Amazing trip, beautiful country and we got to see the best of Sri Lanka within the short time we had (10 days). I'd highly recommend Knows Lanka Tours as a tour provider. Great communication, itinerary was spot on and the accommodation was perfect for what we wanted. They took the stress out of planning and booking everything ourselves and having the driver at hand made travelling so comfortable and easy! The only recommendation I'd have is perhaps add another rest day if you want to incorporation some R&R if you have travelled a distance to get there, perhaps 3 rest days with no activities or tours.

Asanka was the most amazing driver and tour guide we could have asked for. He was so organised and made our 2 weeks travelling Sri Lanka so easy. Asanka’s knowledge of the wildlife and birds is phenomenal. We had such an amazing time with him on safari, pointing out animals and birds that we’d never spot! We learned so much about beautiful Sri Lanka on every journey with him. We always felt safe and confident with Asanka’s plans, he was always organised for any events. I would recommend Asanka to anyone thinking of traveling to Sri Lanka. He takes out the hassle of traveling. His car is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. He is a kind, funny man who will enlighten you to the best that Sri Lanka has to offer.

We had a fantastic and stress free trip with Asanka. We felt safe and very comfortable and we were able to adapt our plans on a daily basis to see different things. The van was very comfortable and we were able to get around easily in spite of the difficulties with fuel. We would recommend Asanka without reservation.

We organised our seven day tour with Asanka prior to leaving the UK. Email and WhatsApp correspondence was prompt and detailed. He picked us up from Unawatuna and from the beginning, it was clear Asanka was a great guy, he has a great sense of humour and fun to be with. His vehicle was clean, comfortable with plenty of room and his English is brilliant. He has immense knowledge of the animals, history, fauna and flora and an incredible passion for his country. Asanka is interested in his clients likes and dislikes and recommended some great places to eat and see, and gave us opportunities to experience other things en route, which were not on the initial itinerary. Asanka was everything and more from a tour guide. He went above and beyond our expectations. I would not hesitate in recommending Asanka and when we return to Sri Lanka, we will definantly be meeting up with him again for another tour.

My husband and I decided to book with Asanka @ Knows Lanka Tours & Travel for a recent holiday in Sri Lanka. Our family of two adults and two teenagers travelled around Sri Lanka with Asanka as our driver/guide for two weeks. We loved everything about the trip and we can't wait to return to explore more of this beautiful country - with Asanka again, of course! I chose Asanka as our guide based on the recommendations of others on TripAdvisor. Part of me felt that I might have been taking a bit of a risk booking a driver for two weeks based on the recommendations of people I had never even met. However, there was something about the way others described Asanka that made me feel confident in my choice. Then, when I first started communicating with Asanka, it was clear that I had made the right choice. Asanka was always prompt with his replies and had great ideas for our itinerary while always listening to what we wanted to do. We usually travel independently so travelling with the same driver for two weeks was a big change for us. As it turned out, it was the perfect way to see Sri Lanka. We wouldn't have seen anywhere near as much if we had travelled independently. Our two weeks with Asanka were amazing. From the time we met him, we knew that we had made the right decision to choose Asanka as our driver/guide. Asanka is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his country and he went out of his way to give us fantastic experiences - nature, history, food, culture and so much more. He recommended good places to eat, the best things to see and made sure we got great photos. Asanka was everything we could have wanted in a guide. He was patient, honest, reliable and fun (my teenagers loved him). He has a great sense of humour and is a very safe driver. His van is modern, comfortable and always clean. We felt safe at all times and had complete trust in Asanka. I have already recommended Asanka to others who are planning to visit Sri Lanka and I will continue to do so. Before we left, we talked to Asanka about other parts of the country we would like to visit and discussed an itinerary for our next trip. When we return (and we hope that will be soon), we will definitely be travelling with Asanka again.

A year ago, My boyfriend and I traveled to Sri Lanka with Asanka Deepal and I must admit that It was one of my best travel experience ever. My partner and I had a fantastic time with Asanka. As we visited in the summer he took us into the tea country as well as over to the beautiful beaches of the east coast, Sigiriya and Kandy were, of course, also on the itinerary. Asanka is a lovely, friendly guide and we'd definitely recommend him to anyone visiting Sri Lanka.

