Had fun in the cooking class ,every qeustion ansered . A lot of different local ingrediënt bought,every thing that was new/strange to us ,nice trip to market and explination from Sam aka the big guy in english . And good cooking from Wasanta,a lovely lady teaching us how the balance the flavors/colours of the different disches. One of the good things to do when u have time.

The best cooking class ever. Visit at the market, choosing and knowing new ingredients, everything with great company of Sam whose knowledge was great. Whole class was in a very good atmosphere, with smiles and jokes :) patience and a show of skills and knowledge by Washanta - priceless! Such an amazing day, I can't recommend this highly enough! We met at the restaurant then were taken to the market to select the vegetables for our dishes then onto the fish market to pick up some tuna. We returned to Wasantha where she made the magic happen! We learned so many great techniques and tips throughout the day. Every dish we made was so delicious! I couldn't eat dinner that night after such a big lunch. Definitely select this course, not one of the copy cat courses around! You won't be disappointed!

Such a great cookery class! We learned so much … many top tips and little insights handed down through the generations that you would never get from a cookery book. This is how to cook authentically but using a mix of ingredients so you can try (!) to recreate many of the dishes at home. Come hungry … there are lots of opportunities to try the many dishes as they are being cooked and the resulting lunch is huge! All in all excellent value for money!

Ist was the best cooking class we ever did. The trip to the market was amazing and Wasantha teached us real slow and good to understand. She is really kind and made it interesting. The Food was incredible delicious.

Booked a cooking class with Wasantha to experience authentic cooking in Sri Lanka. We first went to the local vegetable and fish markets buying the ingredients to cook. The class was incredible showing us different styles of cooking both modern and old methods. The end result was a feast of Sri Lankan curries served to us and leaving us feeling like family. Thoroughly recommend Wasantha, her cooking classes and restaurant.

A day well spent in Sri Lanka, learning to cook traditional curries with Wasantha and her family. First, a trip to the markets with Sam to select the fresh ingredients. Wasantha’s knowledge and personal approach were exceptional as she showed us some family recipes, while catering to our individual tastes and needs. The end feast was amazing, and this was certainly a day that we will remember.

We have been visiting Sri Lanka for many times over the years and never skipped eating Sri Lanka curry for a least once every week. This time we choose to "Cook with Wasantha" in Unnawatuna, it included shopping ingredients at the local marked and helping cooking the different curries at Wasanthas and eat together with other participants at the end of the day. Meeting other people, "working" and eating together is always a nice experience! Next year we'll visiting Sri Lanka again and I'm sure we'll be eating (and cooking) at Wasantha again.

A thoroughly enjoyable session indeed. The trips to fresh market and fish market were interesting exercises in themselves. The cooking explanations were clear, interesting and provided a good insight into how to make a range of curries. A lovely personality and good teacher as well

The whole cooking experience with Wasantha was an interesting, informative and enjoyable experience. The trips to the vegetable market and the fish market with her daughter meant all produce was described and carefully chosen by us. The actual cooking involved very detailed explanations of different curry styles and tastes. Overall, very comprehensive indeed. It actually was closer to five hours than four. I highly recommend this activity if you visit Galle.

We had an amazing time cooking and learning about the local cuisine! Especially visiting the old market and learning about all the local fruits and vegetables was interesting. We got to ask questions and could even choose four things to cook with. After the course we got the recipes to take home!

The Trip to the Market, and the cooking class with Wasantha was amazing! You get to choose your own curry ingredients from the variety of local fruits and vegetables at the market and then learn how to prepare multiple curries. Everybody there was so welcoming and friendly. And we also had great conversations over lunch with the family!

We had THE BEST experience today cooking with Wasantha! First, she and her family are the nicest people! So kind, giving us so many tipps for our holiday in Sri Lanka and treating us just the very best way! When we arrived they just gifted us some selfmade Snacks and water. Then all of them shared all their knowledge with us about the market, the culture, the local vegetables and fruit! We learned so much and they even sent us the recipies afterwards via WhatsApp! Since I‘m a vegan, they also adapted the class to our preferences and we made 5 different vegetable and fruit currys which all were amazing! Wasantha was so patient with us, explaining everything about the spices, the vegetables and the cooking materisls so detailed. We learned so much and it was heart warming to see the passion for cooking in Wasantha. In total it was just a 10 out of 10. really recommend! Lovely people, lovely food, lovely experience! 😊

We had a cooking class today with Wasantha and I'm still talking about it now. The market visit was great, the knowledge Wasatha has and shared so generously was incredible and the food was some of the best we have ever eaten. We took our 8 yr old, 5 yr old and 2 month old along and the whole of Wasantha's family were so accommodating. It is really hands on and so enjoyable. Thank you Wasantha. First of al they give all the information about the different vegetables and their health benefits at the market. And she is also very nice while cooking and explaining all the spices she uses. Interactive class. You get to cut the vegetables with her. And the overall result is amazing. The food was so freaking delicious it was amazing. We will definitely do it again!!

It was certainly a highlight of our time in Sri Lanka, and while in a very touristy area, the experience to watch and learn from Wasantha was super authentic and special. It will take a while to learn how to cook Sri Lankan food like she does, but we certainly learned basic skills and tricks to use in everyday cooking. Whether or not you are into cooking, I really recommend this as an activity. And you end up with a delicious selection of curries to taste!
