Great 3 hours walking tour with a smart 40 mn part in an aircond place to take a fresh juice. Guide was very knowledgeable and funny.

My partner is a fan of Gabriel Garcia Marquez…..and I have never read his books. I thought this would be an interesting lens to look through to gain a deeper understanding of Cartagena and this Nobel Prize winning author. I was not wrong! Duran Duran, the tour guide….has an incredible wealth of information about “Gabo” and his life and his writing. He was able to bring him “alive” here in a city that was central to his life. Duran Duran tells stories with great animation. He is clearly excited to share this knowledge with his participants. The pace was great….not too fast, not too slow… We walked around the walled city and saw many of the places that were a part of Gabo’s life. We had already done a walking tour the day before….and this tour, just brought another layer of understanding of the influence of the region and the culture on his writing and the importance of Cartagena in his body of work. We highly recommend this tour to anyone that is a fan of Marquez and would like to have an in depth understanding of this man and his life. Duran Duran took us to a book store where we were able to buy Marquez’s books….and I will most definitely begin reading!! Duran Duran is generous with his knowledge, enthusiastic about Gabo and wildly knowledgeable about Cartagena…. an exceptional tour guide!

Bringing the streets of Cartagena to life with history, humor and the personality/ imagination of Gabo!

This tour was one of the highlights of our visit to Cartagena. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the places and walking the streets that were inspirations for Marquez's books and stories. And our guide was so animated and made the the books come alive through his stories and actually reading parts of the books throughout the tour. Highly recommend this tour!

Angel give us the experience Gabo literature deserve. We booked an English tour, but he gave us an italian fluent experience, since my girlfriend is from Italy. The secrets of the city, with a coffee and an “matrimonio” dish (patacón with cheese) make this tour one you must take if you’re a Gabo fan

The best tour I’ve had and the most amazing tour guide. We talked a lot about Gabo, Cartagena and life itself. I’d recommend it to everyone even if they have a limited knowledge of Gabo because the tour itself is so full of knowledge and anecdotes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Duran Duran. We did two tours on successive days, the Old City Walking tour and the Gabriel Garcia Marquez walking tour. Duran Duran brings the history and subject alive with stories and mini performances that we thoroughly enjoyed. The Duran Duran tour was wonderful! Got a lot of colorful stories about the writer and man - both from his time in Cartagena and his life and family and cultural impact across Colombia and the world. Saw some super cool spots that inspired and shaped him and a great walking tour of the walled city along the way. I definitely recommend this local small business for tours in this area!

The tour was very interactive and informative. We learned so much about Gabo's many literary works and relationships to world leaders. Some in our group were not that familiar with Gabo's books, but still enjoyed the tour. Duran was such a great story teller and very knowledgable. Would definitely recommend this tour!

He has studied and read deeply Gabriel Garcia Marques. He brings his understanding to life with great story telling. I suggest to revisit your readings of the major works because it will make your journey so much more enjoyable.

We don't typically do a lot of organized tours when we vacation, but we're so glad we booked a Gabo tour with Duran Duran Tours. Sr. Duran is an animated presenter and passionate about the subject of this tour. He pulled us into the details of this one-of-kind author/journalist's life from the very first minutes of our tour. We had a great four hour tour through Cartagena with Gabriel Garcia in late September, 2022. He was punctual, entertaining, informative and overall made our day. We felt we learned a lot, and enjoyed every step. We saw parts of the city we would not have otherwise experienced - well worth the time and effort.

This is a tour for everyone. People familiar with Marquez. People who’ve never heard of him. Most importantly it’s a tour for people who love books and the spirit that drives everyone who creates. It’s a mix of history, literature, biography, and urban studies. And, it’s full of beautiful sites and well-told stories. Stories that are told with kindness, simplicity, and a love for their subject. This is the best tour I’ve ever been on, and like Gabo’s books, I’ll remember it forever.

I'm part Colombian and wanted to give my Slovak partner and my baby some insight into the works of Gabo and Colombia's 'magic'. Duran made that happen. He brought the works and influences of Gabo to life through a walking tour of Cartagena. 3 hours flew by. We left with a greater love and appreciation for Colombia and a lengthy reading list comprising of the works of Gabo! This tour is very much recommended! Caras vemos, corazones no sabemos.
