This was a wonderful cruise. It rained all day, but that did not take away from the majestic beauty of nature. We saw orcas and Dall's porpoises following the boat, a humpback whale and baby whale, and a grey whale which is not as common. There were puffins, otters, seals and the views were spectacular of the glaciers. We went up close to a waterfall and could see and hear the snow avalanching in a rumble. Lunch was served and it was a pretty good sandwich. The margaritas made with glacier ice were just okay, too sweet for us, but an experience to talk about later. The water was very choppy at times, you have to hold on to the railing or go inside, but we never got seasick. The captain and crew were the best! They were all about safety first. They put a microphone in the water and we were able to hear the whales communicating with each other. It was pretty cool!

We saw a lot, despite a bit dismal weather. We saw orcas, we saw otters, humpback whales bubble net feeding, seals, sealions, puffins, porposies, bald eagles, glaciers... but I was rather disappointed because I missed some sights due to the positioning of the boat. The captain positioned the boat most of the time so that you had to be on the bow of the boat to see the sights, and unfortunately we didn't all fit on the bow of the boat. There were always some people (often me, unfortunately), who were left behind on the steps and not able to look out to whatever we were supposed to see. This happened several times throughout the day, throughout our 8.5hr tour. Even after I told the captain about the issue. Other boat tours I was on in Alaska positioned the boat so that everyone could go to one side of the boat and see, this would've been better.

This tour was amazing. We were able to see so many animals even on a not great weather day. The staff was very helpful and informative. The ability to move in and out of the cabin with the cold rain was fairly efficient for the larger number on the boat. We were able to see a fin whale. This cruise does go out into the bay of Alaska and can get rough at times

Glacier view from the ship was awesome ... Even though it was raining for a majority part of the tour, the staff /crew was extremely caring and made us all comfortable and at ease ... The crew was professional ... The crew took the ship very close to the waterfall from the glaciers and we ended up standing Below the water falls ... That experience was breathtaking

We had planned this trip a few weeks before and the weather turned out to be very rainy and windy. The crew warned us that it was going to be a little rougher than normal. In spite of the conditions the crew did a fabulous job of making the experience memorable. They modified the route to minimize exposure to rough water and maximize our ability to see wildlife and the beautiful land. Highlight was that on our way back we saw a pod of orcas! Terrific experience and crew.

The intense excitement of Scott, Evelyn., and our captain when they spotted Matuska the killer whale made all of us aware that something special was happening. This was the best experience that I can remember. Thanks again.

This was one of the best excursions I took during my two-week Alaskan cruise. We saw so many glaciers and the most incredible scenery during our 8.5 hour trip. Our guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Lunch was great! The pictures (see attached) will say more than I could ever put in words. If you've got a whole day to spend in Seward, do NOT miss the chance to take this excursion!

Debated whether to go on a shorter cruise but was very glad we did the all day. We saw orcas, fin whales, otters, sea lions, porpoises, and a vast array of birds. The ship could get very close to the islands. The captain and crew were helpful and informative but not too chatty. We went into a cove for lunch. We went close to Northwestern glacier and the engines were turned off so we could hear the ice cracking.

We saw so many different animals and birds. The most thrilling was the Humpback Whales and the Orcas! Such a wonderful captain and crew who all worked so hard to show us as much as possible.

We took the 8.5 hour Northwestern Fjords cruise and LOVED it. The time flew by. We were joined on our day on the Viewfinder boat by about 30 people total. A very small group and fun!! We were thrilled. It started off a bit rainy and windy but, after an hour or so turned cloudy and dry--hurray. The sailing was smooth and no seasickness that we noticed from anyone. We had a great Captain and mate, Andrew, very informative and easy to talk with. We sat a a table with another couple and enjoyed them. We were fortunate to see Humpbacks bubble feeding, several pods of Orca, a Mountain Goat, Puffins and even a Kittlitz's Murrelet. So. much. wildlife. We also saw the more typical: Dall's Porpoises, Sea Otters, Harbor Seals, Stellar Sea Lions, Bald Eagles, and lots of beautiful glaciers showing all of their blue color in the cloudy weather! The lunch served was very good--along with complimentary tea, coffee, water and hot chocolate. A fantastic day on the water in Resurrection Bay, Gulf of Alaska and the Northwestern Fjord areas. Do it-it is time and money well spent!

Fantastic experience! Two humpback whales breached right near the boat! Choose this one if you are looking for close-up views of glaciers, otters, horned and tufted puffin, kittiwake, sea lions, harbor seals, porpoise, and immature bald eagles in a nest. The boat held 68 passengers on two decks so never felt crowded. Captain Chris went out of his way to find wildlife and was entertaining as well as educational. Scott made sure we saw the things we wanted most to see and was our favorite. Carrie was full of facts and fun too, and all were kind enough to make sure seasickness didn’t ruin anyone’s day. It’s an 8.5 hour cruise and is well worth the time and expense since we went further and saw more. Only one stretch of potentially choppy water in the Gulf of Alaska. Lunch was good, coffee and tea free all day plus margaritas for sale made with ice that just calved from a glacier. Unforgettable experience. Book it!

We took the 8.5 hour cruise. It was incredible. We saw dahl porpoises, humpback whales, orca whales, sea lions, puffins, otters and other birds. We went to several glaciers and saw them calving. Our boat captain did an excellent job getting us close to the animals for us to capture wonderful pictures and have a great experience. We would recommend and would go again ourselves if we ever make it back to Seward.

I've done all kinds of tours all over the world. This was the best I've ever experienced, on many levels! Amazing natural beauty. Safe & comfy boat. And the captain & deckhands were awesome -- so knowledgeable & friendly. They have a passion for this work and it shows. Fortunate to have good weather and lots of animal sightings & encounters -- WOW. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!...

You might be thinking to yourself "Do I reeeeeeally want to spend 8.5 hours on a boat"? The answer is yes. Yes you do. You absolutely do. It will be the fastest 8.5 hours of your life. Even if you didn't see a single animal, the natural beauty is astonishing and incredibly varied. And you will certainly see animals. On our tour, we saw sea otters, harbor seals, a humpback whale and her calf, two orca pods, a pod of Dall porpoises that chased our ship and jumped out of the water nearby, numerous sea birds and sea lions. The naturalist who accompanies the cruise was interesting, knowledgeable and very obviously just as enthusiastic to be there are as we were. He was even able to identify individual orcas by their dorsal fins. The boat captain gives you plenty of time to appreciate the animals as well as the Northwestern glacier, which was hauntingly beautiful. Be aware that the weather in Seward is very tempermental. The first half of our tour was shrouded in fog. Seeing the landscape (and the glacier) covered in mist was lovely, but it did make spotting the animals challenging. But by afternoon it was clear and sunny. This tour was an absolute blast. I would not hesitate to recommend or go again!
