Andrei was the best tour guide; very knowledgable and flexible. The salt mine was amazing, the hike incredible and we ate the best food in Romania in the village on his recommendation. Highly recommend this day tour if you are in the area!

I would say this tour is a must if you are visiting Cluj-Napoca. There is a lot of variety, so you won't get bored. I personally enjoyed all of the stops we made.

Our guide, Tudor, collected us from our pick-up point, and it very soon became apparent that he was very passionate and knowledgeable about his country and his business as a tour guide. Immediately, I knew that I had chosen the best guide. The Turda salt mine was quite a spectacle, with some free time given to look around at your leisure. Turda Gorge was very spectacular, and we saw a couple of eagles and a stork. Tudor has a vast knowledge of nature and is always showing you points of interest. Rimetea village is like something from a picture postcard with the backdrop of the sleeping giant mountain. Hopefully, the village will soon be getting Unesco world heritage status to preserve its future. The last visit was at the Rimetea Monastery . The artwork here is nothing short of spectacular. We had the best day of our trip with Tudor on our tour. We got to see the real Transylvania, guided by someone who was knowledgeable & passionate about the area. We had so much fun, Tudor did everything in he could to make the day really special for us. We would have missed out on so much of Transylvania if we hadn’t taken this tour. I have done boring tours on trips before, this wasn’t one of them. The group size was perfect- 5 of us. We all got on really well, laughed all day, shared an amazing meal & were driven around everywhere in comfort to the soundtrack of Romanian music! I booked a last-minute tour and right from the very first text exchange through the last minute of the tour, Tudor was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. I only had one day to explore this area and I can’t imagine a more enjoyable time. It was a perfect mix of indoor and outdoor activities. Tudor was extremely accommodating and very fun. This is a must do experience!

This was an excellent trip taking in the Turda Salt Mine, the Turda Gorge and the Rimetea Village and Rimetea Monastry - perfect for anyone wanting to see a lot of things in the area around Cluj in a relatively short period of time. This was a small group (4 people) and Tudor was an excellent guide, who explained everything we saw and takes great pride in his city and country. The salt mine was an unique experience and the 90 minute hike in the gorge was breathtaking, but probably not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Would heartily recommend

We had the pleasure of joining a tour through the area of Cluj Napoca and were warmly greeted by our guide at the meeting point with chocolate! His enthusiastic demeanor and commitment made the journey an unforgettable experience. On the way to our first stop, the impressive Salina Turda salt mine, he shared interesting facts about the region and patiently answered all our questions. His knowledge and passion for the area were infectious and made the tour an absolute highlight of our trip. After exploring the salt mine, we embarked on a 1.5-hour hiking tour through a canyon, where our guide Tudor continued to enlighten us about the local flora and fauna, ensuring that the experience remained engaging throughout. During lunch at a local restaurant, we savored traditional dishes and had the opportunity to purchase cheese and local specialties at a nearby cheese factory. Tudor even filled the waiting time for our food with explanations about the country’s history, enriching our lunch experience further. Afterwards, Tudor took us to a typical Romanian village, Rimetea, where we could draw water from a well ourselves. To conclude the tour, we visited a monastery adorned with impressive wall paintings. Tudor then safely drove us back to the tour meeting point in Cluj, allowing us to relax and even take a power nap on the way, as he maintained a careful and steady pace throughout the journey. Surprisingly my wife and I were the only ones for the tour and so had a very private one. Our guide Tudor was top notch. A very safe driver, extremely knowledgeable and a sweet person to be with. Took us for the hike in the gorge and very ably guided us through our journey. Thank you Tudor for everything and wish you all the very best.

I booked this tour in order to see the turda salt mines. It was definitely worthwhile. I didn’t know what to expect, but the salt mine was a lot bigger than I expected and there was a lot to see. After the salt mines, there were a few other places that I was taken to. The monastery that I was taken to as part of the tour was worthwhile. The inside of the church was beautifully painted and interesting in see. I got to try some local Romanian food. There was also a short hike, which didn’t take too long. It is worth doing the walk for the view at the top. The guide provided water and a walking stick. I saw there were several walking sticks in the car, so a larger group could be catered for. On my way back to Cluj-Napoca, I was chatting with the guide, and I was told of several different places that I could visit in the city. This was important, since I had another day in Cluj-Napoca, and I could have missed out on something just by not knowing about it.

Wow! What a unique experience. I loved the variety of this tour - from a visit to a salt mine to a hike through a gorge to the small village of Rimetia to a monastery, this tour had it all! It is hard to say what part I loved most because each part was so different yet all were equally as enjoyable. And best of all, we had a tour guide who was so knowledgeable, energetic and fun to be around. He had extensive knowledge of Salina Turda and led us through at just the perfect pace. We had “free” time at the base of the mine and had enough time to rent a little row boat and paddle around the lake! The hike over the mountain and through the gorge was great fun. Tudor went at our pace and obviously loves being outdoors. When we finished the hike we toured a beautiful monastery and also the village of Rimetea which is a Unesco World Heritage site. Such an amazing hike and tour that Curly put on, he was so knowledgeable and friendly, I would recommend this tour to anyone who is going to Cluj and wants to get out and explore a bit of the culture and wilderness Transylvania has to offer!

Great tour with a good mix of nature, history and culture of the area around Cluj Napoca! On the hike we had a pack of stray dogs follow us which made the whole experience even better. Tudor was very nice and knowledgable. Would always recommend, its a great value!

What an amazing tour! I wanted specifically to visit the salt mine but the whole day was fantastic. Tudor was a wonderful guide, and the day was planned perfectly-not too much driving, plenty of time, a good mix of indoors and outdoor activities. We opted for the longer (9km) hike through the gorge, which yields amazing views (but did also yield 1500 ft of elevation gained!) A bonus was the several adorable dogs who were our hiking companions (I swear their fluffy wagging tails helped me make it up the hill!) Absolutely recommend this tour-a highlight of my trip in Romania so far for sure.
