We booked and prepaid for this excursion. ($258 for two of us) I also booked two excursions from other companies during our vacation. Both of those companies contacted me personally, right away with further details about our excursion, things to pack, what to expect, meeting points, hotel pick up details, etc. Upon booking this tour, they never reached out to me. I made multiple attempts to contact the tour company in the days before the scheduled excursion to iron out details, with the contact info they provided via phone call, text message, and trip advisor messaging. We never heard anything back. Our pick up window (11:30a-1:30p) came and went and we never heard anything from the excursion company. I read good reviews, but the fact we paid and then were ignored is unforgivable. Horrible business, and now I have to go through the refund process since we prepaid. Book with them at your own risk.

This was our second time visiting Coba, because we had such a great experience the first time and wanted to share it with our kids. The cons: - You can NOT climb the pyramid as advertised. We were told after we arrived that climbing was closed do to COVID precautions. - You will have to wear a mask on the grounds of Coba. It was 98 F when we went. - Our guide had limited English this time around. - We thought we were going zip lining, but it was not the case. The pros: - I traveled with two teenagers and wasn’t sure if they would like it. Seeing their faces light up when the largest pyramid came into view and when they jumped into the Cenote was priceless! - This is the first time we saw the evening show and it was pretty good. I was always curious about how the ball game was played and we got a good overview in an entertaining format. - The Mayan village was neat. We were greeted by an old couple who shared how to make corn tortillas, natural medicine and demonstrated their bee-hives. - The Cenote was very refreshing after a day of hiking. This is an experience you won’t see anywhere else in the world. I was happy to share with the kids and will always cherish the memory. - My wife got a migraine midway through. The driver was very accommodating and allowed my wife to rest in the van while the rest of the group went ahead. - The included meal was substantial and tasty. (Rice, beans, pasta, chicken, pork, salad, tortillas, bread) - The facilities are clean and well maintained.

Welker our AMAZING tour guide made the trip for us!!!! Welker is Mayan and gave us so much inside information about the culture. The Mayan villages came alive when Walter was explaining his culture. His passion for his culture is inspiring. Fantastic company!! The food, the drive, and the sights were all fantastic. Pay the extra money and do a private tour with Welker, it is so worth it!!

We had originally booked a trip to Chichen Itza, but for some reason, we ended up missing that bus.We were offered the Coba Pyramid Sunset tour instead. We were kindly greeted by Señor Jorge Moo and the driver, Martin. Jorge was very knowledgeable about the Mayan culture and even gave us a crash course enroute to the pyramid. Once we arrived at the starting point, we hopped onto some rented bicycles and rode about 2 km to the pyramid. Once we arrived to the pyramid, We were fine to climb to the top if we wanted, I believe everyone from the group decided to not participate, except for Barbara(very BRAVE lady) Very interesting place indeed. We then went back to the restaurant and got ready for the zip lining. It was scary for me, but I was so glad afterwards, that I powered through and did it. After ziplining, we drove for about 10 minutes to the underground cenote. Pretty beautiful place to see. We went back to the restaurant for our delicious buffet dinner. There were some teens and children that put on a cultural dance for us while we ate. It was quite moving to me. After dinner, Martin drove us back to our resort safely and securely. I felt very comfortable with his driving skills. In the end, this trip to Coba was amazing! No regrets at not seeing Chichen-Itza this time. This trip was the absolute highlight of our week in Cancun. I will never, ever forget this amazing experience. Thank you :)

We loved our Coba tour experience! Our guide Roberto was friendly, funny, and helpful and clearly very knowledgeable about the Mayan culture. We loved learning about the culture and ruins and riding bikes to the last ruin to climb. The cenotes were beautiful and a refreshing almost end to our day. The dinner buffet was delicious and the dinner show was an immersive learning experience about the Mayan culture.

We selected the Coba Sunset tour hoping to have less tourists around at the time we were climbing Coba. For the most part, that seemed to be true. The ride was not that long from the coast, but took about 3 hours from our hotel. We were the first people picked up... last people dropped off... so we were gone about 10 hours. Once at Coba we rode bikes to the temple, climbed to the top... it is STEEP and slippery! But awesome views! Going down takes longer... hold on to the rope! :) We then rode bikes through the complex and looked at other sites such as ball courts and other temples. It was interesting and not a lot of people around. We then went ziplining. The wind kept us from really zipping... and the people had to help get us to the other side. Then we went to a cenote! It was awesome! Lots of people, but plenty of room to swim. Very rustic/rural, but there are bathrooms and changing rooms and showers and lockers. Then it was off to a wonderful Mayan buffet and dinner show just as the sun was setting! If you go, during the ride back to your hotel, look up! The sky is so full of stars! It was beautiful!

