Leo was a great communicator and fun tour guide. We felt safe and well-cared for with him. Our hike at Gubeikou was fantastic with hardly any other tourists and same story with Jinshanling at sunset - amazing experience that surpassed our expectations. Additionally, Leo is a fantastic photographer and took beautiful photos of us that he sent the following day. He even suggested a nice place for us to have dinner and dropped us off there which was very convenient.

We booked this trip without getting a chance to really read many reviews or research as our time was short. It was an amazing introduction to the Great Wall and Adele was a fantastic guide. There was practically no one on our Gubeiko hike and little to no one on the Jinshanling hike. We preferred Jinshanling as it was more of how we pictured the Great Wall to be.

This was the coolest trip ever! Seeing the old unrestored area of the wall was incredible. The meal was very authentic and delicious! And the second portion of the wall that was more restored was stunning!!! Like I’d always dreamed it would look like. Leo shared so many stories about the history and construction of the wall, and helped me (solo mid-30s lady) make the day one of the most memorable travel experiences of my life. He also offered and took the best instagram-worthy pictures and videos of me standing, sitting and even just walking along the wall. I’d recommend this trip, and Leo, for anyone visiting Beijing, but especially for solo travelers or couples! I hope to come back and do it again one day!!

We had the most wonderful tour with Leo! He is a great and funny guide who shows you the very best places of the Great Wall! He took stunning photos for and from us. We went to a local restaurant together and had a delicious lunch. It was our best experience around Beijing and we would highly recommend to do a tour with him when you are thinking about visiting the Great Wall!

Leo was a fantastic tour guide who showed us the perfect spots on the wall for viewing and pictures! He is also a professional photographer so the pictures he takes of you are high quality. We shared many laughs throughout the day. We are so glad we took this tour, and I highly recommend it to anyone!

If it were possible to give a higher star rating for this tour lead by Adele, I would!   During the booking process, we were asked if we had any special dietary restrictions. In as simple of terms as possible, I conveyed that my spouse had undergone stomach surgery and had to follow a very specific diet. I provided a few examples of foods that would be permissible and left it at that—planning, as we do for all of our travels, to have plenty of items on hand that fit the dietary restrictions.   Adele made a special point to kindly and politely learn more about my spouse’s needs. She expanded her understanding of the condition, and she had a special (and delicious I might add) lunch curated to fit our needs. The level of care and concern that she exhibited was exceptional!   Adele and the driver arrived at our hotel early, and she greeted us in the lobby with a smile and warm welcome. The car was clean, well kept, and comfortable. Conversation with Adele was easy, friendly, and warm. As we zipped along out of the city, Adele provided us with history on multiple fronts: Chinese history and Great Wall history. The drive progressed smoothly, and the scenery changed from that of an urban capital to craggy mountains, vast chestnut orchards, and beautiful vistas.   The tour is divided into two parts: Gubeikou and Jinshanling.   While I have no other Great Wall experience to compare it to, I did a lot of research in planning for this trip. The Great Wall was our final journey in completing the Seven World Wonders. I wanted to experience a—mostly untouched—portion of the wall, but I also wanted to see a restored portion without the throngs of 10,000 other tourists. This tour checked every one of those boxes, and then some!   Anyone wanting to experience the majesty and beauty of the Great Wall should book this tour with Adele. In my opinion, this tour is suitable for children 12 and up. Hikers should have average fitness, slightly above average flexibility, slightly above average climbing skills, and slightly above average balance.

Avoid the huge crowds at the usual tourist areas to see the Great Wall at these two remote areas. We spent hours at these locations and were able to see the wall and take photos with no crowds of people. Our guide Leo is wonderful. He speaks English very well and is very knowledgeable but does not overwhelm you with a constant stream of chatter. Be prepared to walk a lot, but you will be blown away by the majesty of these locations. Can’t thank Leo enough for this great tour!

Leo was a fantastic guide - perfect English, safe driving, very caring, friendly and knew how to get even our teenagers smiling! Lunch was yum too. This trip was the best thing we did in our 3 weeks in China - the wall was beautiful, wild and and Leo has designed a tour away from the crowds and so beautiful. Do this tour!!

