I booked at the last minute the night before and it was nice of the tour company to let me do so.
Professor Ameen Ahmed was the tour guide, a renowned Egyptologist, snd an all-around nice guy.
It was a packed day and you will need to bring your tennis shoes for comfortable walking.
The things we saw at these ancient sites were only made better (and allowed me to appreciate them even more) by having Professor Ahmed’s background information on each.
Lunch was huge and so yummy!
The driver was very good and safe, also quite efficient at getting us from location to location.
I hope you do yourself a favor and see these places in the tour. It is easily one of the most memorable days of my life.
Best tour ever and our guide was amazing. The experience of seeing king Tut was all with the drive from hurghada.
This was the best tour I had on my 10-day solo vacation in Egypt. The tour guide Khalid Eltayeb was professional and knowledgeable. He spoke excellent English. Khalid suggested that we visit the Temple of Karnak first in order to avoid the crowds later at the Valley of the Kings which turned out to be a great suggestion. Being a solo traveler, Khalid was kind to take many pictures of me while visiting the various sites. The driver Hassan was always ready and on time to transfer us to the next site. At the end of the tour, I requested that we go to downtown to do some shopping which was accommodated. I can’t recommend to this tour enough especially if you are able to request Khalid as your tour guide in advance. Again, a must do in Luxor. Well done.
We ended up having 2 different tour guides on this trip and even though both had completely different styles they were both very knowledgeable on all the sites and history and very accommodating to everything we needed along the way. We saw so many incredible things on this full day tour. It was a lot but an easy way to see a lot if you don't have much time in Luxor. Our balloon ride ended a little late but they waited for us and made sure everything worked out with the timing so we didn't miss anything. We had an excellent authentic lunch as well. Would highly recommend
The reality is Luxor is huge and spectacular. It really can’t be seen adequately in one day. That being said, we sure tried! Our guide Achmed (sp?) and the Driver Mohammad were remarkable. Everything was on time and the information was incredibly detailed. This tour lasted close to 10-hours and was quite thorough. Achmed was patient and we didn’t feel rushed. As referenced above, there is soooo much to see 2-3 days would be better.
On a personal note, late in the day my wife indicated a desire to take a sunrise balloon ride the next day (our last in Egypt). I’m not sure how he pulled it off on such short notice but Achmed got it all arranged AND texted me the next day to see how it all went. Quite remarkable. Above and beyond and sincerely appreciated.
This tour of Luxor was very educational and interesting. My tour guide, Khalid, and the driver were both great. The pick up and drop off were on time. Khalid was very knowledgeable about the history of these temples and burial sites. He made the information interesting and was easy to understand. I got to see all of the major highlights of Luxor in one tour. I did this as a solo tour so they were able to adapt the schedule of the day to my preferences. Because we started with the East Bank, where I was picked up, I got to see Luxor temple with only 2 or 3 others there. By the time we got to the West bank to see Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut there were more people there, but we missed the large crowds. It was also probably because of the time of year. These sites were amazing and definitely worth seeing. I chose not to pay extra to go into the tomb of King Tut in Valley of the Kings but mainly on recommendation from tour guide and because I had seen the treasures from this tomb already at the Egyptian Museum. I know they still have one of his sarcophagus and his mummy in his tomb so if you really want to see that then you should pay extra to do so. The three rooms that come with the regular ticket were sufficient for me. Be aware of guards at each of these sites who will offer try to get you to let them take a picture of you or show you a special spot for extra tip. They approach you even if you are with a tour guide although tour guides are not allowed in some of the spots, such as the rooms in the Valley of the Kings. Just say no thanks. The lunch that came with this tour was delicious. There was an additional stop to a alabaster factory since the region is known for this. Definitely bargain if you plan to buy something. They start off very high but will go to less than half. Overall, a great tour and a must do if you are staying in Luxor.
My wife and I visited Egypt in October 2019. We had a LONG trip from Chicagoland, including three flights including a connection from Cairo to Luxor (we started in Luxor). After getting to our room (at 12:30AM), unpacking and preparing for our excursion, we finally made it to bed at 1:30AM the same day. Our 8AM meet time came quick, and we met Nagla in the lobby of our hotel and departed for the adventure. The day, from start to end, WAS RIVETING! We had the opportunity to see and experience so many temples, tombs and history that neither my wife/I felt tired at all - despite little sleep the night before. The sights and experience were amazing. Each part of the overall excursion had enough similarities to have a common thread of connection yet different enough to be excited from location to location and hold your interest. Nagla handed us with expert skill, always making us feel time was never an issue yet always getting us through everything and where we needed to be on-time. She spoke perfect english and we didn't encounter a question she couldn't address in some context - and we asked a LOT of questions. She was disarming, engaging and provided a level of comfort that made you feel at ease, allowed you to relax so you could enjoy and did it all with a level of knowledge an expertise that made our minds spin! Lastly, she could read her audience. She always provided information and stories for each site, but could always add more/less depending on level of interest or desire to focus on other items. Truly a pro.
With the Egyptian wonders as the backdrop and Nagla navigating you through the relevance, stories and history, once of the best experiences we have had on a vacation. MUST DO!
I had an excellent tour with Luxor Travels. My tour guide was knowledgeable and informative and was very open to having genuine conversations about the evolution of Egypt as a nation in addition to ancient history and culture. It was very pleasant having a tour guide who was very experienced within the region and the A/C, provided lunch, and local snacks made the ride very enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour and think Luxor is a very necessary piece of the egyptian culture that people miss when they only fly to cairo
My wife and I had but just one day in Luxor and Ragab, our tour guide, ensured we saw the most important sites. He has a complete mastery of the history and geography of Egypt, and took the time to help us understand the significance of the tombs and temples. As well, he explained the complex logistics and construction methods used to build the tombs and temples. We greatly appreciated his humor and quick wit to keep the conversation moving. Good transportation, with wireless internet onboard, and a good driver made the movement from one site to another all the more enjoyable. Definintely a tour worth doing.
My wife and I just toured Egypt and decided to book this tour through Viator. Our tour guide was Ragab who was amazing and spoke
perfect english. He is from Luxor and knows everything about Egyptian history and culture. The tour was very convenient as he met
us at our hotel and spent the entire day taking us from one place to the next. The minivan had ac and they also provided wifi. Ragab
also took us to have a great Egyptian lunch next to the Nile river. I highly recommend this tour to anyone going to Luxor in the near
future. So glad we booked this tour. I give it a 5 star .
Great full day tour of all Luxor's sights with a clear agenda and efficient transport from site to site. Omar was a knowledgable and fun guide and super patient with all my questions and requests. The early start is worth it to make the most of the day. I felt I had seen all the essentials in Luxor after this tour. Omar knew all the sites well and was great at recommending what to look for and pointing out salient features. Great choice of lunch spot too, overlooking the Nile. Highly recommended!
Best tour I had in Egypt with my very accomodating and highly knowledgeable guide Ragab! We had an overload of information but it was awesome!
My tour guide was amazing!!! Now I was a little skeptical about going to Egypt with everything being said in the media but I am here to tell you....no fear, its a trip you should plan. My guide Ragab, was the greatest!!! Even helped me get a last min flight and another tour in Cairo before I left!! They were also accommodating when I missed my tour because of a late train!! I would recommend this for sure! Side note: if you are traveling by yourself no worries...they will help you with taking pictures :. My tour guide also in Cairo was great! Overall, a great experience and well recommended.
This tour was excellent. My guide Ragab El Motgalye was very knowledgeable and happy to answer my questions. Karnak temple is a must see!! Thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Egypt, a fantastic country. Frank, Ireland.