My friend and I contacted Asanka for our 12 day tour of Sri Lanka. He organised our itinerary and included 3 days rest by beach that we asked for. We couldn’t have asked for better. Asanka collected us from the airport and brought us to each destination, every hotel we were happy with and had great food, some were off the beaten track but with good reason as they had the most amazing views. Asanka brought us to each activity and allowed us to do them ourselves, however a tour guide could be arranged if we needed. He was always waiting for us after hikes etc. we never had to wait! We couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide, we were really lucky we chose Asanka. Thank you for our wonderful holiday !

After reading the great reviews and contacting some of his past customers through TripAdvisor and getting great feedback, I decided to book with Asanka at Knows Lanka Tours & Travels. Asanka was very quick to respond to my emails and once we had agreed on an itinerary I paid our $200 deposit to secure the trip. Asanka had suggested hotels for the trip, but he was more than happy for me to book my own accommodation which I did through Booking.Com and Expedia. Our trip was fantastic and we covered so much in two weeks! We stayed in 7 different places during out trip and we felt like we had a great experience in each location. Highlights of our trip were climbing Lions Rock, the safaris (we saw loads of Elephants in Habarana and were very lucky to see the elusive Leopard in Yala!), visiting Temple of the Tooth during the evening puja, the train journey from Nuwara Eliya to Ella and climbing Little Adams Peak. Asanka planned the trip very well, arranging guides in certain places (Lions Rock & Polonnaruwa) to enhance our visit, to guiding us himself in other locations such as Dambulla Cave Temple and Temple of the Tooth in Kandy. The Temple of the Tooth experience would have been quite overwhelming without Asanka explaining what was happening and guiding us through the very busy temple, but he turned it in to a very memorable and moving experience. Although we travelled around a lot, it was a good mixture of sightseeing and relaxing, and the transfers between locations were in Asanka’s very comfortable van. Asanka is also a very good driver and we always felt safe. We were also lucky enough to have Asanka’s friend and new driver Taranga with us for the trip. Taranga was ‘learning the ropes’ and joined our trip to get some experience. Both he and Asanka were great to have around, very personable and we got on well with both of them straight away. They were both particularly patient and caring with my parents who are in there mid 70’s helping them up and down steps and answering their many questions! Taranga even managed to get my mum up to the top of Lions Rock, and back down again –she couldn’t have done it without him. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country and because of Asanka we had one of our best holidays ever. I definitely recommend Asanka and Knows Lanka Tours & Travels.

Asanka arranged a wonderful holiday for my family. It was a very busy itinerary taking in all the sights we wanted to see while also providing us with some relaxation time. The hotels selected were excellent. Recommendations around best times to go to the busy sights were spot on so that we could maximise our time. Our driver, Razi, was brilliant. All the guides were great. A holiday of a lifetime in a beautiful country. I highly recommend Asanka.

I was told about how good Asanka's tour by a friend so we booked and I have to say he was the best tour guide you could ever ask for. I couldn't imagine driving the difficult roads of Sri Lanka everyday like Asanka does but he drives with a smile on his face and is so accomodating. I will always recommend him to anyone going to Sri Lanka.

We were with Asanka for twelve days during our tour of Sri Lanka and he was absolutely amazing during the entire trip. He is very personable, has a great sense of humour and kept us smiling during our travels. We really missed him when he dropped us at the airport! He seems to know everyone in Sri Lanka and when we asked if it was possible if we could fit in certain things to our tour at last minute, he arranged these with no issues! He recommended a wonderful cooking course which was far better and much cheaper than the ones highly rated on this site, he knew local sites to take us for curd tasting and waterfall visits and arranged excellent guides for safari and the big sites in Sri Lanka so we knew we were in good hands at all times. He was very helpful and advised us in advance to ignore local touts etc which was good to know. His vehicle is great, a spacious van with AC and bottled water was provided to us all the time which was great. We learnt so much about Sri Lanka through Asanka and he really made our trip very special.

