This tour is a must! It is safe, it is amazing and is not too crowded. The only thing I would do differently if I went again - I'd stay in Aqaba, Jordan instead of Eilat. Just because it would give me more time to explore as the border closes at 6. Petra is HUGE, it is much more than Treasury. Walk down was easy and very informative. Walk, don't take a ride. When you get there, Camel ride is $10, they will even take a lot of good pictures and videos with your phone. $10 more gets you a tour to a high viewing spot. Great pictures, breathtaking view. Not too hard and did not take long. Well worth it! Explore as much as you can, don't waste your time. Our group was set to meet at the entrance at 4. We decided to stay longer and take a ride back to our meeting spot. Golf cart ride is $35 per person. We stayed as long as we could and then took a ride. It is much harder to walk up in such heat, so golf carts are very handy. You will have to spare an hour for a walk back and only 20 min for a ride.

The tour and tour guide were terrific. We used Tour Isreal. However when asking Vistor for specific questions about fee’s needed to be paid at the border our answer’s from Vistor were vague, although it seemed other tour operator’s gave their client’s the same vagueness. That was a bit frustrating as we were worried about not having the proper payment resdy.

Large group tours are hit or miss. This one was at best ok. The guide was nice enough, but had a very strong accent in English and was hard to understand. He also didn't share that much information even though there was lots of time to teach the group. We spent way too much time at "stops" that were really just tourist shopping traps. When we got to Petra, rather than have the tour guide explain everything we were looking at as we walked around as a group, he left each of us to explore on our own for over two hours. Without a map and no explanations at the location, we just walked around aimlessly without knowing any historical information about what we were seeing. We finally had "lunch" at nearly 4pm at a very mediocre restaurant. Petra was, of course, still breathtaking and impressive, but the tour was neither.

This was my second visit to Petra so I will keep my comments to the tour itself. I traveled with my brother who had never been and he was justifiably impressed with Petra and the area. We were both extremally impressed by Tourist Israel's organization and keeping with the schedule. The bus arrived 15 min early to the pick up point and we left exactly on time. It does take time crossing the border but that is not on Tourist Israel and patience is needed. Once we crossed the border our guide and driver were waiting for us. They offered us each a cold bottle of water and sweet cookies. The guide's English was good and he was friendly. We had one rest stop (around 15 min) in each direction where you could purchase something to drink or souvenirs. Lunch was quite good at a local restaurant which was included in the price of the tour. We stayed on track and returned to the border to cross back into Israel with time to spare. The only negative I can mention is that when we crossed back we waited for a passenger that hadn't crossed back into Israel from a different Tourist Israel trip. Instead of sending us on our way and dealing with that separately we all waited for about an hour before they sent us on our way without the missing passenger. All in all, I would absolutely recommend Tourist Israel and the trip to Petra and would use them again in the future.

Pleasant and smooth trip, highly professional and attentive organizers, guide and driver. Petra is spectacular. Can’t go wrong with this tour. We started in Eilat, got picked up at a meeting point and taken to the border where we were promptly processed through both the Israeli and the Jordanian side of the border. Then we met our guide Careem and our driver, who made sure our experience is as pleasant as can be throughout the day. The ride was smooth, the guidance in Petra was fascinating. Awesome trip!

We booked a private tour to Petra from our place in Arad for our family of 5. They arranged private transfer to the border, crossing was easy and fast as we were not part of a large group. Our guide for the day in Jordan as Karim and driver was Mohammed. Karim is clearly passionate about Jordan and Petra. He provided a unique and memorable experience for us and catered to our interests. I would highly recommend a private tour if you are a group of five or more. It is a completely different experience than a group tour and well worth the additional expense.

We were not provided accurate information about the meeting spot by the tour operator (Tours Israel) and missed the bus. There was literally no customer service at all. We called, texted and emailed. Everything was automated. It was impossible to speak to a live person, and obviously the bus did not wait and the tour operator did not call, text or email me before leaving without us (me and my wife and 2 daughters). I was In Eilat and I later learned that the operator was based in Jerusalem and had no one within hundreds of miles to help. Afterwards we sent several follow up texts and emails and no refund was offered. I re booked the next day at my cost with booking-tours because I flew from Boston and was not missing a trip to Petra because of one horrible tour company with no customer Service. The second operator, booking-tours.com was terrific. They picked us up at our hotel. My advice is to book a tour through a reputable travel agent, as any tour booked through Viator is a roll of the dice. One day a horrible disreputable tour like Tours Israel, and the next day a great operator like booking-tours.com.

We had a great experience on this tour! Everything went as expected in terms of timing / border crossing and they made it very easy to follow with guides each step of the way. Our tour guide Karim was super friendly and knowledgeable and we felt very comfortable with him. It’s a long day for sure, but worth the trip.

