We loved our morning with Amanda. She kept the whole family, including two teens (15 and 17) engaged with information about Conwy and the castle. She taught us how to figure out how castles worked defensively, and we were able to take her information and figure out other castles as well. She has a bevy of knowledge about all things Conwy and is fascinating to listen to her. Highly recommend any of her tours!

My tour of Conwy Castle was far more interesting with my guide Amanda providing context, history and background for the structure itself and why it was built. My tour of the City and Castle was at a nice pace and made far richer and enjoyable eith my guide's obvious enthusiasm and depth of knowledge, A really nice day out!

You ask a minor question and she has an entire background story and history to tell you all about it and bring the magical experience to life for you. We booked a private tour with Amanda, for our family (7 year old twin girls, and an 11 year old boy) We had such a lovely time. Amanda was really flexible and kind, she adjusted the tour according to our needs and what we wanted to see and learn. She was really knowledgeable and gave us alot of information and fun facts about the history of the Castle and the town. She managed to keep the kids interested throughout and very patiently answered all their questions. We definitely recommend booking a tour with Amanda, the castle really comes alive and you can almost picture what went on during those times when Amanda tells you all the stories :)

I cannot recommend this highly enough! We are traveling to several castles during our 9-day trip, and with Amanda’s tour, this experience was by far our favorite. The castle itself is of course magical, but with her narration (not a script, very engaging and conversational), it was MUCH more interesting. When back in this area, we will definitely seek out any tour she does! Everyone found it fascinating— even the 7-year old who initially didn’t seem into it was asking all sorts of questions within 5 minutes of Amanda starting her magic. And the history buff adults also got rich new information.

Incredible tour. Very knowledgeable and flexible guide who made the history of Wales and Conwy come alive for us. We toured Caernafon castle ourselves the previous day unguided and our teenage children were disengaged and uninterested. The contrast was unbelievable! Amanda spoke to all of us about Wales, Conwy and the history of Conwy castle in a way that invited questions and encouraged dialogue.

We had a lovely tour with Amanda. Our kids are quite young (5 and 7) but she adapted to keep them fully engaged for 1.5 hours around the castle. It was really interesting and a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

We booked our guide, Amanda, through Tours by Locals and she was excellent, providing just the right amount of information about each of the sites we visited. Amanda was polite, knowledgeable and very helpful. The walking pace was ideal for a couple in their late 60s. Amanda met us at our hotel in Conwy town centre. The tour included the harbour, the smallest house in Great Britain, Conwy castle, the town walls and St Mary’s church. Amanda also showed us the best places to shop for cakes, chocolates, cheese and pork pies n the town. Highly recommended.
