Omg this was honestly the best experience/ tour so far. We had already seen the Main attractions; Sugar loaf cable car, JC the Redeemer by Train, the Tijuca rainforest etc. The walking 3 hour tour with Jucara is a must do!! Seriously incredible experience of Favela life. We visited 3 areas of the Favela including the school, library, church and last but not least a favela home. Cesar and Jo are so friendly. My daughter (16) and I, Ioved learning about Jucara’s family and life growing up. Her pride and love of her heritage, her donating to the community. Unlike other non native tour guides. She talked of The Favela history, the mandatory government voting system and how people are fined if they don’t vote. We felt really safe, and locals are happy and friendly. The ‘no photo areas’, Jucara explains, how the drug gangs are able to continue in specific areas. This understanding with the police keeps the locals safe. She explains it is safe from theft etc as locals do not steal in the Favela, not in their community. Jucara speaks excellent English and I highly recommend asking for her specifically!! Other tourists have been dissatisfied with Jeep tours and not having the experience we had. This is great value for money. We were collected from Copacabana beach to Rocinha by an arranged Uber. Takes about 30 minutes. Jucara meets you and a return Uber is arranged. I offered to pay for our own Uber home. Jucara said - no it is included. How fabulous is that. This was the best day, this has given us special lifetime memories, to understand Rio life. OBRIGADA! Jucara ❤️❤️ I can’t upload my pics 🤷‍♀️ I will try when back in England

Great experience and I think it is a MUST when you visiting RIO DE JANEIRO. Our guide JUCARA was awesome and I felt very safe the whole tour. She grew up in rocinha so she knew what is all about. She did a really a good job.

You haven't really experienced Rio if you haven't taken this particular tour. I don't wanna mess up the spelling of her name but the tour guide and owner is amazing! It was a really good time, worth every penny. Be sure to have cash when you go so you can shop for all the nice things and groceries, I promise it's the best spot for it. I'm sad I wasn't able to get this painting because I forgot my cash. Anyway, dope experience and some of the best views. Love love loved it!

One of the best tours we did while in Rio! We got to experience real Favela life and meet Jo and Cesar who live there. They invited us into their home, played games with us and took pictures- it was fantastic!

We strongly recommend this tour which is an integral part of the Brazilian reality. Thank you very much to Juçara (our guide) for introducing us to the favelas of Rocinha, we really liked all the historical and others explanations which allowed us to understand the origins of the favelas and the issues that this generates from a socio-political point of view.

Juçara was an amazing host! She was extremely knowledgeable, answering all of the questions. From the time we booked the tour, she reached out to us on WhatsApp to coordinate the logistics ahead of time. She called an Uber for us at the pickup point and then also when the tour was over. We felt completely safe throughout the tour due to Juçara's presence and expertise, for example telling us where we can or cannot take photos. We were the only ones on the tour, and we definitely looked like tourists in the area. The tour also includes a visit to a real home in the favela, where Caesar and Jo were great hosts and even played some games with us. The Rocina favela is a very unique place that we wouldn't have the chance to experience if we didn't book this tour on TripAdvisor, so you should definitely check it out if you are in Rio.

We make a few things in 3 hours of ride, and she shows for me just a little bit of rocinha, three places.

Brilliant tour, we both really enjoyed it. Don’t hesitate to book. The best thing we have done in Rio. And definitely better to go with Juçara who is very informative and genuine, rather than some of the other tour companies who take you to more touristic places. We really enjoyed all the places we visited and the people we met.

This was a very well organised tour of Rocinha, I was collected by Uber at the time stated. Jucara, met us at the bottom of the hill. As a residence herself , she was friendly, and knowledgeable. We walked to the top for a great photo opportunity where Jucara provided us with insightful knowledge of the favela and culture. I felt safe in her company as she knew which areas to go and to avoid. We were taken to a local residents house who were welcoming and delightful. Showed us some tricks, provided drinks and nibbles and proceeded to take some groups photos. You were not pressured into buying anything. The tour ended at the market at the bottom. It would have been nice to have had a short time here on our own before being picked up. Otherwise, I highly recommend this tour.

My friend and I took this walking today and it was brilliant. The weather was not on our side but we continued with the showers and had a wonderful tour. Our guide, Jucara, was excellent with loads of local information and knowledge about Rocinha. We also visited a home and met Cesar and Jo who were a wonderful couple who clearly do great work with the local children. This is a great tour from a resident of Rocinha who respects and appreciates her home town. Highly recommended

Juçara was a very good guide. She is from the favela and she has a very good understanding of how it works there. She explained very well the history of the favelas and the dynamics around it. She took us to various spots, whom was a beautiful bar with an overview of the whole city!

I had a solo tour with Juçara around Rocinha one afternoon and really enjoyed it. She's very friendly and a great guide who took me to some of the best viewing spots which I never would have been able to visit myself, and I felt at ease the whole time I was there. Lots of interesting little places and great chances to take photos (always be sure to ask before taking any photos, for your own safety). Really enjoyed this and would highly recommend.