The brochure portrays this as a informative, immersive cultural experience, complete with a sunset dinner show....this was not at all what we received. The shuttle to coba was cramped and uncomfortable for such a long ride. The guide tells you some of the history of the area but it is quick and very vague/basic and done on the bus ride up. Because we had a car with English and French speaking guests we had to wait for him to explain in both languages. We are told in the bus that you must take a bike or pay the people to bike you to the ruins. You can not walk. This is a lie. Having done a different coba tour before, we easily walked it. The guide again gives some vague information of the site. We are then split into the cultural tour group and zip line/cenote group. We should have done the zip line. They walk us to a families house where along the way he picks leaves off of random plants and hands them to us to smell. We are now with a Spanish group so most of the talking is done in Spanish and we aren't too sure what is happening. At the house we are greeted with a small performance by some kids who weren't really taking it seriously. In the house, we saw a cooking area with tortillas, and some bees in a box, and got the worlds tiniest ball of clay to "make a souvenir to take home". This is very rushed. From there we walk back to the dinner area. The brochure makes it seem like a beach. No. It is upstairs of a local restaurant where a poorly constructed stage/set is located. We are given vegetables on a plate. Stale, hard buns, followed by the worst chicken meal you will probably ever have. Many people took one bite and then left the rest. Dessert was a tiny plastic cup of either coconut cream, vanilla cream or a few fruit bits. The show was clearly family run and dragged on. There was no real information there. Overall a huge disappointment and a waste of a day, especially when it costs 130 US dollars EACH. I would never recommend this tour to anyone. Do a different coba tour or better yet rent a car and go in your own. Google would give you more information then what these guides did.

We went in a small van. The 1st part was the tour of Coba. We upgraded to the Mayan Limousine (three wheel bicycle with a seat in the front that seats 2 passengers) as we toured around the ruins. We had the short tour that included the main pyramid and a ball court (plus a few more stops. The jungle blocks all breezes so it is hot and humid. We had a choice between a cultural tour or a zipline/cenote. All of this happens right at the entrance to Coba. Skip the cultural tour. We had expected to go out in the jungle (like we did 10 years ago) but this was someone's property down a trash filled back alley. Dinner was decent, a small buffet with good food. They put on a show after dinner featuring people playing at the ball court. Be prepared to do a lot of tipping.

We were in the Cancun area for 2 weeks for our honeymoon and this was our favorite excursion we did! Highly recommended! We loved that it was small group tour (8 people total). Our guide, Dulce, and driver were fantastic and provided so much information about the area and the Mayan people! Coba itself is incredible and we loved that it is a little less touristy than other Mayan ruins. Coba is truly massive but much of it has yet to be excavated which is really cool in its own way as well. We loved riding bicycles through the jungle and even got to see a spider monkey climbing through the trees. We chose the “extreme” tour which included one giant zip line across the main lagoon (super cool) and a dive into a covered cenote (an absolute must see if you’ve never been to a cenote). Dinner and the show featuring the Mayan ball game felt very authentic and we really enjoyed it! The sunset also did not disappoint : ) We were a little disappointed that you don’t actually go to climb the highest Coba temple at sunset (which the tour seems to advertise) but it didn’t end up being a huge deal even with the high heat and humidity. Overall, we had a fantastic day and would highly recommend it!

First time in Mexico, we didn’t do many excursions but this was one we chose. We booked through the Thomas Cook rep at our hotel so for transfers, Coba village tour, swim in a cenote and food with mini Myan show. Overall decent value for money, but unsure the tour guide was worth it. We were on an English speaking tour, for the most part he was good, he was very friendly. I didn’t feel we got enough historical background and information on Myan life. We didn’t learn much from him. He would also race off and start talking about the next site without all the group which I didn’t like. Coba itself was great! Climbing to the top was a bit scary and precarious, but the views are well worth it. Amazing to get to appreciate the architecture of the Mayan’s. The cenote swim was a drive away, which we hadn’t realised. It was a great experience but we didn’t get long there. Cool to see - lots of steps and deep down so think about this if you have any mobility/claustrophobia. The ‘dinner’ was erm, interesting. Kind of cafeteria style with other tour groups. Food was ok, some kind of traditional Mexican but nothing special. The show was ok too, good to have something to watch whilst eating. It’s not really a sunset tour either, we left the hotel at 1330 and we’re back by around 2000. Overall it wasn’t quite what we had expected, but it was great to see the old Mayan village, the structures are amazing and to get to climb one was excellent!

