What an amazing experience! Thiago was an absolutely fantastic guide. He was so knowledgeable and fun. His personal experience and his understanding of the history of Portuguese wine and food was unparalleled. Each stop was meaningful and well thought out. It was relaxing not to have to drive and to be entertained and educated along the way. We especially enjoyed the delicious authentic family style lunch. We loved everything about the tour and would highly recommend!

My wife and I had an absolute blast on our tour of Porto with Tania! Tania made us feel extremely welcome and comfortable the entire time. She took the time to show us around and gave amazing restaurant recommendations. She even dropped us off at a separate location we wanted to see in the city. We highly recommend going to Porto and booking a tour specifically with Tania! She is one of the best in the business!

We had an incredible day in the Douro Valley with Nuno as our guide. We brought our 3 year old and 11 month old and Nuno was so kind and helpful. He shared many pieces of valuable information and really took the time to help us get to experience the area. Each stop was lovely. After taking many full day tours across the world, I would highly recommend this tour and Nuno.

Tiago was an excellent guide. He was friendly, fun and was very knowledgeable about the Duoro Valley. He also gave us great recommendations for things to do and places to eat in Porto. Lunch was a fantastic experience in a quaint little village and we also loved the wine tasting experience. Fantastic trip that I highly recommend!

Even though it was raining non-stop for most of the day, we had a great time on this tour, in large part due to our great guide Tiago. He answered every one of our many questions, answered more we didn't know we had, and was fun and pleasant the whole time. He also did a great job taking care of one of the members of our party when they slipped and got a minor cut - definitely not part of the job description, but much appreciated. The stops were great, especially lunch

The entire day was outstanding despite the dreary weather. Paulo our guide was great - friendly, funny, informative and kind. Highlight of the tour was definitely lunch! We were treated like royalty indeed. Well worth the time and money.

From start to finish this well structured tour was an excellent introduction to the beautiful Douro valley. Our guide/driver, Joao, was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly. There wasn’t a part of the day that failed to impress - the stunning scenery, the wine tasting “breakfast” at the Quinta Seara d’Ordens vineyard, the boat trip along the Douro and the delicious traditional Portuguese lunch (with more wine!) in a quiet hillside village. Joao went out of his way to ensure that we got the most out of our day, adding in a visit to the picturesque town of Amarante on the way back to Porto. I would highly recommend this tour!

We had a wonderful day with Andre. He worked so hard to make sure every moment of our day was enjoyable. He was at our hotel promptly making sure our seating and environment were comfortable. While driving to the Douro valley, Andre educated us about the region and why it’s a spectacular wine producer. We stopped for wine/port tastings as well as lunch at a lovely authentic restaurant run by a remarkable woman and her family/friends. Andre checked in frequently to assess how we enjoyed every activity we did. He secured outdoor seating for us on the river cruise (which was very crowded when we arrived), we greatly appreciated his efforts. When traveling, the connections and memories we make are invaluable to my husband and myself. We are grateful for our day in the Douro valley with Andre. Thank you!

Alex was an amazing guide for Douro Valley Tour. He provided pertinent history of the region coupled with family vignettes (since his grandfather and father grew up in the region). Alex also ensured we had many wonderful photo ops of the gorgeous Douro Valley. I give Alex 5 stars as a tour guide!!

Alex was an amazing guide which made the whole day both fun and packed with information. It was great seeing the beautiful Douro valley and Alex provided us with great tips for things to do in Porto also.

We were 8 friends in a van driven by Andreia, our guide.Vahe picked is up at our hotel in Porto. She was terrific!!! She first took is to a large winery that is completely organic and Portugese called Portal. There we tasted several ports and saw their state of the art facility including living roof. Then we went to lunch in a medieval village and had authentic cured pork butt with fish and vegetarian options. The wine was poured in carafes and we enjoyed appetizers from chicken filo to spinach mini pies. There was the end of a religious festival going on. It was very lively and fun to watch. Then we went to a 1 hour boat ride on the Douro. Next we went to our last stop, a winery/port maker, where we had Port.I Tonico cocktails. Next our drive back. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and kept us on our busy schedule. We spent 101/2 hours from 8:30-6pm on the tour.

Our tour with Nuno was INCREDIBLE!!! Request him if you can. He is passionate about his country but also about you learning about it and enjoying it as a local. We were a private tour (US married couple in 50s) and eight hours in a car with a guide could have been, well, tedious for them and us. But there wasn’t a minute that we thought Nuno was just “dialing it in”. The tour starts straight away with Nuno giving some Porto history as you drive out of the city. And, it really never stops! He tells you interesting facts all along the drive. The first stop was at a winery, but not one of the large mass producers. It is an intimate family owned vineyard with exceptional wines and port. It feels like you snuck into the family dining table in an elegant but casual way. Everyone was friendly, funny and knowledgeable. Next up was the journey through the valley on our way to the Douro River boat tour. There are no words that can describe how beautiful this is. The vastness of the natural scenery mixed with the historical villages is like nothing you’ll see anywhere else. And Nuno narrates as you go so you understand what you are looking at and it’s importance. The river boat ride is more along the commercial side, but is not bad. Plenty of seating, a bar and fairly brief (20 mins ea way up and back). On either side you are seeing the range of vineyards-huge to small and it is just gorgeous (even on a rainy day like ours). The river itself is tranquil and the ride is a great time to just relax and soak in the experience of thousands before you responsible for moving the grapes and wine down the river. Nuno was right there waiting for us as we got off the boat-super easy. Next up was a short (but spectacular) drive up to lunch. THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT!! Every person visiting a country wants to feel like they are having an authentic experience. Lunch is in a tiny village, in a small “restaurant” which is a woman’s home that she has converted. You dine upstairs in a room set aside for your tour and the meal is fish or meat with sides. On our tour we started with olives in honey (try it!), oranges, olive oil and bread. The star was homemade “strudel”. The meal was Hake fish, Roasted Pork in port wine sauce, potatoes, rice, salad, carrot cake and local wines. The meal was voted our favorite from a five day trip through Spain/Portugal that included a Michelin starred restaurant. It is that good. The final stop after a brief drive down into the valley was at a small village square where we soaked up some Sun, had a traditional cocktail of white wine, tonic and lemon. Hung out with the locals (patrons and dogs) and were serenaded by the next door church’s bells. Every single part of this tour was jaw dropping gorgeous and historically fascinating. There is nothing we would change or suggest. We are picky-spoiled on good food and great travels and we can still say that. If you are hesitant for any reason-don’t. We almost cancelled thinking it wouldn’t be good on a rainy day and in hindsight that would have been the regret of a lifetime.
