Eric was an exceptional guide. He was very cognizant of our well being at all times. The hike was moderately difficult but the waterfalls at the end made it all worth it. Highly recommended!

Eric guided a fabulous hike through the rainforest to several beautiful blue and green waterfalls. It was fantastic to see and swim in the falls with no people around. Eric explained at lot of the nature, about the volcano, the blue water, blue butterflies, snakes, blue ants and singing birds. The tour included food at genuine Tica restaurant with local food😀 Do this tour!!!

What a great experience!!! This eco-style tour drove us through small towns and we ate a local restaurant that supports local farmers. The hiking experience was full of fun, adventure, and created life time memories. Being able to walk up and into the falls was worth every ounce of energy!!! A change of clothes for after the hike are needed!!!

What can I say, this was an amazing hiking experience near San Jose. Transportation was arranged, all meals were provided, couldn't be any easier. If you're looking for a real hiking experience versus a bus walking tour, doticotours is the perfect choice for you.

Eric (owner) and Natalia provided an excellent hiking trip that the locals typically take. The volcano and mountainous sights during the reasonable drive from San Jose to Bajos del Toro were unique to other tours we took...must take photos and an incredible day altogether. Highly recommend you hikers and waterfall lovers make this trip a "Must Do" on your trip to Costa Rica. The breakfast and lunch were also delicious and fresh at a local restaurant.

Went on this tour with Eric in October 2021 with a buddy of mine. The views, waterfalls, and water were incredible. The hike was very challenging and we were really tired after, but we sort of had a glow about us the whole time. Eric is very personable and easy to talk to. He provides great information about this gem of a place.

This was the best tour ever. The tour guide was very encouraging and considerate. The tour was an amazing experience of 4 gorgeous waterfalls. The terrain was challenging at times but the tour guide would stop and slow down as I needed. This tour is for real adventurists and the challenge is more than worth it. I also was able to book a solo tour on the company website.

Absolutely amazing hiking! We were promptly picked up from our hotel at 6 am. We had a nice Costa Rican breakfast on our way to the trailhead. We arrived at the trailhead after about 2 hours. The hiking was through muddy fields and crossing many streams. We went to the Roca Verde first and then to Catarata Germelas and Catarata Celestial. There were over 500 steps on the way to Catarata Germelas and Celestial. Also, the last section of the Celestial must be descended using a rope to get to the bottom of the waterfall. We had lunch at the Catarata Celestial before returning to the car. The hiking was about 6.3 miles with 1220 feet elevation gain. All 3 waterfalls were absolutely beautiful.

The day started off with a bit of rain but that didn't stop us from having an amazing time! Loved how part of the hike is literally going up a river to get to one of the waterfalls. We saw 4 waterfalls, each of a different color. Eric was a great guide and the overall experience was really positive, I would highly recommend his company and this hike rain or shine :)

If you are looking for a great hike off the beaten path this is it! A group of us did this full day hike after it was recommended to us and I saw pictures. It was even more beautiful in person. We saw 4 waterfalls and waded through water and climbed over rock formations using a rope. We were able to swim in the beautiful water below a waterfall. Eric, the guide, helped us with the terrain and took the time to take as many pictures and videos as we wanted. Eric packed us delicious lunches that we enjoyed in a barn while we waited for rain to pass. It was honestly magical and one of the best hikes I’ve ever been on. That being said my two other favorite hikes were done all in the same week with doticotours. Our same group did a night hike only 30 minutes outside of San Jose that overlooked the entire city. This was a harder hike uphill but so worth it. It rained on us and it was a challenge but it was fun and the night hike was something I had never done before. The city views were breathtaking. My favorite moment was when we took a break to look out at all of San Jose and drank hot tea and had a snack that Eric thoughtfully prepared for us. It was so peaceful. I was hot, cold, wet and muddy all on this hike but I’d do it again in a heartbeat. The last hike our same group did a couple of days later was at Arenal volcano. This hike was much shorter but hotter. It was pretty easy but the view at the end of the trail at the base of the volcano was gorgeous. We were alone at this site bc once again Eric chooses the best and least touristy spots. We sat and enjoyed the views over the valley and with the volcano behind us while enjoying our snacks again. After the hike we went to the lake where we started the hike to go paddle boarding and kayaking. This was so peaceful and calm. It rained once again but we didn’t care. We hid under the trees on the lake and waited for it to pass while soaking it all in. Afterwards we went to the hot springs where we had lunch and relaxed. This was the most fun part of the day. It rained again but we stayed in the hot springs which we mostly had to ourselves and ordered drinks. On the 3 hour ride back home Eric accommodated some annoying girls by jamming Taylor Swift while we danced in the back seat. I have the best memories from my month in Costa Rica from the hikes with doticotours. Not only were the destinations amazing but Eric has taken the time to make the trip enjoyable and perfect. All of the meals and snacks were delicious and well thought out. Not only was he easy going but he went out of his way for us. On the arenal hike my 70 year old mother joined us and when the terrain was too difficult for her or she struggled he held her hand and stayed with her the entire time. He also sent someone to pick up my wallet after I left it at a restaurant over 2 hours away so that I wouldn’t have to worry about it. Basically I can’t say enough good things about this tour and Eric. Book this now if you want a great adventure.

Eric was an excellent tour guide. I highly recommend taking this trip. Eric was able to take us to the most beautiful attractions that the locals “Ticos” visit. You will truly be able to live like a local for a day. 100% will return.

This trip was definitely a highlight of all my trips in Costa Rica. Eric is a friendly guy, who loves hiking and basically shows you some hidden gems. Bajos del Toro has beautiful waterfalls in different colors you can even swim in, located in a gorgeous valley. If you want (and the weather allows it) you can even take the adventure to another waterfall over steep, muddy jungle paths and through a river. Dieser Ausflug war definitiv ein Highlight aller meiner Ausflüge in Costa Rica. Eric ist freundlich und liebt das Wandern und führt einen zu den versteckten, weniger touristischen Schätzen. Bajos del Toro hat verschiedenfarbige Wasserfälle, in denen man sogar schwimmen kann und die in einem wunderschönen Tal gelegen sind. Wenn man möchte (und es das Wetter erlaubt), kann man sogar das Abenteuer auf sich nehmen, zu einem weiteren Wasserfall über steile, matschige Dschungelpfade und durch einen Fluss zu wandern.

Un lugar hermoso, mucha aventura, paisajes hermosos con cataratas de agua celeste. Llegando al lugar muy tempranito empezamos a ver montañas lindas, tuvimos un rico desayunos y luego nos dispusimos a caminar para visitar 4 cataratas realmente hermosas. Recomiendo mucho esta experiencia y a nuestro guía Eric muy atento.

Meu primeiro dia na Costa Rica foi com o Eric e após esta experiência, tive certeza que minhas férias seriam incríveis. Foi um tour privado, onde me senti confortável durante todo o dia. Eric foi atencioso, prestativo, gentil e tem um conhecimento incrível sobre a região de San José. Recomendo a todos que buscam atividades em meio à natureza e que fogem dos passeios turísticos padrões. Você verá a Costa Rica de um outro ângulo e irá se apaixonar pelo país. Journée exceptionnelle aux cascades de Bajos Del Toro. Parfait si vous avez une journée de libre sur San José pour visiter le pays comme si vous y étiez. Éric vous emmène à l'aventure et les paysages sont à couper le souffle. Il nous accueille très bien et la ballade est parfaite pour les personnes aimant la randonnée et la nature. Une aventure unique loin des gros flux de touristes !
