Kurt the instructor is amazing. He has great knowledge of the culture, the history and of course the food and it's origins. Even the jokes are not bad :)

We had a wonderful food tour with Kurt today and learned so much about the culture of Innsbruck. The Tyrolean cuisine was delightful. I recommend skipping breakfast before the tour, because there is so much food to enjoy. Kurt even provided us with a bag to keep all the leftovers which we had later that evening. 100% recommend this tour!!!

Anytime I see a tour or activity that is ranked #1 for the city, immediately there is a lot to live up to. Kurt, and Innsbruck Food Tours, deserve every last kudos he has received. From my very first interaction with him, requesting a custom date for our group's limited time window visiting Innsbruck, Kurt was warm, friendly, and a true professional. He clearly knows and loves his city and we are thrilled to have selected this as our one and only tour in Innsbruck. It is so much more than just a city food tour (we have been on many) - it is an overview of the city and Tyrloean culture. If you also book only one tour in Innsbruck, make sure this is it. And an extra special thank you to Kurt for pulling off a spectacular tour while battling a couple grumpy and jet lagged toddlers in our group. Thanks for everything Kurt!

Highly recommended. Professional and well organized. Kurt provided a fun and entertaining tour of Tirol food and culture. His intimate knowledge of the food and the local businesses who fed us was a fascinating insight into the Tirol region. It included a walk around old town Innsbruck and a local market—-each stop was a feast for the eyes, soul and belly.

Look no further! If you are a foodie and love history, this tour is for you! This tour truly made my visit to Innsbruck extra special. Kurt was an amazing guide who has a passion about Austrian/Tyrolean cuisine, history and agriculture, including sustainability. I learned a lot! His vast knowledge of the region was impressive and his personal stories he shared were intriguing and funny as well! Great conversation throughout! And I cannot forget about the food and drink! Each stop was unique with a story to be told about the food and the businesses we visited. Everything was absolutely delicious. We had local cheese, breads, speck (paired with a wonderful glass of wine!), spaetzle, pastries, chocolate, coffee, etc...and of course the turnip schnapps ;-)! I HIGHLY recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed. And as Kurt says, Come Hungry!!! You will have leftovers! Thanks again Kurt, you are an inspiration!

Kurt is a wealth of information because of his journalism background as well as growing up on a farm in Tyrol. His energy, enthusiasm and charm make him a perfect leader for this tour. Make this your first stop when you arrive in Innsbruck so that you can visit places he recommends. Well worth doing, highly recommend!

If you're visiting Innsbruck and like food and culture, then booking this trip direct with Kurt through Innsbruck Food Tours should be your number 1 priority! My wife and I were fortunate that we were the only two on our tour. Kurt is highly passionate about Austria's food heritage and supporting small local producers. He combines his knowledge and passion for the subject with more than ample edible delights - as the pre-tour email says - come hungry! Before our tour started at Innsbruck market, we enjoyed Kurt's family produced pine schnapps. Each tour is unique and in no particular order we enjoyed a local cheese platter (did you know the Tyrol has 3 protected cheeses) and turnip schnapps (not as bad as it sounds and the history was fascinating!); samples of local bread (delicious!); lunch at Weisses Rossl with local specialities Tyroler Grostl and Kasspatzle (hearty and tasty); coffee, chocolate and a local speciality; hot chocolate at Cafe Munding and finally wine with a speck and cheese platter. We didn't eat breakfast and skipped dinner! This was a fantastic day combining local food, a tour of the old town visiting places we would never otherwise have discovered and a interesting dose of both local and Austrian history. Thank you Kurt for the highlight of our Innsbruck stay! Don and Julie

This tour was one of the highlights of our two week vacation in Austria as a family of four. Kurt's knowledge and love of Tyrolean cuisine is second to none. His passion for local food (and food in general!) is apparent and infectious. We ate so much delicious and varied foods and got such a great education at the same time. I cannot recommend his tour enough - definitely a must!

Stop searching! You’ve found the best tour in Innsbruck! My group of 7 did a tour with Kurt today and absolutely loved it… except for the turnip schnapps, but he warned us that we wouldn’t like that :-) We tried cheese, fruit, pastry, chocolate, a full traditional lunch meal, coffee and speck. Thanks Kurt for a wonderful tour and the leftover backs to take home!

