Amazing and Fun activity, we got to milk a cow, make cheese, ride a house for 3 hours in the most beautiful valley and river tras you can imagine.

Incredible experience that our entire family loved. The pictures and videos captured are priceless. Our kids are already asking when we can go back!

Book this trip! It is so much more than horse back riding. The family’s hospitality is second to none! I love this family! It is such an authentic experience. I was very nervous at first but my horse, Panzón, was so surefooted, that I could ride with my eyes closed… literally. The food and drink was delicious! You will not be disappointed!!

Highly recommend Xotolar ranch! The whole operation is owned and run by three generations of a large family, most of whom live on the ranch, and they take great care of you. We went twice and both times were paired with an english speaking member of the family to pick us up and tell us about the place and how to handle their horses (huge thank you to Leo and Thomás). In addition at least 3 lovely cowboys accompanied us for each ride and helped look out for everyone. Thomás and Leo and the other gentlemen who accompanied us were all wonderful. Between how well the horses know their jobs and having so many capable hands on deck making sure everything going well, all the rider really needs to worry about is staying on. They let you do short bursts of canter/hand gallop, which is great fun, but if you do not have riding experience, be aware that this will be an adventure and there are always risks anytime you ride any horse, however you could not ask for better hands to be in. Oh, and they even lend you a sun hat and take pictures from horseback of the ride for you from your phone! It's a wonderful way to explore the canyons around San Miguel and learn more about the history and changes of the area. The cooking also deserves a special mention, as Thomás's sister/Leo's aunt made the most delicious authentic meals for us to enjoy.

This experience was absolutely amazing ! The views were beautiful! Going through the terrain and seeing canyons and ravines . The family owns this ranch are the absolute sweetest people ever ! You won’t be disappointed , worth every penny for the experience!

The highlight of our San Miguel de Allende trip. Tomas and his family are extremely hospitable, funny and warm people. The riding excursion was also doable for beginners. We would love to come back!!!

If you are visiting San Miguel De Allende you have to check this activity out, it will not disappoint you. My partner and I took a mini vacation to San Miguel this week. While on our vacation, we went on tik tok and came across this place. The videos that we saw spoke highly about this place so we decided to book the excursion. Here are the reasons why it’s worth booking the excursion and why we enjoyed it: 1. They were so accommodating: we booked the night before for the 9am excursion and they still accepted our reservation. 2. Transportation: they pick you up from where you are staying which is a plus. The ranch is about 30-45min away from San Miguel. 3. Hospitality: the entire staff was very hospitable since the beginning. This is a family own business so they made us feel like we were at home. They took pictures of us which was nice of them to do. 4. History & Food: the 9am tour included milking a cow and seeing the processing of the queso fresco. They told us all about the history of how the business started which was heartwarming because you can see the hard work and dedication that they put into this business. Additionally, the lunch that is provided is a 10/10 (homemade food). I highly recommend this place! It will not disappoint you. Thank you again to all the staff members that made us feel like we were at home.

The trip was wonderful. It was a great experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Thomas was exceptional and the horses were well-behaved.

Incredible tour, amazing guide, wonderful experience from start to finish! We did the half day sunset tour and had an unbelievable time. Tomás and his family are excellent hosts! He is so funny, great camera man, and singer and most of all provided a beautiful scenic and adventurous horse back ride through SMA!!! We will definitely come back! This is a must for anyone visiting the city!!!

The horseback riding tour at Rancho Xolotar was, hands down, the best riding tour I have ever done. I went with my friend Andrea, and if we weren't laughing about our skills, we were in awe of the scenery all around us. Gustavo was an EXCELLENT host. He was fun, energetic and so much fun. I want to go back as soon as possible! One of the best parts of the tour was sharing lunch in the ranch kitchen. Gustavo's Aunt made delicious, humble dishes. This really touched my heart. Highly recommend Horseback Riding with Rancho Xotolar! The whole experience was really excellent. Gustavo and the rest of the Xotolar family took very good care of us in an amazing horseback ride through the canyons and hills of their beautiful property! The ride was one of the best I have ever experienced with lot's of variety and beautiful vistas as far as the eyes can see! The staff are true professionals who obviously love what they do! Along with the wonderful ride, we had the opportunity to milk a cow, taste fresh cheese. And to end our day we enjoyed a delicious meal made with love by the staff. Gracias, gracias, gracias!

What an absolutely wonderful experience! Tomás is so genuinely kind and knowledgeable and made the ride fun, entertaining, and safe. The scenery was stunning, riding down into the canyon and through the scrub of the desert. We had a delicious meal afterwards - it was our favorite meal of our entire 3-week trip! This is a MUST DO - highly recommend! It will be the best part of your trip.

This adventure was definitely one that I’ll never forget! Such a great experience. Everything from the hotel pick up and travel to the ranch, the warm welcomes from all of the sweet people we met and all of the adventures. 10/10 recommend. I hadn’t been on a horse in over a decade and everyone made sure we were prepared and safe. Loved riding up and down the beautiful canyons, exploring the ranch, and the food was wonderful! This was one of our favorite activities on our trip to San Miguel. Not only was the horseback riding a blast, but the opportunity to experience a working farm in rural Mexico was something we won't forget. Tomas was extremely kind and genuinely excited to share his family's gorgeous ranch. Topping it all off was a delicious lunch with the freshest ingredients. Highly recommend for the adventurous type looking to try something new outside the city.

This was an incredible experience. Tomas was an amazing host. And thank you to his two nephews, both called Roberto, for their hospitality and expertise as well. You are actually invited into their home. The whole family is so gracious and welcoming. The horse back riding is through some incredibly beautiful landscape. And the lunch afterward is true homemade Mexican food. It was delicious!!!! It was quite an educational experience as well. Loved that part! Thank you to the entire family.

My husband and I were picked up at our hotel in San Miguel de Allende by Gustavo. We had a great time. Best planned event of our trip. We milked a cow and got a quick horse lesson (I have had little experience with horses and was hesitant). The ride was amazing. The family's land has beautiful views. Gustavo and his cousins Roberto and Roberto made me feel very comfortable on the horse. We even went fast! We started with a trot and then advanced to a cantor. Lunch was delicious. I highly recommend this experience! We have not stopped talking about it.

We absolutely loved this tour. The scenery is spectacular. The guides do such a great job to make you feel safe and comfortable. They have great attitudes and make the ride really fun. You start the tour from their home. We learned about the cheese they make, got to milk a cow and had a delicious home cooked meal. If you are looking for an adventure very close to San Miguel this is it! Don’t think twice, you will love it!

This was such an incredible experience from beginning to end. Everyone was so welcoming from the start. They picked us up from our hotel and were very engaging. The horseback riding was such a great experience, including the views from the top of the mountains down to the ravines and back, we enjoyed every second of it. The cowboys were extremely knowledgeable and knew how to handle the horses throughout the ride. It's very evident that they love their work and are very passionate about their community and animals. We felt so comfortable throughout the day. The meal at the end was delicious. All in all, this was the highlight of our trip to San Miguel and we highly recommend it to everyone!!

Absolute must- do activity whilst in San Miguel!!! It was the best trail riding experience I’ve had (the others being in aus). We were cantering along river crossings, around windy paths etc it was a rush. But if you want to make it chill they will cater to that too. We got picked up promptly, driven to the family ranch, milked a cow, rode 2-3 hrs and came back to eat cheese from that milk! So cool. Along with a delicious meal with beers. The most fun authentic experience with the loveliest family. Also the horses aren’t overworked, we saw heaps that were resting in paddocks so they only do one ride a day or less. They are well cared for and some were rescue horses.
