The tour agency that was on the Viator website does not exist, is out of business. As the hike drew near, we were contacted by Viator to pay (which we did), and texted multiple times to the tour agency (through Viator) with questions, but never heard back. We arrived in town the night before the hike. On the day of the scheduled hike, we went to the designated meeting place—nothing/no one was there. We went to the address of the tour agency—found the building but it was obviously abandoned. Viator responded promptly to my text, said they would investigate. Got back to me within a day, and refunded me within a week. BUT they should do a better job of checking on the businesses that they represent.

I found Turismo montañas del Sur via trip adviser. Rodrigo organised everything and kept me up to date with the weather etc. We met the night before to discuss the trip. They supplied the climbing gear , I just got food and water. Jorge was my guide on the day and was excellent. Getting me up the volcano , describing the scenery and views with regular breathers apart for four regular stops. I would happily advise anyone to use this organisation .

What a fantastic experience climbing Villarrica (Rucapillán) vulcano with Rodrigo! We were blessed with a perfect clear day and managed to be the first team going up. It was incredibly challenging going up almost 3000m on fresh snow...but so worth it! Rodrigo is a very knowledgeable and incredibly caring guide. He's there to support your experience above anything else. We'll never forget that day spent challenging nature and being gifted by Villarrica and Pucon. Thank you so much Rodrigo!

Volcano status of yellow meant we couldn’t hike up to the carter so I didn’t get to see any lava or the full height of the mountain (we did hike pretty high up though). The chest strap on the backpack I had was broken so that made carrying it more difficult. Also, because of the time of year (May) there was not enough snow to slide so we hiked down. Volcano status and time of year are just for reference as those are not related to the particular company you go with. I enjoyed hiking on the snow/ice close to the top. The guide took photos for me and spoke great english!

Amazing tour! Rodrigo and Diego were great guides and made this experience unforgettable! The views were absolutely breathtaking. Even if you're only visiting the area for a few days, this activity is totally worth your time.

I had a blast!!! It was beautiful and super fun! Rodrigo and Diego were amazing guides. Climbing the glacier and sledding down is definitely an experience I will never forget! Climbing Vulcan Villarrica was one of the highlights of our adventures in Chile. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, personable, and got along with everyone. The experience of climbing the snowfields with provided crampons, ice ax, helmet, backpack, etc was outstanding. The guides were very helpful and it was quite the adventure "sledding" down on the provided small sled.

Absolutely an amazing experience. All the staff was lovely and super helpful. It was a last minute plan for us and agency had gone out of the way to help us out in figuring out all the needs and equipment. Once we started hiking all the staff including rodrigo, Ricardo and Louisa were extremely caring, supportive and looked after us on the mountain. 5 stars to the agency and would highly recommend it

After backpacking through Torres del Paine, me and a buddy were up in Pucon looking for more adventure. We were lucky to find Montanas del Sur. Like another poster said, it feels like you're just traveling with friends, not a strict and cookie-cutter guided tour. For the Volcan Villarica hike, all our gear was provided. The views from the top were incredible and being able to say you hiked the most active volcano in South America (which last erupted like 8 years ago) is pretty cool. After reaching the top, instead of just hiking back down, you use these little sleds to slide down -- unbelievably fun. This hike was definitely more fun than we expected and a major highlight of our weeks in Chile. We also went on a tour with Montanas del Sur to Termas Geometricas, a super cool nearby hot springs. Finally, the Montanas guys were very helpful with recommendations for local restaurants, places to visit, shops to stop by, everything. We are so lucky to have found this awesome group!

Amazing experience! Our day was well organized and our guide provided us with all the gear we needed and was very informative. The guides are friendly, very knowledgeable, and accommodate a wide range of ability levels to make sure everyone has a chance to make it to the top! Really a once in a life time to be on top of a working vulcano. My guide Gianni did an excellent job for this ultimate experience. I had only a one day opportunity to make it work. It was a cloudy day so it was the question if we could reach the top due to safety issues. So we went for the glacier first to check the conditions and when we arrived it was clear for Gianni that we could proceed. It was a tough climb but really worth it. It was the first time for me to use crampons, which was really great. The views were amazing and the experience to be on top of a working vulcano even more so! The descending was really cool too. We slided down on a sled and had to break with an ice axe. All cool new experiences which made this day unforgetable!

My partner and I had an amazing experience summiting Volcán Villarica with Rodrigo and Ricardo! Not only was the scenery breathtaking, it felt like a casual outing with friends rather than a guided tour. Both Rodrigo and Ricardo also spoke very good English and were very thoughtful in making sure everyone could understand what was being said. They were super patient, constantly checked on us to make sure we were ok, and took a ton of pictures for everyone! The entire day from start to finish was well thought out and it was really nice to not have to think about planning. We were provided with all the gear we needed (incl. boots, gaiters, trekking poles, crampons, ice axe, backpack...basically everything other than clothes and accessories). Summiting Villarica with these guys is a must-do activity if you are in Púcon and it was the absolute highlight of our time there!

I had such an incredible experience climbing up Vulcan Villarrica with the awesome team at Turismo Montanas del Sur, led by Rodrigo! They were incredibly patient and kind to all the people in our group and were very knowledgeable about the volcano. I would highly recommend this company to any of my friends. This is an adventure I will never forget.

The climb to villarica's crater was incredible, Rodrigo and the other guides made sure everyone was comfortable all the way up. They provida all the necessary gear and transportation. I recomend.

We really enjoyed our trip! The volcano is amazing and the view is out of this world! We had three guides they were all great and super helpful and told us a lot about volcanoes. The equipment was great as well. I really recommend this company😃😃
