our trip was cancelled due to weather. However we were not aware of that until the driver pulled up to the gate and there was a sign that said "closed". It is unfortunate that the mine can't communicate to the travel company that they were closing. It wasted everyone's time. Our tour guide/driver was a delight and she was fabulous. I would more than likely try and go again if in that area again but was disappointed it was cancelled and the mine didn't give notice.

We found out that you can just drive to the copper mine and take the shuttle for $6.00 per person. The information provided during the ride there was predominantly available on site in the form of signs. Save yourself a hundred plus dollars per person and drive there. The mine itself is very cool but I would not recommend the guided tour at all!!!

Our trip was canceled because of inclement weather. But the good thing was we were refunded. We were really looking forward to seeing the copper mine.

The tour van picked us up at the Radisson hotel in downtown about 10 minutes before 1:00. It was clean and new. The tour guide was a retired high school science teacher, very friendly and knowledgeable about the copper mine and good at explaining technical things in a nontechnical way. The drive to the copper mine had beautiful views of the mountains and it felt great to get out of the city and be up in the mountains. The copper mine is thousands of feet above the city so it was maybe 15 degrees colder. There was still a lot of snow in the mountains. There is a small gift shop with some copper souvenirs. Not really any food to purchase. We saw deer on the way there and some antelope on the way back. Another couple on the tour said they saw more antelope today going to the copper mine than they did going to Antelope Island yesterday. I think this is the best thing to do if you want to get out of the city and see the mountains. We were originally trying to decide between this tour or the Antelope Island and after talking to the couple on the tour who went yesterday they said we made the right choice because there’s not much to see on Antelope’s Island and the biting bugs were awful. They agreed the copper mine is much more unique and memorable. The tour guide really helped a lot otherwise we wouldn’t know most of what we were looking at.

Very interesting technical challenge and project. Guide was very knowledgeable about the mining process details and history. Pick up and drop off were on time. Small group in a small bus made the tour easy and comfortable. Sunny day was a plus. Ride to the mine took about an hour. Had more than enought time at the mine to take in the operations. Scale of the mmining equipment was massive. Mining will continue for another 50 to 100 years.

We've taken the guided trip up, expecting some information center with audio/visual presentation but nothing like that. You get to two floors overviewing the mines with some artifacts and some printed information. Very little of shadow and no a/c on top. Yet, toilets are available. Last bus to come down on 4PM. Still, site is impressive and the little shop sells mostly items crafted in China rather than items directly related to the copper mined at site- which is indeed a bit disappointing. All in all, worth the 30 minutes ride from SLC downtown.

My daughter and I went on a rainy day and still had a great time. You get to the Mine and take a small bus up the windy road and you get out and look out over the incredible sights of the mining. There is a very interesting history on boards where you learn everything there is to know about the mine. Would like to go back on a nicer day too. Their gift shop was quite nice too. Great for the whole family.

Jim, a retired math and science teacher, led this amazing tour. The drive from Salt Lake City out to the mine takes about 45 minutes. What could have been a long, boring drive turned out to be a fascinating learning experience. Jim told us all about mining in Utah, from the 19th-century silver mining at Park City to the mind-blowing facts about the copper mine we were about to see. Once at the mine, we had ample opportunity to observe the operations from the rim of the "world's biggest man-made hole." I would highly recommend this experience!

This tour was good. We only got to see it from the observation deck approximately 5000 feet up. Did see the transporting the miner via truck out of the mine to their different destinations. Fascinating to see.

The tour of the copper mines was great! The pickup at our hotel was right on time and the driver was also our tour guide. He is very knowledgable and clearly enjoys doing tours and teaching visitors about this mine. He also shared a lot of information about the history of Salt Lake City and some stories on the drive along the way. We highly recommend this!

That said Steve offered us a credit for another tour which was very nice and left us feeling very satisfied. Our problem was we paid 60$ plus for 4 people but didn’t need the ride from the hotel and just wanted to meet a the mine for the tour. That was agreed by their staff and when we arrived at the mine we found out it was only 5$ so calling Steve he made it right and the guide did offer nice insights on the mine that we missed. Knowing all this we would have planned differently. They run a solid business and have other tours that sound very nice.

We found this very interesting and unusual. Our bus driver was informative and helpful. The new viewing area is nice and it’s amazing to watch the mine operation in action.

Our driver/tour guide, Jim, did a very good job telling us about the mine on the way out, and providing the background needed to understand what we would be seeing. The mine itself is amazing, and the scale is so large that it is easy to forget how huge the trucks are that move the stone and ore out of this immense terraced pit. You transfer from the tour bus to a mine company bus for the last 5-10 minutes to get to the observation area. You see a couple of good videos in the bus and there are some items on display at the observation area to help you understand what the equipment is like. I liked the tour, and the good guide enhanced the experience. Note that only portable toilets are available at the mine, and food and drink are not sold there. Bring your own if you want them. The tour is accessible to people with limited mobility, though I am not certain about wheelchairs.
