The driver and guide was excellent - he was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The review is mainly related to the price of €160 per person, which was very high compared to other comparable tours. As other reviews have noted, you spend most of the day in a van, which was a bit cramped, to then spend an hour at one. winery, one hour on a Douro boat tour (that costs €12.50 per person at the gate), followed by a very nice lunch at the family home of the tour company owner. Overall it was a nice day but the price was very high for what the tour covered (even taking into account wine at lunch and port and snacks on the boat).

We booked this on recommendation of a tour kiosk and did. It disappoint We were collected from our hotel in a luxury SUV with Wi-Fi and bottle md water. The guide was Monmo and he lived in the Douro valley and is from a wine background. The tastings of wine and port were wonderful with no pressure to buy with lots of delicious snacks of almonds and bread with olive oil. The boat ride was pleasant and lunch was fabulous and traditional. Freshly cooked and organic. A truly memorable day.

We saw lots of tours for less money listed on Trip Advisor but we are very happy our hotel suggested this one. As our concierge mentioned, the river boats put you on the river the whole day, they get boring, and you get no personal attention. This company put us in a van with two other couples and we had a wonderful day marveling the terraced wineries, enjoying cliff side views of the river, and a short-ish river cruise of an hour or so. The highlights were the scenery and actually getting IN to the winery areas, the visit to a 150 year old winery, and a large lunch cooked at a beautiful private farm. The lunch was spectacular as was the building itself. Very glad we made this decision.

It was a last minute decision but highlight of our trip in Porto. Our driver Nuno was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. The winery we visited, Quinta Seara D’Ordens, was fantastic; produced wine and olive oil. Boat cruise on Duoro River was relaxing. Nuno even packed snacks and port wine for us to enjoy. Late lunch at their farm was a memorable experience, with great home cooked food and cozy atmosphere. We highly recommend Duoro First Tours for anyone who wants to do a day trip to explore Duoro region.

This was an amazing day spent with Nuno. He arrived early to pick us up from our hotel lobby and the Mercedes van was luxurious and clean. We learned so much at the winery and his driving was safe and comfortable. The wine tasting was paired with olive oil tasting and delicious snacks. The one hour river cruise was gorgeous on a picture perfect day and also we loved the special treatment we received as guests of Duoro Fist. Afterwards an authentic delicious luncheon privately prepared for us in a stunning villa. We could not have asked for a more perfect experience in the beautiful Duoro Valley.

This was an absolute must! It is wonderful semi private opportunity to see the countryside the beautiful Douro valley river and learn a lot about the wines and port of the region. The river ride was absolutely gorgeous and the lunch at the farm was the best food of our trip. I can’t say enough about our guide Pedro who was so knowledgeable and pleasant. I would suggest him as a top pick for your trip. He really made our time special. The drive was full of information and insight from Pedro. A must do when in Porto.

Full day tour. Picked us up from near Régua in mint-condition vans. Our drivers Nani and João were super safety conscious and drove with extra care to avoid car-sickness, which is tricky in these windind roads! They knew all the historic spots and Douro lore. We loved the family-owned Seara D'Ordens vineyard with tour and Porto wine tasting. Refreshments and snacks were provided throughout. Lunch is a terrific Posta Mirandesa with oven-baked potatoes, a bit late even for Portuguese standards but so good you'll forgive the wait.

Super day being looked after by Pedro who was very knowledgeable and entertaining about local facts and history . First stop was a panoramic view from a mountain top of the Douro region and river followed by a visit to a vineyard at 11am . Delicious port and wine tasting plus olive oil and bread with a tour of the vat storage warehouse and explanation of the wine and port making process . Next stop was Pincao village at 1pm where we boarded a boat for an hours cruise along the Douro . An extra special treat was a glass of port and a delicious sweet pastry for Pedros Premium guests. Finally we were taken to a traditional Portuguese homestead and sat down for a plentiful authentic 3 course meal with limitless wine . Such a memorable day - would highly recommend paying for this premium tour experience Guests

A mixed experience honestly. Started well enough, and headed from Vila Nova de Gaia to a wine tasting in Quinta Seara D’Ordens which was very nice. It’s quite a long drive but with lovely views of Douro valley. However, after the wine tasting which finished around 12.00/12.30 we did not go to lunch (which was needed after the tasting!), we drove further and did a boat tour. Lovely views but quite crowded. An hour later we arrived at a private residence for lunch (around 15.00!) and inside we felt like we were intruding in a family home and it should’ve been explained better why. We learned after by asking that the weather being windy, they preferred to have us eat inside. Lunch was mediocre at best. Soup was luke warm. Overall, for 160€ per person I was expecting much better.

