Great to have a guide to help us navigate buses to each site. Kono Sun was lovely but his English a bit limited and he walks very fast.

Today’s adventure had us travel 1 hour to Kamakura, which a coastal town in Kanagawa. We saw the Great Buddha Statue and climbed to the Hasedera Temple built in 1333. We then went to Hokokuji Temple and the bamboo forest. We ended the day at the most magical tea house. We had a wonderful day in Kamakura! It is a beautiful city with cute shops and streets filled with stunning cherry blossoms. Our guide Yoshi met us at the hotel and he was delightful. Very knowledgeable and so kind. He made sure we stopped to get my daughters goshuincho book signed at each stop. There is a very pretty music box store where you can make your own music box. Had I known I would have made time for this! Next time as we all agreed it was a stunning city. Thank you Yoshi for a wonderful day!

Our trip was perfect! Our guide Kono-san has been very professional, on time and speaking a good English. He took us to several points in Kamakura to explore the beauty of this town, not just the great Buddha, but many shrines and gardens as well, that we wouldn't have found if we had gone by ourselves. The guide picked us up from the hotel, helped us charging our Pasmo cards to take the train and showed us the way. It has been VERY helpful to have someone explaining what do do and where to go. Moreover, he also helped us finding a place where to eat gluten free, since one of our group members is coeliac. Thank you so much, Kono-san, we feel very lucky for having had you as a guide. This trip is ABSOLUTELY recommended!!!!

I visited Tokyo with my wife, sister and brother-in-law. Our guide Yoshio met us at our hotel, and after a short briefing, off we went! It was great to navigate Tokyo Central Station, travel on the train and use local buses in Kamakura, with no worries of losing our way. Visiting Kamakura with Yoshio was like strolling through an old friend’s home town. He was very knowledgeable, with a down to earth delivery of the facts, intermingled with lots of personal stories. We enjoyed the sights and history very much, but my wife and I agreed that meeting Kappa was the best part of the tour. We had an excellent day!

We had a wonderful tour in Kamakura. Our tour guide, Hideaki Murayama, met us at our hotel. He was extremely kind, professional, and knowledgeable. We had a fantastic tour of the big Buddha, Hase-Dera temple, Houkoku-Ji Temple, and Hachimangu Shrine. We went to lunch at a small local restaurant in Kamakura and got to try okonomiyaki. Lunch was delicious and so different than anything else we have had so far in Toyko. We highly recommend this tour and our fantastic tour guide.

Navigating to Kamakura and then viewing many temples, shrines, and sites was managed so expertly by our guide, Yumiko-san. It was really a special and extraordinary day due to her efforts to open up the city and the culture for us.

This full day trip to the beautiful seaside town of Kamakura was well-worth the 1.5 hour train ride. Our guide Hidaeki San was very gentle and knowledgeable about the local culture and history. For me the highlight was the temple devoted to Kannon, nestled on a hillside, and the buddhist vegetarian lunch taken in its quiet restaurant, with a stunning, sweeping view across the town, taking in the surrounding mountains and coastline.

The first time I laid eyes on the Giant Buddha in Kamakura was the most amazing and breathtaking sight. We visited several temples and one in a bamboo forest. It was great having a guide who helped us navigate the train system from our hotel and back. Would highly recommend this trip if you have extra time while in Tokyo.

My guide Yumi was amazing. We navigated the train system no problem and had an amazing day visiting not only Kamakura but several additional shrines, including one in the bamboo forest. I highly recommend this day trip for anyone looking to get out of Tokyo for a day and see some beautiful shrines and temples.

Seeing the great Buddha bronze statue was amazing. It was a terribly busy time in Kamakura due to the new year holiday, but our guide did everything possible to get us to see all the sites he could.

Booking a private tour is the way to go to see the highlights of the Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. Since we were not familiar with the trains and buses and did not speak Japanese, it would have been a challenge to do this on our own. I highly recommend a private guide. Yoshi was very knowledgeable about the area, the history of the shrines and temples, and good places to eat. He kept us moving from one place to another. One piece of advice is to contact the tour guide for all your questions and requests. Be realistic as there are many shrines and temples in Kamakura, and really getting to all of them in 1 day is not possible. 4 is the total we had to give us enough time to also do some souvenir shopping. I asked as many questions to be prepared for transportation costs and how things are paid in Kamakura. It is a cash only tour, except for the trains which can be paid by credit card. The good thing is Kamakura is a short ride, south of Tokyo. It gives you a taste of what the history was going back before Edo period. Remarkable temples and shrines. You'll love it as it is a beautiful part of Japanese history.

During our trip to Japan, we elected to visit Kamakura with Harry Shoji of the Fufilling Tour Company. We could not have been more pleased with the result. Even though our visit was during the very busy time of "Golden Week", Harry was able to very effectively negotiate the crowds in all locations and give us the maximum time to visit the shrines and temples of this incredible area. Of course, the main attraction is The Great Buddha of Kamakura statue, but there are many other sites, such as the Hasedera Temple that are also deserving of a visit. Be prepared to walk as the sites are separated and even with local transportation, you will be covering some ground. If you are not reasonably fit, your opportunities will be limited, especially if you wish to cover the area in one day. For this reason, having a knowledgeable guide is most valuable and efficient. We chose a day trip from Tokyo and this proved sufficient from our perspective, although I can easily see that others could wish for more time and take in the area with a more leisurely pace. Especially appreciated for this visit, with all the crowds, was that Harry picked us up at our hotel and facilitated travel to Kamakura. Finally, you learn so much more when you have a knowledgeable guide that can provide the history and a perspective. Harry was more than up to the task.