Please book dear Askana for your ultimate Sri Lankan adventure. Having recently returned from his tour I cannot rate this lovely gentleman enough. He is professional, proud of his culture and incredibly knowledgeable. We experienced a variety of places during his tour. Everything we did was exceptional and a real highlight package. We visited beaches, tea plantations,national parks, temples, treks, mountains, waterfalls, the stunning train journey from Ella ( a must do! ) and had a truly authentic experience. We are independent travellers and don’t usually book a tour guide. On this occasion we do not regret using Asanka’s wonderful service. We appreciated his knowledge of the local culture, accommodation and cuisines. Sri Lankan food is good value, healthy, and really delicious. Askana spent time with us, but also respected our alone time too during our stay. He is completely guided by you and accommodates accordingly. His car is spacious, incredibly comfortable and clean. Asanka drives very calmly and with experience. This is something you will really appreciate after experiencing Sri Lankan roads :-) Driving around this beautiful country in air conditioned comfort is a real luxury and privilege. Went to Sri Lanka last year for Christmas and New year's. Got a recommendation from a friend of Asanka. He is the most genuine guide, went out of his way to make our holiday the best. Great knowledge and took pride of his Country. We were lucky to spot a Leopard on our safari trip and also saw lots of elephants along the way!!. It was such a highlight. Very safe driver and would highly recommend his company 😁

Having been recommended to us by friends, we made contact with Asanka in Sep 2015 about a potential trip in Nov of the same year. We were not to be disappointed! Asanka planned our guided trip (incl. all transfers & accommodation) following brief e-mail conversations about what we would like/expect. The only thing we had to organise was our flights. Asanka met us at the airport & we did not have to worry about anything else for the remainder of our trip! We took in the following destinations during our two week visit: Negombo Anuradhapura (Ancient City) Sigiriya (Rock Fortress & Elephant Safari) Pollonnaruwa (Ancient City) Kandy (Dambula Cave, Temple of the Tooth, City Tour) Nuwara-Eliya (Hortons Plains, Tea Plantations) Ella (Train ride from Nuwara-Eliya, Nine Arch Bridge ,Little Adam's Peak) Yala (Safari, Dondra Light House) Mirissa (Galle Dutch Fort, Beach & Surfing) We thoroughly enjoyed our trip & would highly recommend both the destination & Asanka. It is a beautiful country & the people are extremely friendly & welcoming. The food is exceptional & all of the accommodation chosen for us was ideal (Incl. our Treehouse in the Rainforest). Asanka is extremely knowledgeable & has fantastic communication skills. I would struggle to find any fault in the itinerary he laid on for us.

This was our third trip with Asanka - this time we toured the north of Sri Lanka. Once again we highly recommend him as a driver and guide. We worked out our itinerary with him but then went off the beaten track to explore further - he was receptive to any requests we made. There was alot of security everywhere after the Easter attacks and at no stage did we feel unsafe.

I was lucky enough to have found Asanka of Knows Lanka Tours through a fellow Trip Advisor traveller. I cannot express how grateful I was to find a tour guide who has deep knowledge of his country and understands when to give you space and when to engage with his clients. I only had a very rough idea of what I wanted to see in a week and since there are many attractions in Sri Lanka I knew I'd need to choose. I asked Asanka for his advice once I obtained his email address and he laid out a tour that was action packed but not rushed. He was always on time for pick ups and his advice on where to stay was invaluable. Asanka arrived in a spotlessly clean, air conditioned vehicle and showed us on a map where we would be going. Our days were well planned and the pace was just right for example seeing spectacular archeological ruins early in the morning to beat the crowds and heat and having time to rest and swim in the pool once back at the hotel. It's a balancing act and one Asanka does extremely well. I cannot recommend him highly enough for his humour, kindness, consideration and knowledge, excellent English along with careful and considerate driving. His thoughtfulness in obtaining train tickets for the Ella train ride was above and beyond considering I had forgotten to buy them! When I return to Sri Lanka as I surely will I will engage Asanka again to help plan seeing the wildlife and other parts of Sri Lanka I am yet to explore. It is a colourful, beautiful country with polite and friendly locals, delicious food and fresh fruit and vegetables. Unforgettable visit!!!

We travelled with Asanka while on honeymoon in Sri Lanka. We loved every moment of it. Sri Lanka is beautiful and I would love to return some day. I couldn't recommend a better tour guide than Asanka. He was most helpful with giving recommendations on where to go and what to see and was also more than happy to go with our own ideas if we didn't like his. He knows Sri Lanka really well and knows great places to stay. We always felt safe with his driving, his car was comfortable,he has excellent English and he is always on time (and patient with us when we are not!)I would highly recommend knows lanka to anybody looking for a tour (and I do think this is the best way to go in Sri Lanka). Hopefully we can travel with Asanka again some day.