This was a great opportunity to visit Petra and a good way to get to know our Jordanian neighbors! The tour was quite well-planned and interesting. However, there were as good things to say so less. One of the most important things is that we had a great Jordanian guide. His attitude was very friendly and he provided us with many stories and explanations on the way. The trip was conducted in an interesting manner while demonstrating and engaging the group members. A downside of this tour was that our bus collected people that came from different cities, and delays caused changes in the schedule. As a result, we did not visit Arons's Tomb as was said in the tour plan and our lunch was moved from around 11.00 am to 16.00 pm which left us hungry during the tour. The stops that were made on the way offered only snacks and not real food so to grab a sandwich from home would be a good idea. The other pitiful thing was the street dogs and the conditions in which horses, camels, and donkeys are kept. It seems like the animals are there only to provide tourists with attraction with no consideration for their needs. Some of them stand under the direct sun during the whole day with no shadow, food, or water in sight. The entrance to Petra is full of street dogs, and starting a tour with dogs whimpering because of a broken leg was really a sad way to start my vacation tour. Hope something will change there, and we will be able to enjoy Petra with a whole heart knowing that no animal suffers to provide us with entertainment.

It was a very professional tour. The guide was so kind, very enthusiastic, and was a great expert on the area. I wish I could have spent more time there. Next time I will book a longer trip (1-2 nights). Petra is a very special place!

The place is breathtaking. I took the one day tour and it was rushed. I would have rather not make any of the stops and have more time at Petra Our guide was nice and so was one lady that meets you at the border, the other person there was very rude. Don’t expect the tour company to reply to your messages and make sure to be on time. Even Viator was not able to do anything. Instructions were not clear and they will not wait for you not even 2 minutes. They don’t really check who’s on the bus so on the way back we were struggling for seats. Lunch was well organized and welcomed after the long walk Our group was split in 2 and we went with a local tour guide who did a wonderful job Don’t fall for the camel ride unless you just want to hop on and off a minute later. If you go during the summer suggest you were linen or 100% cotton loose clothing. You can wear shorts if you want to but if you burn easily go with pants or lo g skirt. Bring good walking shoes. They sell drinks everywhere If you want to really enjoy the place, the o e day option is not enough Crossing the border was very easy and well structured. So only because of the lack of response and the rushed tour is because I gave 3 stars, but it is worth it

Our tour guide was wonderful. Petra is really worth visiting. Take approximately $140.00 in cash in order to get an entry visa into Jordan.

Petra is a wonderful place and should not be missed if any where near. Our trip left Eilat right on time. The tour staff at the border was well organized and got us across efficiently. The Jordanian bus and driver were great. Our tour guide, Adnan was great. Extremely knowledgeable since he's also an archeologist. He kept us on schedule.

It was very nice! The tour guide Methqal was extremely knowledgeable and nice, he knew where things were and was always happy to answer questions or assist. He took the trip to the next level.

This company offers tourists trap tours to Petra. You reach at 1pm to Petra and have around 2.5 hour to explore. They promise in the day trip itinerary that you will reach at 11:30am to petra and have 4-5 hours to explore. This will never happen. Please be aware. 2.5 hours at Petra will not give you time to see anything. Such a disappointment. Classic tourist trap. They don't even answer their support phone. Worst service I have ever seen in my life.

Petra is a unique place that is worth the visit. Getting there is a schlep, though. I reserved a day tour from Eilat (Petra from Israel) that promised that only 25 people were to join. It started well, picking us up from the designated point on time in a nice minivan. They took us to the border. We crossed the border to Jordan by foot (that is the way to go) but on the other side we were left for almost 2 hours with no guidance. Finally the responsible person arrived and took forever to register everyone (we were waiting for a group that was coming from Tel Aviv...I am not sure why we stayed overnight in Eilat to get there earlier and have more time in Petra...that did not happen because we had to wait for the other group of people). The bus then loaded 35 people and 3 hours and half more on the road. The tour guide was too politicized explaining why his religion was better than others...I wish he gave us more historical facts about Petra. Then, in the city of Petra, we had to wait for him to go to headquarters to get the money to buy the tickets for us to get to Petra (there is no cashflow? Or why another employee could not have given us our tickets in front of the main gate when we got out of the bus? Then you walk more 2.5 km in bad surface, but Petra is unbelievable - the first view of the treasury getting out of the canyon is unforgettable. Tips: take everything you need - hat, sunscreen, water, small US bills and toilet paper. Be careful with the donkeys and their owners - they run over you. Enjoy the place - it is magical. And do more homework to get a better tour agency (although it seems to me they mix and match from different groups to maximize their earnings. Going back was faster and quick to pass the border.

Day tour to Petra from Eilat Confirmation number 1346155756 Booking number 957094534 We booked this tour with Viator since previous tours had been excellent.  However on this tour there were problems from the start.  “Pick up/drop off from any hotel in Eilat” … didn’t happen. When checking before the tour we were told the pick up point was at Club Hotel Eilat which required us to take a taxi and add an additional expense. Once on the bus to Petra our guide was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information.  However once we got to Petra we learned that our “guide” was not walking with us down the path to the treasury. We went on our own and that became a problem. We had never been told that there were golf carts which we should have taken (at an additional charge) to drive us over the long path to the treasury.  After much discussion and problems, we convinced a cart driver to take us the remainder of the distance. We had no guide, no one to provide information. There was no organization. It was awful! When we finally returned to the restaurant meeting point, we found much of the group had eaten and were ready to board the bus back to Eilat.  We gulped down some food and hastily left to find the bus.  This was the worst tour experience ever, and we are experienced travelers having been on numerous tours. We would never recommend this tour to Petra with Viator. The destination is fascinating and one not to miss but there are better tours available. Oh yes, we did convince the driver to reluctantly drop us off at our hotel …rather than rake us back to Club Hotel which would have required another taxi to get back to our hotel. Very disappointed in Viator.
