion, but a funicular. For those unable to do the hike, which starts where you get off the funicular, you can ride it back down, but have to pay. We had time to shop, and there were locals with a farmer’s type market selling nuts, cheeses, honey, arts and crafts. It was a great day.

This tour company is absolutely top notch for professionalism and experience! David, our guide, was so knowledgeable and hospitable for not only Montserrat but of Catalonia and the region in general! The trip details were thorough and complete. Pick up and drop off were easy and well understood. We had the opportunity to witness other tour operators during our visit and we are so glad we chose this company. It was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend this tour company!

The day was perfect from beginning to end. James was the ultimate guide and host, so thoughtful, so kind, so informative and so open to sharing his insights. He checked with everyone to be sure it was okay to extend the day and thus gave us all time to eat, shop or wander. He took particular care to ensure we knew where to take the best pictures for the best views.

Our tour guide was the nicest. He was filled with information not only about the church but even the flora and fauna along the hike and the surrounding area. Truly a great day and tour.

A really good tour, our guide Jaume was informative and helpful, he drove well and took us on an excellent hike down the mountain after the spectacular funicular trip. The monastery is an interesting place to visit with wonderful views. The cafes nearby are good, and altogether a very good experience.

David was a superb guide. His passion and knowledge for his home area, plants, history, geology etc made this experience one of our greatest days in Barcelona. It was a nice contrast from city life to see the nature and beauty and views. The intimacy of the tour being a small group makes it feel like being shown around by a friend! My wife and I took this tour and really enjoyed seeing the monastery and the views front m the top were breathtaking. The guide was very helpful as well.

So when I booked this tour for my boss and I, I had high hopes. Read several comments about different guides, which were all great, but David's name stood out to me. So upon arrival, there were two guys and the each read off our names. Somehow, we ended up with David and man oh man...the reviews were spot on. He is terrific. I'm sure the other guy was too! But I loved the small van with a small group! As we drove up to Montserrat, David explained so many different things and pointed out different parts of the area. An hour long drive went extremely quick! Once we arrived to Montserrat, he showed us different points to eat and explore. He took us through all the different areas. He was extremely patient with our group when someone wandered or needed extra potty breaks. There were ZERO complaints. He was impressive! The hike down is about an hour. I don't love the heat so I was warm and it was only like 67degrees. I wish I would have known is was pretty steep and downhill, I probably would have brought my hiking stick as it would have braced the downhill part. But overall, I would do this again! And, I think if you can't do the hike down, you can take the fenicular down again. Not positive. But don't miss out. This is well worth it!

What an experience this day was! Our guide, Alan, was extremely knowledgeable about all things Montserrat - both the monastery and the ecology, history and geology of the area. This half day tour packs in a lot to see and do, and was worth the cost of the tour. We enjoyed the early morning views and the funicular ride, especially. Bring your camera, comfortable walking shoes, and some cash for the delicious local food vendors - yes, buy the cheese! A beautiful, perfect half day which got us back in time to make our flight later in the afternoon. We are quite happy to have made this tour a part of our trip to Spain, and do recommend it! Really great tour and very informative. The Montserrat area would have not been practical for us to access on our own so the tour made perfect sense of us. We were a party of 2 in an 8 person English speaking group, so the group size felt personal and friendly. The tour started at 7:30 and we were back around 2 PM. David, our guide, provide informative and interesting information about the places and history of the area. He was also super helpful with restaurant, attractions, and shopping suggestions for Barcelona The half day tour included, transportation, the guide, admission for the gated areas around the monastery, for the cable car, and for the basilica. We were on our own for lunch expenses, shopping, and gratuities. The experience was wonderful and we would certainly recommend it to anyone.

Al was a fabulously knowledgeable guide who is very passionate about the natural beauty of Monserrat. He was able to answer all questions with ease The Monestry was spectacular. I personally would have liked to have met/interacted with the Monks. I would have liked a little more time to investigate the local marketers, but maybe that was our fault for being a little slow on the down hill hike

Amazing small group tour lead by James. Went with my wife. James lead the tour. He grew up in the area and knew everything like the back of his hand. His English was excellent too. Couldn't have asked for better.

We absolutely loved our time with David. Though the weather was a bit unexpected, David tried his best to keep us warm and dry. During the tour, he also kept us well-informed and assisted the ladies in our group who were having a hard time going down the snowy slopes. Would definitely recommend this tour to everyone.
