This is a great trip if you like nature and hiking. You Will need a pair of good hicking shoes. That's all. The Materuni waterfall is the prize ín the end. The Hot Spring at the end is like enterimg Paradise.

We had an unexpectedly great time today at Materuni village, visiting the waterfall and having a coffee making experience with the local tribe. We weren't sure what to do with our extra day in Arusha after the safari, but we have absolutely no regrets choosing this experience. The trek to the waterfall is beautiful, not difficult, just challenging enough to make the waterfall even more interesting. Our lovely guide, Twaha, showed us a lot of plants we weren't familiar with, and even explained to us how the tribe use some of them - in fascinating ways, I might add. The walk was lovely and reaching the waterfall was even more so - what a beauty. We recharged our batteries with some splashes, Twaha took some great pictures and videos of us - he's super talented!, and we headed back to make some coffee! What an experience... they have their unique way of storytelling of how they grow it and make their own coffee there, using their methods, while singing and dancing and involving you in the process. I'm not going to divulge more, as you need to go live it, it'stotally worth it even if you've had other coffee making experiences! The result was a delicious and smooth cup of coffee, after which you head to lunch made by the women of the chagga tribe. We had a wonderful experience, and the people were lovely and really keen on giving you the best they had. We even got a glimpse of the top of Kilimanjaro along the way! We're glad we choose Suricata once again for another great Tanzanian experience!

For those looking for an immersive experience in the local culture while still enjoying the natural beauty of Tanzania, this is the perfect day trip. After a 2h drive from Arusha, we reached Materuni village high up in the mountains with vistas to mount Kilimandjaro. We hiked for 45 min to the stunning Materuni waterfall. Once back in the village we were treated by the locals to a real show about coffee making, followed by a delicious lunch. Our guide Twaha was very knowledgeable, friendly and an excellent photographer (he took some amazing photos of us at the main landmarks). Highly recommend trip! (NB: We skipped the hot springs since we didn't bring swim suits)

Nice trip. A must do in Moshi. 75m tall waterfalls coming directly from Kilimanjaro Glacier. Coffee tour with local villagers was cool. We bought products to support their community. And delicious traditional lunch. Good time friends... Thanks Surricata safaris and our cool guide Mr. T !

Twalbu, from Suricata, gave us an authentic, unforgettable day in Aruska. He took us to a village, where we saw the ritual of preparing real coffee and ate many traditional dishes at the locals, including a banana soup. I also drank beer and a banana strength. 🥰

We landed at Kilimanjaro airport in the morning and was quickly picked up to start our tour. We were able to rest in the car before our short hike to the waterfall. Great scenery and an overall amazing day trip with our guide and driver Calvin! Would highly recommend this company.

I went on a coffee tour with Materuni Falls. We started from Arusha and enhoyed the tour and after to get off at Mosi. Clean car, fripendly guide, and detailed schedule guidance were all good. In particular, the guide Mr.T( twalip ) was very kind and bright, making us happy. He took pictures and videos, and he carefully alerted and helped us not to slip on the way to Materuni Falls. He gave me a stick and it was very helpful. I had a great time with a kind guide.

