This is THE way to go for people who are short on time but still want a great, personalized, memorable experience. I only had a couple of hours but felt like I did a lot. Alex was the best guide: attentive, courteous, knowledgeable, and a lot of fun. I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive of going on a country-roads tour alone with an unknown person but felt extremely comfortable the entire time. With this tour, you get to drive through the fields, take side, scenic roads, stop for pictures wherever you want and feel catered to. The chateau we stopped at was also excellent. The guide was very knowledgeable and it was well worth the hour spent there. A couple of notes to keep in mind: 1) the tour is for two guests. I was traveling alone so had to book 2x the amount. 2) Don’t forget sunglasses to protect your eyes from the wind. I forgot mind (but luckily Alex was ready with a spare pair. He seemed to always have a plan B if I needed. Highly recommend

Recently did the St. Emilion tour in a side-car with Retro Tour in Bordeaux. We were two couples traveling via a cruise ship. Our pilots Alex and Emmanuel picked us up promptly at the ship. Admittedly, as we are older couples, we had some reluctance with one of us riding on the back of the motorcyle. But I have to say, all took turns on the back and we had a blast! Our pilots were wonderful always checking to make sure we were safe and comfortable. They are great, experienced drivers. We toured St. Emilion, visited a winery for a tasting and toured on the bikes through a vineyard. I highly recommend this tour. All of us agree that this was one of the highlights of our trip. Try it - you will not be disappointed!

What an afternoon! Had a very special 4.5hrs with Alex and Emmanuel who were super friendly, informative and spoke perfect English. The bikes and sidecars look great and were a lot of fun, whilst the trip out to Saint Emilion afforded us wonderful views of the countryside and incorporated a wine tour at Couvent des where we got to sample some delightful wines.

Great experience! Beautiful town, stunning scenery. The ride was a lot of fun and Alex was a great driver/guide. Best part was driving through the fields, among the grape plants! Also, the chateaus we visited were beautiful, and the wine was great!

My friend and I signed up for this tour to Saint-Emilion and it was a spectacular experience! Saint Emilion is beautiful and scenic and what a way to experience it in a sidecar. It is truly unique. Alexandre, our guide was wonderful. He was knowledgable about the sites we visited. We also really enjoyed the winery we visited. Couple of recommendations: Dress in warm clothes - it can get quite chilly on the speedways. Be sure to wear big sunglasses to shield your face...or a scarf to fend off the bugs :)

This alternative mode of transport to explore St Emilion was fantastic, it certainly felt like a once in a lifetime trip as I'm not sure I'll ever have the chance to travel in a side car again. Driving through the French countryside was beautiful, the tour around St Emilion old town was lovely, and our wine tour at one of the local Chateau's was so good I bought a case of wine to ship from to the US! Really well thought out excursion

So much fun! Riding from Bordeaux was a blast and touring Saint-Emilion from the side car and the back of the bike was the best way to see the stunning landscape. Our guide, Lucio, is awesome and the best tour guide you could ask for. His enthusiasm for the area and his energy was exactly what we needed. Lucio, if you're ever in NY, come visit!

This was a truly Amazing tour company. And Alex who owns this part of the company in Bordeaux is a truly wonderful company owner who really cares about his guests. We took a half day tour to the vineyards at first and it was spectacular. It elevated what could have been something routine into something very special. And the winery they picked was so great for us - a completely private tour. We had such a good time we then did both the night and day tours of Bordeaux. In each case we learned so much and had such a good time.

We stumbled into the TouristWe stumbled into the Tourist Bureau at Quinones on Friday, where we booked a city tour with the side car for Saturday morning. We had so much fun on the city tour that we changed our plans to take the Retro Tour to St Emilion on Sunday, rather than the tour bus. First of all - the URAL with sidecar is a beautiful motorcycle and modern day replica of the historical royal bikes from WWII era. The bike seemed to be perfectly maintained and was comfortable and clean, inside & out. Alex, our driver and tour guide, was a wonderful French gentleman; friendly, courteous, polite and charming. He was honest and I found his prices to be a fair bargain for the amazing experience he offers. Prior to our tour (and taking our money), he checked weather, road and traffic conditions. Comfort and safety were obviously a top priority. He took measurements to bring the correct helmet sizes, brought extra coats, jackets, gloves and blankets (although fortunately it was warm & sunny so we didn’t need it) and water for the ride. We arranged for him to pick us up directly from our hotel. He was flexible with our needs, yet very precise and punctual, arriving a few minutes early for both of our tours. He was knowledgeable about the city of Bordeaux, and was able to navigate all of the pedestrian areas closed off to traffic, while still giving us great views of all the major attractions in town. He also showed us a few markets that we would have never known about or found on a hop on, hop off bus. We had a breathtaking ride on the back country roads from Bordeaux to St Emilion (about 1 hour). Once we arrived in the area, Alex literally took us off the beaten path, through the vineyards and stopped to point out some of the more famous and popular chateaus. He arranged a tour and tasting for us on short notice at a Chateau, and took us on a quick walking tour through the historic center of St Emilion before bringing us back to Bordeaux. Retro tours made our short trip to Bordeaux a memorable and Fun experience and we definitely hope to make it back again, next time to tour Medoc with Alex and his sidecar. We discovered this in the Tourism office. Thomas our rider was very engaging and fun. The tour wound through the magnificent roads of St Emillion until we reached Chateau Fombrauge where we given a 45 minute tour of the vineyard by Mary. Following was a 20 minute tasting session. Mary was very passionate and knowledgeable. This tour is an extra cost but not expensive. Overall a great half day away from the city.

My friends and I decided to go on a side-car tour to the Medoc. It was fantastic! We had two side cars. Our chauffeurs were very fun and funny. I was so surprised how comfortable the side cars were. Felt like being in a limo with your hair blowing in the wind. And sitting on the motorcycle was fine too since our drivers were cute;). We visited two wineries and the tours/wine was of high quality. Highly recommend going on this adventure. Life it too short!

My boyfriend and I wanted to try how it is to travel by sidecar so we booked this tour. Most of the time I sat in the sidecar (which is GREAT!!!) and my boyfriend sat behind our guide. Alex, our guide, was OUTSTANDING!!! We had so much fun and at the same time he gave us tons of information, plenty of good suggestions and recommendations. It was a bit a rainy day but this would not harm our excellent mood! In the opposite, Alex is a very attentive person so all was perfect. We drove from Bordeaux to Saint-Emilion. On the way we stopped by in a château for wine tasting. We made a little tour with the guide of the château which was very interesting as well. Saint-Emilion is a lovely little town and worth to visit. The tour was really really great, and we want to thank Alex to have made this tour so unforgettable. We highly recommend Retro Tour Bordeaux!