This was by far the best tour I've ever done. Leo is so attentive to your needs, so willing to go the extra mile to show you hidden parts of the Great Wall. As the photos indicate, we went to places where there were no other tourists, where you could enjoy the wall in peace and take in the breathtaking views. Leo tailors the tour to your needs, so if you dont like hiking he will find a shorter (but equally as beautiful) route, if you like hiking then a longer one is done. It felt really personal. The lunch was excellent and overall this was such a wonderful experience. Highly recommend.

My partner and I booked the tour with Leo and the process was very easy - he gave us his contact information and was very responsive. The tour itself exceeded all of our expectations - it was a fantastic experience. We saw amazing views of the Great Wall and first got to see the Wild Wall that has been untouched for 2,000 years. This is something you will not get to see on standard tours so we felt very lucky. Our lunch was delicious and was a very local experience - the Kungpao chicken, mutton and pork belly were all delicious! Finally, we went to Jinshaling part of the wall where we had spectacular views at sunset. The entire day we did not see any other tourists - it made our experience feel so special and authentic. Leo is a photographer and took 100+ photos of us and edited/sent them all within 12 hour! He also taught us a lot of history during the drive to the Great Wall. Definitely book this tour with Leo for the best possible experience when seeing the Great Wall! Highly recommend.

We had an amazing time with Leo at the Gubeikou and Jinshanling sections! It was a pleasure to hang out with Leo and know more about Chinese history. He is the best photographer ever!! Took some pretty cool pictures of us, even better than our own wedding photos hahaha. These sections of the great wall are so inspiring. At Gubeikou you can see the natural state of the great wall with no rebuilding. At Jinshanling you can see 40 year old rebuilding and its a awesome contrast to see. We are extremely happy with this tour and Leo. We definitely take more tours with Leo in the future!

I write reviews so they really reflect my experiences so to help people looking for tours etc. This tour was just brilliant. Leo, the guide called me at the hotel and asked if I wanted to start earlier and I said I did. We met at the hotel and introduced each other. From the moment we met it was so easy to get along. He explained what we were going to do but emphasised he was flexible and it could be adjusted. Leo's English is FIRST CLASS. Honestly, it was brilliant to have such a great English speaker. Not just to explain things but to talk to each other. We spent over 10 hours together and got on really well. Leo is friendly and intelligent. We spoke about so many things. He knew i was happy to hike and that i would prefer non tourist areas and so, brilliantly, he chose two sections of the wall to visit. We has the place to ourselves almost. We probably saw 8 to 10 other people but that was the limit. The weather was great too. I cannot recommend this tour enough. Leo was excellent and it was a brilliant day. Travelling from the UK to China is not something I will do regularly and so I was so hoping the visit to the wall would be memorable. It was and that is down to this tour. If you want to make sure you don't book a bad tour, book this...it was SUPERB.

This trip is just fantastic - the drive is a little longer than the closer parts of the wall to Beijing (a little over two hours) but Leo was a great driver and had a great car so time flew by. The two parts of the wall we visited are both very different to each other, Gubeikou almost deserted and Jinshanling is just a view of perfection as it winds away across the hills. We walked about 15km in total between the two. You can’t fail to be amazed. But what made this tour so great was Leo, our guide for the day. He was polite and good communication prior to the tour - he offered to start a little earlier because of the earlier sunset which turned out a good idea - he was great conversation about the wall itself and about sport and family; he was welcoming, courteous and made the trip so special. He allowed us to walk a little more of the wall than initially planned so we could soak in all those views. He also brought his own camera with him too and took some great hi-definition photos in multiple places and we stopped for some great food at a local restaurant. Such a brilliant, fantastic day out and I’m so grateful for the efforts.

What an incredible way to see the famed Great Wall of China. While most choose to visit the parts of the wall closest to the city, this tour takes you 2.5 hours north to a remote and astonishingly breathtaking section of the wall. It was otherworldly as we meandered the wall almost completely alone except for our incredible guide Liu. Do not hesitate to choose this tour. You will mot regret it.

We had an awesome tour with Leo. He took us to two spots on the Wall where we had amazing views and there were very few people. Lunch was tasty and he also took some great photos for us. If you are considering going to the Great Wall, we would definitely recommend this tour with Leo!

We booked this tour out of the multitude of Great Wall tours offered by various operators as this was genuinely a private tour with a private guide and dedicated driver. This meant we could discuss the itinerary with flexibility. Highly recommend touring this section of the Great Wall even though it’s further from Beijing as there were barely any other tourists and our pictures were incredible! A big thank you to Adele our tour guide for her efforts in making it a wonderful day out for us!