My friend and I have come to love and truly appreciate food tours as we travel. We were so excited to find this tour in Innsbruck, the only one we could find on our trip to Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. This tour was one of the best we have ever experienced. First of all, we ended up with a private tour with Kurt. I was worried it wouldn't be as fun without a group, but we had the best time! Kurt is amazing. He is so passionate about his company and the tour. He loves to tell others about his country and the region where he grew up, as well as introduce people to the wonderful food. And, the food.... wow! So good. And tons to eat! He starts off the tour by giving you a bag for leftovers, which we had never gotten on a food tour before. This was great as we ended up with dinner for later that evening. Kurt is very into sustainability and supporting local businesses, which made this tour even better. We were introduced to the owners of the local businesses, learning abut their backgrounds while also appreciating their amazing food. I loved this tour and would recommend to anyone. it was one of the best food tours I have taken! Thanks, Kurt!

The food tour was very varied and nobody was hungry at the end. From cheese in the market hall, herb schnapps and pine schnapps, to a bacon platter with beer and wine, to an old café with traditional hot chocolate. We didn't miss out on anything, were well informed about all the products and producers and were even allowed into the traditional baker's small bakery! Kurt illustrates all his information and knowledge with pictures and movies on an iPad - very exciting and entertaining!

How we enjoyed your tour! We have spent the last few days talking, laughing and discussing about you and your input. The various stops were varied and interesting and of course the food was of the highest standard. Cheese, speck, traditional dishes and you showed everything with a lot of heart and passion. Some of us went back the next day and went shopping or had a bite to eat on site. It was a great tour ! Thank you a lot !

We had the best time. Kurt taught us so much about the culture and food of Tyrol. We felt like we were with our fun uncle! This was our favorite experience in Innsbruck.

We had a wonderful time walking through the streets of Innsbruck, sampling a wide range of food and drink as we went while learning about the town and country as well. Our guide was funny, knowledgeable, and spoke with obvious love and pride. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend this to anyone visiting here.

Kurt was so fun and super passionate about local cuisine. He did a great job showing us around and giving us lots of fun background. Felt more like a friend than a tour guide. And you get SO MUCH food! Def recommend.

If you are visiting Innsbruck, you MUST go on this food tour! Kurt tells you about the town, it’s people, and mostly about the food. You’ll taste delicious cheeses, meats and experience several authentic dishes from the Tyrolese area PLUS you’ll visit the oldest bakery in Innsbruck! We could not have enjoyed our tour more and highly recommend it! It was recommended by a family member who took it in the winter, we enjoyed every minute in September!

Kurt is a wonderful guide. First of all, he went out of his way to offer us the tour in a day that wasn't present in the "standard" schedule, since otherwise our stay in Innsbruck would've have missed it. There is abundant food on the tour, and it's quite certain that you won't be able to eat everything. But fear not, as nothing is thrown away and you can take it with you in suitable bags. Actually we got to "complement" our breakfast in 2 subsequent days with several types of bread, cheese and speck received on the tour; just store the perishable stuff in your room's mini-bar. There's even chocolate on the tour as well as discounts you can use afterwards, but I'll let you find out all the details yourself. You might find the price rather high at first glance, but even from the standpoint of pure economics it's a gain, as you probably won't have anything to eat at least until evening, if not the next day. Where this tour really shines in my view is that you get to understand firsthand what good local food should taste like, what makes a traditional restaurant here, even the stories behind some of the main dishes served in this area. Furthermore, you get to talk to a local who spent his life in these parts, and knows the challenges that the region and its people face. Actually this was not our first time in Innsbruck, but we were surprised to find new things simply about spots in the city we've passed by unaware in the past. You might worry that the weather needs to be nice to enjoy the tour, but as luck would have it we did it in one of the most rainy days possible - there was even a warning the Inn would overflow on that particular day - and everything went on just fine.

Great Food Tour -we do them every time we go to a new city and this one was one of the best! Lots of food, great variety, and wonderful quality. Lots of little tidbits of information regarding the food it’s history and it’s significance- many personnel anecdotes. Kurt was very knowledgeable and clearly very passionate about his Country and City - so much information and great ideas of the authentic places to eat - You will not be disappointed but plan on spending the whole day -it turned out to be a long tour 5+ hours.