We were reluctant to take a full day to do this tour initially, however, we have NO Regrets~ we feel it was time and money well spent! We were picked up at our hotel at 0900 and joined 2 other couples in a very clean and comfortable new luxury van. Our guide Josee (not the owner Josee but one of his employees that share the same name) shared many facts and history of Portugal, it’s people, geography, food and wines. Josee took us to a beautiful lookout point; a family owned winery where we tasted a few of their wines and olive oil, learned about wine making process, and toured one of their cellars. From there, we drove to Pinhoe where we boarded a traditional river boat for an hour cruise along the river. On our riverboat, we were offered a glass of port wine and homemade pastry. After our river cruise, we were taken for a drive to the private home of the tour owners and fed a beautiful home cooked meal of bbq steak, salad, breads, cheese, soup…plentiful meal with wine. The hosts were so welcoming, their dining room/house impeccably clean and decorated. After Our “lunch” (more of a feast!) we drove back to Port and arrived at our hotel about 6pm. It was a full and beautiful day! Thanks Josee and Douro First for welcoming us and sharing your beautiful Country with its traditions from yesterday and today❤️ Josee was so welcoming and knowledgeable- he really made our day feel more special- special thanks to You Josee M. We will most definitely recommend this tour company/group to anyone traveling the area! 5 stars all around.

Had an incredible tour led by Jose Maia on 5/5. Pickup went smoothly, we stopped at two other hotels for additional guests, and we were on our way to the incredible Douro Valley. Jose is a wealth of knowledge regarding northern Portugal and its cities, industry and history. We greatly appreciated that the tour stops (scenic overlook, winery with tasting, lunch) were off the beaten path and not mobbed with other massive tour groups. The boat ride along the Douro was a little more busier with larger crowds, but still enjoyable and a little pastry and port makes everything better. Looking forward to when the company launches their own boat - we'll be back! Our lunch on the route back to Porto was delicious and filling - they graciously accommodated some dietary restrictions in our group and everything had rave reviews. Still dreaming about the vegetable soup! The tour was scheduled appropriately and we didn't feel rushed at all. Jose was a great guide - made the tour all the more special and also had some great recommendations for the rest of our time in Porto. Highly recommend Douro First and Jose!

We had an amazing day exploring the Douro Valley, the sites, wine and food were excellent. We would highly recommend this tour and tour company. Our tour guide and driver was David, who was so welcoming, knowledgeable on the wines/area, fun and went above and beyond to make the day great for us. The morning started an on-time pick up from our hotel, David stopped to get coffees for my husband and I at our request. We signed up for the group tour but due to last minute cancellations it was just us. We headed out Douro Valley and David explained the sites along the way. And explained what to look out for when tasting the wines. We arrived at the winery and were greeted by the friendliest family dogs! It was a gorgeous family run winery and our guide was the daughter of the wine maker. She was excellent we tried port for the first time and sampled their olive oil - we loved everything we tried including homemade jam which we bought in their wine shop. Next stop was the boat tour, which was very peaceful and relaxing. We had some rainy and cold weather which was fine because the boat had an indoor section. Our last stop was lunch. This was our favourite part of the tour, we went to a local spot that is commonly visited by Portuguese families especially on Sundays. It was such authentic experience and the food was incredible - particularly the potatoes (iykyk). Overall the tour was a highlight of the trip. We honestly stumbled upon booking it and couldn’t have been luckier. Not sure if you can request to have David for your tour, but if it’s possible you absolutely should - he made the trip. And really cared about our experience even helped us organize activities and restaurants when we got to Lisbon.

