Riding the top of ride was best! Sunrise was great. The driver was friendly and gave us some great facts of the island. And our bike guide The "Marine" was very tentative to everyone's needs. If I did it again I would do the self guided trip. Once given instructions you could handle the bike ride. You have to feel comfortable on the bike tho. You get some Very Fast speed going! We're in our 60s and active. I'd book here again. They have backpacks rain gear tops and bottoms free if needed. Great Experence!!!!

Good tour guides, well organized trip to summit. Have to leave at 3:30am from the site. Very cold, pack your winter coat in addition to taking the company provided windbreaker jacket and pants. Guided tour stops traffic for you. Self guided is mostly same but you have to watch for traffic,

The weather was not cooperative for our trip. It was freezing and raining at the summit so we couldn't see the sunrise. It rained while we rode the bikes. I also didn't realize we were riding on a road so that was a little disappointing, but it was still a fun experience.

We’re so glad we decided to do this tour! There are so many to choose from on the island, but I feel that we made the best choice with this one! Our driver, Eddie, was terrific! He did an excellent job of explaining his culture and making us laugh at 4am! You can just tell he loves what he does! He took some pretty awesome photos of us! Observing the sunrise was an incredible experience! It was worth the 2am wake up. Highly recommend! The actual bike riding down after the sunrise was amazing and had phenomenal views! Drew also shared pertinent information and kept us laughing. Maholo to Eddie, Drew, and their team for such a fun morning on my husband’s birthday!

Note: as of this review, the description is not accurate. Coffee and breakfast stop has been eliminated. The pick up time is 3:30 am when nothing is open. If they were not providing breakfast before an extensive bike trip, it would have been nice to know ahead of time so we could have made other plans for ourselves. The tour itself was all the other reviews have stated. No regrets, just wish we hadn’t been exerting ourselves on empty bellies !

The whole thing was great. Very nice people and willing to help you out when your are having bike issues. They provide wind/rain breakers which was much needed

What an amazing day! Don’t let the early time deter you from booking this excursion. We started with an overview of bike safety and getting fitted for helmets and picking out rain gear. We then started our trek up the volcano in an air conditioned van driven by Eddie who shared interesting facts and stories. We arrived at the summit area about 20 minutes before sunrise and it was a stunning view with plenty of opportunities for great photos. We then headed down the volcano for the duration of the trip on bikes. Russell and the crew were great! I was very nervous about the downhill portion on the ride and Russell couldn’t have been a better coach. Long story short, I was able to complete the ride with the extra support! Along the way we got several photos ops and even got a photo with a chameleon! What a great day! Highly recommend!

There was no sunrise, too cloudy. That was out of anyone’s control. The tour guides were awesome. Not sure it was worth the sleep deprivation, cold bus ride, freezing temperatures, lack of food opportunities, or being trapped on a bus with the most annoying person I’ve ever met in my life (another visitor). But when else can you ride a bike down a volcano just to say you did? Their website needs to be updated, there was not one opportunity to purchase food like the website suggests and gloves were not provided.

The drive up was really fun. Our driver buddy was super funny. The walk-through with the Bicycles was good and easy in the morning Bright & earlierearlier at 3:30 AM. Ben, we had a bit of a disappointment because I do not realize and nobody had told me that the ride does no longer continue through the town so instead of having a long ride we had to break it up get in the van and then restart it again. It was not what I had anticipated , we did not ride for longer than I would say 25 minutes the rest was spent doing photo opportunities and safety talks Anyway lesson learned

We had an amazing experience on this tour! We thought we would just see a sunrise and ride a bike back down but we learned so much about Hawaii and its history, culture, landscape and food. Russell was an awesome tour guide - very informative and humorous. I could not recommend this tour more. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

The views here are impeccable. Such a great experience and change of scenery after hanging on the beach for some days. If you plan to do this, make sure to pack warm clothes. The gear they give you helps a ton but will definitely want a hat and jacket on. The only thing I would have done differently was done the self-guided tour on the way down. You can go your own speed and still see all the amazing views. If history is more your thing and you like to ride smooth, the guided tour is an amazing option. Drew and Eddie-Buddy were hilarious and great guides. Made the van ride up the volcano a great time. This is a must do!

This was one of the highlights of our trip! The guides were awesome! They explained in great detail how to safely ride. I was very nervous at first but as soon as I started riding I understood everything they were telling us. If I ever go back this will at the top of my list!

What an absolutely amazing experience!! The sunrise was great! I was a little nervous but our guides were fantastic! They explained everything we needed to know before we began our adventure! It was one of the greatest things we did on our Hawaiian trip! We highly recommend this, you will love it!

Our sunrise at Haleakala and guided bike tour was AMAZING! I was nervous about the bike ride but Russell, our guide, was so good - he knew just what to do to make sure I felt safe and comfortable. The guides knew just the right views to stop for, they were funny and fun, we got amazing photos and had an unforgettable adventure. Bring warm clothes for sunrise, but you will shed layers as you ride down. This is the company to go with!

Watching the sunrise over the volcano was spectacular! Riding bikes down the switchbacks on the mountain was exciting and well conducted. The guides gave great lessons and were very safety conscious.

Phil and his team are amazing. Dan picked us up promptly at 2:45 am at our condo. He knew exactly how softly to speak and give tours along the way - while some of us chose to sleep. The sunrise was one for the books. And hearing the Haleakalā sunrise chant threw the experience over the top (Google it). Russel, our bike guide, was exactly what you want- experienced adventure seeker, naturalist, historian and stand up comedian (all in one). The bikes and gear were top notch. The restaurant at the end of the tour was excellent. Definitely pack/wear your warmest clothing for sunrise and shed layers as needed on the way down. Some people brought blankets (we wish we had). The sag wagon/tour bus will be right behind you while biking and easy to access as needed.

This was a great experience. We were a little disappointed that we couldn’t ride down the whole way but that was not the fault of the company- relatively new laws and contracts with the National Park and the city of Kula limit how far commercial guides can take their customers. We did do the switchbacks twice and that alone was thrilling, hence the five stars. Sunset was beautiful but flipping cold do take the pants and jackets they offer you! You can always ditch them before you ride. I appreciated the guided tour as I’m not a super experienced rider (I’m good enough but don’t do it all the time), and the instruction we got helped ease what anxiety I had. All in all super fun!

The view was spectacular and the tour guide Eddy was great. our bike ride down with Russell was scary but fun. Beautiful day and view to match.

What an amazing experience! From the breath taking sunrise to the downhill thrill of the switchbacks of Haleakala to the treats in Makawao to stories of the island I would highly recommend this adventure. Eddie Buddy was a fantastic host and story teller while Drew was laid back and fun on the bike. My 14-year old daughter was apprehensive about biking but once she got on the bike, she was fearless with the speed and turns. My family and I definitely made some memories with Bike Maui.