I want to leave a review about my harassment by a Suricata Safari guide as a solo female traveler and Suricata Safari’s response to it. Note that this is separate from the actual content of the experience (in which I could not give higher ratings to Tanzania’s national parks). I specifically chose a group safari with a large, reputable company because I was traveling alone. On arrival at the airport, you are met by a driver and depending on the timing you might be offered a day trip option. I chose to go on this trip and as the day trip progressed I experienced unwanted comments and physical harassment. I was given neck massages, my head forced on to the guides lap, my eyes covered to “help me fall asleep” and my hand held against my will. This clearly inappropriate and unprofessional behavior was made worse as I was completely alone in a moving vehicle with this guide, I felt like I had no autonomy and was fearful for my safety. After this experience, I was not sure if I wanted to continue the safari with this same tour company and considered leaving the country despite having already paid. After meeting the fellow travelers for my four day safari, I decided to go ahead with it cautiously. While on the safari, I sent an email detailing my experiences with a single request: to not interact with the guide who picked me up for the remainder of my journey. I also stated later that I did not want to talk about what had happened to me until after I had left, felt safe within my own home, and was able to process my experiences. Despite that, on arrival back from the safari, the same tour guide who harassed me “welcomed” us back to Arusha. When I mentioned this to the representative I was speaking with, she mentioned it was because he was scheduled to meet with different clients at the same hotel. It was clear this was not the fault of the guide, but of Suricata Safaris — they scheduled him to be in the exact same location at the exact same time as me. Later that evening at 10PM, I was essentially cornered at my hotel lobby by a manager of Suricata. In short, neither of my two small and reasonable requests were accommodated by this company. The meeting was also very distressing. The manager tried to assure me that the company took these incidents very seriously (though that was obviously not true). Throughout the conversation there were moments it was apparent that he was lying to us, and would have to go back on what he said. The night culminated with him kneeling in front of me offering cash to me and those who traveled with me on the safari (though they were not present during the day trip). It later became clear that this money was offered so that we would be less likely to write unfavorable reviews. This experience made me so angry I left first, leaving the manager to speak with the friends I had made on the safari. Finally, despite explicit requests to not speak of this further until I had left, at 3:30AM for my airport drop off, the representative came to talk to me about the same incident. Overall, the manner in which this was dealt with was unprofessional and unhelpful. To be clear, I did not accept any money prior to posting this review. However, for transparency, I will be requesting a full refund after if the company is still amenable to that offer — I don’t believe I should be paying the company to be harassed. Though ultimately I was safe throughout my entire journey, there were many moments I genuinely feared for my safety. Looking back, I do think that this was an isolated experience and that the guide is genuinely sorry for his actions. Further, the waterfall is beautiful and the coffee and lunch experience were both engaging. That being said, as a company Suricata Safari failed to handle this experience and I leave deeply unsatisfied with their service.

We went the Chemka hotspring with the guide named Mr.T and absolutely had a fun, relaxing time. He picked us up at the hotel in Arusha at 8 a.m as he had told us the day before and played good Swahilli songs for us while driving. We loved the songs so added them to our YT music playlist. Also we could take amazing photos with the Mt Kilimanjaro heading to the hotspring, which was very lucky! (They said it s not easy to get a whole clear view of the mountain) As we were quite exhausted after a long flight we enjoyed only Chemka and skipped other spots; a coffee farm and Materuni waterfall. We could adjust the schedule as we wanted and took our time in Chemka swimming and relaxing. The water was so blue and clean, not so crowded in the morning. But it s not very warm so try to get a big towel or something to cover up after swimming. The Swahilli lunch after swimming was also very satisfying. Chicken BBQ was yummy and we emptied our plates.😋 I do recommend the tour the people who want to relax before or after a safari.

It was our second day in Tanzania when we had tour to Chemka hotspring. We had heard of this place before and seen it on TV shows, and were very excited to visit there. In the morning, this nice guy named Mr. T guided us to the spring. On the way, we were very lucky to have clear view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Mr. T was kind enough to stop by and took pictures of us. He also played us some good Tanzania music in the car and we enjoyed our ride. Finally when we reached the spring, we were amazed by its beautiful view with shining water and green trees. Mr. T kept an eye on us and our luggage so that we could play in the water. With wonderful weather, it was fantastic to swim in the spring. Water was very clean, transparent and just warm enough to swim! After nice swimming, we were very starving when Mr. T brought us to nearby local restaurants. We always wanted to try some local food and it was the best chance to try some. The food was fantastic with nice scenery around us. We even had chance to try banana beer, a local drink. Everything was perfect and I would like to highly recommend this tour and Mr. T to everyone coming to Tanzania.

This was a fantastic day out with Mr T . We started out by going to the waterfall - Mr T was happy to stop for us to get photos of the shy Mt Kilimanjaro . After the waterfall we had delicious lunch made by the local mama. We went to coffee roasting and had the most fun with the family . The day was finished off with a relaxing hot spa. All in all highly recommend this day - one of my favourite days so far . Thank you Mr T

Thank you for an unforgettable day in Zone 1 of Kilimanjaro. The walk to Mataruni waterfalls was filled in with informations about everything. Our guide Twah has great knowledge and is an absolutely caring person. He makes sure you get all the time you need for photos or just looking and he is very caring- making sure you don‘t slip in the moddy ground. Also the Chagas are a great experience. Their way of producing coffee is just amazing and fullfilled with joy and music. It‘s a tour I certainly will recommend to my friends.
