Despite the frigid weather, it was a lovely experience. We saw a humpback breach, and a pod of Orcas. Great day

We had a wonderful time. The staff who led the excursion were great! And we saw a humpback whale along with other marine life.

I missed the place on their booking site where I could redeem my Groupon 40% discount. I decided to book at full price and work out the discount with them when I arrived. They would not accept the discount so I wound up paying $180 more for my whole family just because I did not push the right button.

Having a marine biologist guide (Liberty) was awesome - we learned a lot more than on other whale watching trips in the past. And we were incredibly fortunate to encounter a group of 6 mammal eating orcas in the midst of a hunt.

Very knowledgeable crew. Didn't see that many animals, but views and weather was perfect. Did get a few good pictures.

What a fun and successful trip. Our captain knew where to go, did not get too close to the whales, and gave everyone ample time to watch and take photos. I've been whale watching before, but this was by far the best and most enjoyable trip I've been on. I can't wait to go again next year.

I’m giving this four stars because the man who answers the phone is pretty damned rude-story about that below. The captain went out of his way yesterday to find orcas, driving 100miles around the islands in four hours, relentlessly searching, and we are eternally grateful to have been able to see these magical sentient beings. It was a beautiful family of four orcas with a new calf, and Katie filled us in on the orca research on this family and other transients, their markings, behaviors, habitat, and other information. She was very informative. We had to go into Canadian waters to see them, which was a blast in and of itself. The weather was amazing. However, the phone call we made to find the location of the meeting place was very annoying. Trip Advisor says is in Eastsound, which is on the north side of the island, and when we called about the confusing directions, the man sounded very testy when he said it was by the ferry terminal. Obviously, he’s had to do this before. So why not fix the confusing wording so you don’t get sick of telling your paying customers? We told Katie about the wording and she said, I believe prompted by someone, that “Eastsound” is essentially the whole island, and implied that isn’t a problem. Well, unless you live on the island, you’re not going to know that, of course. We get it that dealing with tourists is tedious, but this seems like an easy fix to not have to answer the same question repeatedly, and to not be rude to your customers who are just trying to get to your location. Luckily, the rude person manning the phones didn’t take away from our orca sighting shine.

The trip was excellent. We saw a lot of wildlife the naturalists were very knowledgeable about what we were looking at. We had the rare opportunity to see southern resident orcas, harbor seals, sea lions, bald eagles, and mouflan sheep.

The meeting place was easy to find. The crew were kind and knowledgeable. We did see humpback whales about an hour and a half into the tour on what I think was the Canada side. We were unable to find seating together as a family inside out of the cold, so we were uncomfortable for the nearly four hour duration. Maybe it would be most enjoyable in warmer months or when there will be less people onboard so a family can sit together inside. All in all it was ok.

Wonderful experience! We hung out around a pod of Orcas for about an hour provide ample opportunity to see them. Guide was extensively knowledgeable and friendly. We also saw harbor seals and sealions in their commonly visited areas. Being early October I was prepared for cold but we were provided with warm and waterproof coats as well. Entire trip was just under 4 hours. Go ahead and take the early and late ferries because you don't want the stress!

Phil and Liberty were great guides on our whale watching trip. We saw multiple pods of Orcas. Their knowledge of the area and the whales enhanced our experience. We saw the Orcas eating and then playing after dinner. Phil positioned the boat so that Mount Baker was in the background for our photos. I highly recommend the whale watching tour from Orcas island!!!

As a born and raised PNW girl it's been a life long dream to see orcas in the wild. We knew it was a long shot and we're eager to see whatever was out and about during our trip. Well, not only did we see an orca, we saw a few pods and got to watch from a safe distance allowing the orcas to hunt and eat (I didn't know if I should cheer on the orcas or the poor little seal) at multiple points. The caption and naturalist we're incredibly kind and eager to answer the ships many questions. The care and intentionality to preserve, respect, and protect the marine life was abundantly clear. 10/10 recommend!

We ended up on the T (for terrible) boat. They crammed in 12 of us in where there was really only comfortable seating for 10. I had a view of the head and my wife stood for 1 1/2 hour ride through the Straight of Georgia. On the ride back a couple sat outside on a large cooler so there was more room to sit inside. It was a warm day and the boat was hot and very smelly. Eventually the captain agreed to open a door and let in some fresh air. The captain only provided basic information about the surrounding area and wildlife, usually in response to a question. He also said something rather worrisome given what we’ve learned since about whale watching boats harassing and disrupting whales. He pointed out another boat and said it had been“holding” the orca pod in that area waiting for us to arrive. I wish I’d asked more specifically what he meant. He did explain that he wasn’t allowed to chase or cross the orcas’ path or get within a specific number of meters, and he seamed to be following those guidelines. It was pretty amazing to see the orcas.

This felt like we were chasing the whales around with a group of other tour boats. Not the experience I had hoped for. I’d suggest just trying to view the whales from shore. This will be my last “whale watch”— you could tell the whales were just tying to get away. Sad.

While watching a small pod (4-5) of Orcas teach the youngest to hunt/kill a seal; it spots our boat and ends up hiding out underneath for 1-1.5hrs. The Orca family eventually gives up after the frustration of attempting to finish the kill never happened. Such an amazingly epic experience! The crew (Captain Nate & deckhand Kacey <- probably wrong, sorry!) were terrific and extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommended! Intend to book tours whenever family/friends come to visit us in the PNW.

What a fabulous experience. I would do it again in a heartbeat. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, everyone was courteous and it didn't hurt that the weather was drop-dead gorgeous. Didn't see orcas, but did see a humpback, harbor seals and exotic deer on the private island. Perfect! Highly recommend.
