We had an incident arriving to the airport. We arrived late. The private driver refused to pick us up nor honor the remainder of the ten hour block paid in full. We are not fighting for a refund.

I had a day to spare in San Jose and decided to book a car & driver with The Baqueano - and I’m so pleased I did! Charles, the owner, was in contact with me immediately after my online booking to see how he could help and arrived exactly on time the next day. He was friendly, very knowledgable and the best guide I could have asked for, helping me decide on a plan for the day and staying with me to ensure I had the best experience possible learning so much about this beautiful country. The driver was very punctual and friendly. Water was provided, the vehicle was very clean. WiFi was also available on board. Small sights that were on the route were announced. You can then decide whether you want to stop or continue.

The Baqueano is an excellent tour company. They had us covered from the moment we arrived at the airport. The driver was waiting, holding a sign with our name, so there was no guess work. All cars for the the duration of the trip were air conditioned and in perfect riding condition. The drivers spoke English well enough to explain details of the day and answer any questions we had. The tours were phenomenal with the deep sea fishing tour winning over my husband’s top spot for the trip. The tour company also recommended a restaurant in town to cook the fish my husband caught. The chef prepared our meal to perfection and we had the best tuna steaks ever. The hiking and hot springs tour was my favorite, everything was arranged for us including a hiking guide to the waterfall. We were given all the time we wanted and since we did a private tour, we didn’t feel rushed by a group or as though we had to stick around longer than we wanted. This was truly a private experience. They picked our family up from the hotel daily and brought us directly back. They brought along extra towels and iced cold drinks. There was a toddler snorkel device and they even brought a car seat for our toddler on the days we were riding in a car opposed to the turismo van. I wasn’t expecting this, so you can imagine it was a pleasant surprise. They thought of everything. The drivers were on time, lighthearted, funny, and very professional. We had a local contact person to reach out to if we needed anything. We only needed to use this number once and were greeted by a happy voice on the first call (turns out our driver was actually waiting on us and we were in the wrong spot, haha). Charles gave us an absolutely exceptional experience of Costa Rica. My family and I went to Costa Rica mainly to see nature. Charles was available to us the entire time. He provided transportation in a comfortable 4x4 car with wi-fi. He made sure we made the best use of our time, facilitated all the activities and provided us with information about his country throughout. He even filmed our experiences (including some amazing drone videos) and at the end of our 14 days travelling around many parts of Costa Rica, he gave us a perfectly edited video. Had the best experience going from Peninsula to San Jose and back in one day! The loveliest driver Ronny who helped me with everything in San Jose when my passport got stolen and I had to arrange with a new one. He took me and my friends to fix everything I had to have for the new one and after took us to a breathtaking restaurant with the most stunning view. We felt really safe and we didn’t have to worry about finding the consulate, a photoplace or getting to the ferry in time… everything was arranged. So thankful for everything!!

Denis is very safe and attentive driver. He is local to La Fortuna, yet he knows all the places to visit across the country. He is very friendly and caring about his clients. Car is very clean and comfortable. Charles is very friendly and easy to communicate with. He made a point to stop and greet us personally one day during lunch, treating us to local liquor. Our driver was great!! He arrived a few minutes early in a very nice Mercedes van, with WiFi, full ice chest and iPad for music. We asked him to stop at an ATM and restaurant for lunch. The ATM was in a very secure spot and the restaurant was great. He drove us from our hotel next to Manuel Antonio to our hotel in Arenal, about 6 hours on some very winding roads. He was a fantastic driver. We will definitely book with this company again.

I called The Baqueano using WhatsApp. They were very accommodating to my family’s needs. Manuel was our driver and he arrived on time with a nice clean car. He took us to and from the Starbucks farm outside of San Jose. He spoke great English and was very conversational both the region. I will use this company again in the future.

I had a very pleasant experience with my driver Denis yesterday. He picked me up from San Jose airport and drove me to la Fortuna. I felt very safe, the car was clean and we had very nice conversation. Also it was quite late and I was very hungry so we stop to cafe, I thought to grab food to go to eat at the hotel but he offered for me to eat there since I was very hungry. It was very nice and thoughtful and I appreciate that a lot. 5 stars for service, safety and kindness. Denis gave me a lot of helpful tips and information about la Fortuna making sure I have my best time here. Appreciate Denis a lot. Overall communication with the company was very smooth and quick responses, which I appreciated. Would definitely use their service again. Thank you!!

Outstanding private car experience. Our driver arrived at out hotel 15 minutes early, his english was excellent, the car was clean and stocked with a variety of snacks and drinks plus wifi for the trip. Driving was smooth, with great conversation about a wide variety of topics and interesting details of Costa Rica. We explored several recommended stops including a particularly delightful local lunch meal near Liberia as we travelled to our Tamarindo destination. I highly recommend this company for any of your transport or guided tour needs - they are quick to respond, accurate with their info and professional in all ways.

Fernando was awesome! We just needed transport from Jaco to San Jose but he was good to stop and show us crocodiles and macaws along the way. We also asked about stopping by a good souvenir shop and he found us one. Definitely highly recommend!! Way better than driving yourself around. They were very prompt and professional.

I've never had such a great driving service as the Baqueño. I was offered a driver within 2 hours of contact (very fast) with great guidance, absent any problems. The drive itself was very professional and comfortable. Our driver Marlon was very attentive, helpful and kind and went the extra mile to bring us from San Jose to Tamarindo as safely as possible. From our first contact with Charles, he made sure we were accommodated. We had a small group with a couple of seniors and one with a foot injury, so it made some of the hiking tours difficult. Ariel worked with us to accommodate all of your needs. They were always very quick to respond and plan our day, keeping in constant communication. Our driver/tour guide, Jose, was so friendly and pleasant; we felt like we left with a new friend. I highly recommend using them for private tours and driving services.

It was a amazing day from Escazu to Puretrek in La Fortuna...I WENT ON THIS TRIP ALONE(no friend/family solo) I didn’t feel uncomfortable not one min from start to finish VIP EXPERIENCE, the driver was a great guy spoke good English it was a 3hr trip one way so a total of 6hrs on the road but it didn’t feel like it how it sound so much to see while driving... mind blown seeing this beautiful country... as far the excursion was one of my best times I’ve been to other places/country this is one of my best experiences...at puretrek the people there was amazing and explain everything the equipment and safety information, I enjoy every moment of the excursion it was 5 jumps 2 of them if off a water fall another was like a zip line to a pool that was so cool... LOVE IT AND I PROMISE YOU WILL TOO.... hope you enjoy yourself here in this beautiful COUNTRY.... I will definitely be back soon Also the lunch was GREAT TOO OMG

I cannot recommend the baqueano enough! If you are looking for a top quality experience then look no further. During my trip I was shown places I would have never known about. The drive was always smooth and the car super clean with drinks to choose from. Charles knows Costa Rica so well and was full of helpful information. I will definitely be booking again during my stay and would not go elsewhere!
