What an amazing place. You need to devote at least a half day or more to see the entire village and do justice to your visit. Situated on 16acres, there is everything imaginable of historic significance to see here. Lots of buildings, many dedicated to a specific relic. For example the record players room, it has music playing. Same for the piano teachers room, They have exhibits that work and you will find times where to be when they start them up. For instance the stationary engines, fire engines, old cars etc. From memory, the museum was started by one man who collected from childhood and then joined by another and then lots of relics were donated and hence 16acres of it. You cross the river by two ways, bridge or causeway to more exhibits and one of the largest generators I've ever seen. They have an area where damper and billy tea is made and served but unfortunately not at the time we were there. There is a nice cafe on site to enjoy a cold drink or lunch. There is also a 1/2 hour video on the Tin Mining that was responsible for Herberton becoming a township. Very interesting. One of the best Historical Villages we've been too. Well worth the drive from Cairns.

Amazing open air museum giving an insight into pioneer life iin Australia. We spent all day looking at the exhibits. The ticket is valid for multiple days so its possible to do a bit one day and return the next.

This was one of best kept Historical places I have seen. Extremely well maintained and presented. You need a day to explore the whole area, with rest breaks in between. The staff were great and provided all the information you could ask for. Dog friendly, we were able to take our kelpie with us and she got two treats.. This is a must see, you will not be disappointed.

The best and most well kept historic village Ive seen anywhere. I cant imagine how much work gies into the upkeep. Blacksmith was entertaining and educational, damper and billy tea was excellent and the range and quality of displays was amazing. An excellent day out for singles, couples or a family. Travelling around Australia fir work means I see a lot of thus sort of attraction and this is the bedtime anywhere by a long way.

Plenty of artefacts dating back to the early pioneering days to the 1970s. Interesting to envisage how the pioneers survived and thrived and to see what was modern in our time (we are 80) is now regarded as being an antique! Grandchildren would be unable to comprehend how we managed without Apple

Simply amazing! So well done to all involved. Staff were friendly and helpful. Displays were well maintained and the grounds are well kept. Not normally a museum person but could spend days here easily. The film is a must see. Hats off to Herberton! Loved it đź’ť

This place is absolutely incredible! If you like artefacts, museums or history this one blows most out of the water! We had to get the return pass and come back the next day it was that incredible! (All are 3 consecutive day tickets) I have never seen such a well thought out, immersive and extensive compilation of artefacts in Australia, and so much of it is running too which is mind blowing, The cars and tractors have demonstrations every day, the blacksmith is incredible and the master woodworker Lyle is exceptionally talented and kind. This is a must see Australian attraction!!! A highlight of our trip so far!

So many recreated cottages and shops to visit! Quite well curated in part, although there's a tendency to accept all donations and 'put them somewhere'! We thinkl it might be better to cull a little, and provide more signage in shops. We went bacvk a second day, as our feet needed a rest to get around it all! Avoid the cafe: overpriced and stale food.

This would have to be one of the best historic villages in Australia, and well worth another visit. A superb range of historic buildings/businesses to captivate any audience. Maybe too much to see in one go. Included in the village is an old pub where one can get a bite to eat and a refreshing beverage. A must do.

This village is full of items from times past. My husband is very keen on old tractors and machinery and there were lots of those to see and some running as well. Lots of old China and household items for those not keen on machinery. Only downside lunch was a bit on the pricey side.

Our hire car rep in Cairns told us we had to go to Herberton. Why and where? We found the place easily and thought to call in for a short time.. Absolutely captivating and unfortunately we had to leave after 3 hours. While chatting to the guy who cares for the 1922 Citroen he gave me a great run down of the history of the establishment. This really is an amazing and important collection of Australian history. Congratulations to the owners and staff.

This attraction was great. The village is wonderfully laid out and in great shape. The various parts of a old town are preserved well. It feels like you are stepping back in time. One particular highlight was the collection of historic John Deere tractors. The gentleman running the display was friendly and even showed me some finer points about two of the tractors. He was very knowledgeable. To top it off he started a few of the tractors (as part of the many live displays that day); amazing that they have tractors able to run that are a century old. On this particular day we had need of a wheel chair. Thankfully, we were able to see most of the park with it! The staff at the entry gate were very helpful. All in all, a wonderful day spent at the site and I would highly recommend it to all.

A really relaxed afternoon casually learning about the history of Herberton. The place is easy to walk around and navigate. There are lots of building in a village setting. The short film on impressive widescreen cinema is informative. They could add a few cushions to the viewing seats because I found that pretty hard on my back. All in all, it’s a good afternoon and shows off Herberton quite well.

Well worth the visit ended up going for 2 days please allow 1 full day. Brilliantly done so much to see. Great staff. Entry ticket allows for up to 3 days, mining museum Herberton and if lucky enough steam train to Herberton. Lots of space, plenty demonstrations. Something of interest for all age groups. Beautifully kept - clean and spacious lots of car parking. Only disappointment and this is me nick picking is the damper wasn't served hot. I was hoping for damper hot like the Girl Guides used to do entwined for cooking on a stick then golden syrup in the middle yum yum. We were even offered umbrellas to use on our rainy day for free no security deposit. The buildings and artifacts are a great insight into how our forebears worked and lived. Well done.

You could spend all day looking at the tens of thousands of artefacts from Herberton's past as a pioneer mining town. Demonstrations of old machinery add authenticity to the experience. Warning: there are a handful of exhibits that are now regarded as racist or in poor taste. This merely reflects less educated times. Your ticket gets you entry for 3 consecutive days.

This gives significant insights into living in the region when it was specialising in tin mining. A lot of the buildings have been brought from elsewhere, but collectively give the true feeling of "being there" in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Not to be rushed. One of the other joys was a blacksmith in operation and lecturing on his processes. As was Cobb and Co stage coach (that used to operate between Cooma and Queanbeyan, admittedly)

Probably one of THE BEST displays of pioneering / mining/ printing / timber memorabilia - I could go on all day. It's on 16 acres so you need a full day or get an extension pass for three days. Worth every cent. Well done!!!