You buy a premium tour at €145 pr person that states you will be picked by car at 0900 a.m. and drive for 1,5 hours before visiting a panoramic viewpoint, tasting of olive an wine and lunch with wine tasting. There after it states you will be part of a boat ride that starts 0400 p.m. and that the tour ends at 0700 p.m. What it doesn’t say is that the boat ride is only one hour, the lunch is in an ordinary “truck stop” and that you spend a total of 5,5 hours in the car. So please be aware that this is not what it seems and not value for money!

Highly recommended. A small group of 7 in a modern minivan. We were picked up at our hotel on time, picked up another small group then we were on our way. The tour included a visit to a small Douro winery for a tour and tasting with the owner, visit to a spectacular viewpoint, a menu del dia lunch in a village restaurant where the locals eat, travel beside the river to Pinhao for a little personal time, then a boat ride with port wine on the river before heading back to Porto. All in about 10 hours. Jose our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating, keeping the tour moving without appearing pushy. The winery was a good choice as was the restaurant, where we drank their own wine and spirits. The boat ride was a little kitschy, but we were in a traditional river boat. Cost a little more than we expected, but we were a small group, which meant we wasted no time boarding, corralling and offloading.

We had a brilliant day in July which started when Sonia picked us up from our hotel and took us, along with one other couple, on a comfortable drive to the family run Quinta Seara d’Ordens. The local knowledge shared by Sonia during the drive was complemented by Jose at the Quinta as we tasted olive oil, wine and port all produced on site. We were then taken to a smaller Quinta for wonderful home cooked lunch, much of which was prepared from produce harvested there, the tomatoes were delicious. There followed a boat trip on the Douro with more port and some delightful pastries supplied by Sonia before the drive back into Porto. We had a great day with our guide and the other couple on the trip and would definitely recommend this trip to anyone wanting to see more of the region while I. Porto.

This tour came highly recommended by a local, and it was 10/10. Slightly pricier than the others we looked at, but very high quality and worth it! Nuno took excellent care of us, picked us up right on time in a comfortable small Mercedes van with waters, and drove us out to the valley providing excellent local knowledge. Our group size was only 7 + Nuno so it was intimate and nice. Nuno patiently shared his knowledge of the Valley while driving us safely and keeping everyone comfortable. Excellent service. We visited two family run vineyards starting with an excellent tour, scenery, views, and tasting of 5 wines an olive oil, and a jam. The wine and hospitality was top notch, and prices to purchase bottles SO affordable. In the second vineyard we were hosted by a lovely family who cooked a traditional meal for us and shared their beautiful wine and breathtaking views. Finally we drove to Pinhao (stunning!) for an hour tour on their traditional boat up the Rio Douro with incredible views. 10/10 recommend to anyone who will listen to me! Definitely do it. We saw a lot of other tourists today, but we were the happiest.

Amazing trip to Douro Valley. The group I was with were lovely, very chatty and friendly. I was picked up from my hotel at 9am by the lovely David who was our driver and guide for the trip. The drive to the valley was pleasant and comfortable. I was hoping to go into the actual vineyard fields but nonetheless still very much enjoyed the wine/port tasting. The lunch was just okay for me, not much flavour with the main meal but the dessert - chocolate cake was nice. During lunch we had some more wine and port which was unexpected for me. The final step of the day was a boat tour with more port - lovely touch to a lovely day. Thank you David, you were a great host and made the day that extra more special.

We had a great trip to Duoro Valley with our small but very nice group (4) . We were picked up from our hotel in Porto by our excellent driver and guide, Sonya. She was amazing! We visited a wonderful vineyard including a lovely wine tasting. The fabulous lunch was at a local farmhouse/winery. Both visits was incredible. Finally a boat trip on the Duoro with a glass of port wine and lovely pastery. Many thanks to Duoro first tours and Sonya .

A very well organised day out from Porto to the Douro valley, prompt pick up from our hotel in a smart minibus (nice and cool on a hot day), a very knowledgeable and helpful tour guide in Nuno and a great visit to a family vineyard in the hills. The spot they chose for lunch was nice and busy and the local food and wine was very enjoyable The boat trip on the river was a good finish to the trip Highly recommended if you're thinking of a day trip to the valley