We've visited Mexico (west coast) before multiple times, went on various tours, and this by far was the worst. We were told the drive time was 1.5 hr (from Playa del Carmen), but with picking up all the other people to fill the shuttle, it took 3 hours to get there. While speeding down the highway, the guide handed out liability waivers written in bad English that we will not sue the company should anything happen, and that they are not responsible for anything, and even if we sign, the Spanish liability waiver takes precedent. Well, how do I know what the Spanish one says? Why couldn't I sue them, if it was their negligence? Not the main point though. We had 2 Spanish speakers in the group, so the tour was bilingual. It was very difficult to follow due to guide's poor English and quiet voice. He had a folder with pictures in plastic sleeves that he would show us while talking. We must have gotten to the park close to closing time, because after climbing the tall pyramid and looking at Xaibe, we stopped at ball court to talk to fellow travelers to figure out what it was (guide was MIA), and some park employees rudely told us that they're closing and we need to go. Afterwards we went to cultural tour. As we were the only ones from the group to choose that, we had to join another group with a different guide. His English was a bit better, but not demeanor. As we were in the hut with old grandma and her mini tortillas, he was explaining that the Mayans built huts with rounded corners because it helped in case there was a hurricane. I asked how those rounded corners actually prevented the huts during disasters, and he acted like I asked a dumb question and said "Well, hurricane Wilma (?) came and went and the hut is still here!). Never mind that the hut next door had perfect four corners and was standing there as well. The pottery part was a joke, as they gave a walnut sized piece of clay to make your project that nobody from the entire group took with them. Also the old man of the house showed some leaves, let people smell them, and showed and talked briefly about his bees. The whole "cultural" part felt very dumbed down, with a guide that had little to no knowledge or desire to explain things. As we had owned bees ourselves, we were interested in how the old man took care of his, how he harvested the honey, but our guide did not bother to answer the questions at the house, and when I asked him about it as we were walking to the dinner place, he just made up some lame roundabout stories that made no sense. After the tour I looked up the information on the internet (no charge for that!) The only reason I gave it 2 stars is the fun climb up the pyramid and that we got fed while watching the show. The food was not great, but good enough. And then on the way back to resort we, again, spent 3 hours on the road. Long story short - don't waste your money, check out other tours that might have more qualified guides.

The tour and guides were great. This is the tour for anyone who wants to climb a pyramid before it is forbidden because of erosion, In the space below, I was solo but I was with my son's family.

Jose, our guide, did a great job of teaching us about the ancient Mayans and the history of Coba. The excursion took us into the jungle a little bit, on bicycles, with an opportunity to see several ruins. It did feel a bit rushed, but was fun. Be careful of poisonous trees! One of them has oils that react with your skin. We had no idea...just to be safe...don't touch any of them. Coba, the structure, was simply impressive! Climbing it was terrifying and thrilling at the same time. Please, wear sneakers!! The steps are very tall, and insanely slippery!! Coming down was....just scary. Yes. Come down on your butt, like a toddler, with the rope. The sunset dinner was interesting. The food was good. The staff was attentive. The show depicting a Mayan ritual was intriguing, but having a narrator to explain it would have been helpful. It was easy to get lost. The cenote was breathtaking and soooo with it! The water was so clear, so cool, and just gorgeous! Overall a fantastic day!!

Was an amazing city to go see. It is worth renting the bike and riding as the city is so large. Hiked the temple one of the last temples you can climb. The cinote was impressive, dinner and show was fun. Would highly recommend this tour.

Pros: small group size, pick up at 11:30 instead of the usual 7-7:30 for tours. Coba site is beautiful and the climb intense (amazing views!) and well worth the effort. My 12-year-old son and I were sweating from the heat but the climb was totally doable. Wear proper shoes as it is definitely slippery. The stones further from the rope are less worn and, as a result, not as slippery. Riding bikes through the jungle was fun. Zip line was fun and cenote was cool and refreshing - 18 meters below ground. Dinner was good - they have vegetarian options, too. Show was entertaining. Guide was knowledgeable and passionate - grew up in Coba village and of true Mayan descent. Driver was great - safe and friendly. Cold water provided throughout. Cons: not less crowded as advertised. The visit to the ruins is first stop on the tour (at about 2pm) so it’s hot and crowded - not what is advertised in pamphlets, etc. I would have preferred a Coba/Tulum combo tour but went with the Coba Sunset based on the lure of the “cooler, less crowded, visit at sunset” verbiage of the pamphlet. Coba ruins are absolutely gorgeous and should not be missed. Highly recommend a visit.

The drive was long. About 2 hours from Generations Resort. Worth it. Left at 12 and returned at 9pm. We were able to climb the ruin- steps are slippery. Wear appropriate shoes and clothing. The tour was nice because there was a maximum of 12 of us. We chose to swim in cenote and zip line across lagoon. The dinner show was very interesting and the food tasty.

I visited Coba with my dad (who is 63)! This was a wonderful experience! The climb is quite difficult, but slow and steady you can do it! The views from the top are incredible! I definitely suggest paying the extra $$ to have one of the tricycle rides as our legs were like jello after climbing up and down. **Don’t forget to tip nicely as they do this all day for 8-10 hours with no breaks! We chose the village after the hike and that was very eye opening to how the Mayan’s really live. The supper and show were also excellent! I highly recommend this tour!
