Words can't express how incredible this experience turned out to be! It was our first time rock climbing and scrambling, and there were moments of fear, but our guide Andrew was absolutely amazing. He ensured our safety every step of the way. Exploring Sugarloaf mountain with his expertise was truly epic, and it helped us conquer our fear of heights. The perfect conclusion to our Brazilian vacation!

Can’t begin to describe how amazing this experience was. First time rock climbing / scrambling for both me & my partner, and it felt scary at times but our guide Andrew was fantastic and made us feel 100% safe at all times. Easily the most epic way to experience the Sugarloaf mountain and combat a potential fear of heights with a guide who truly knows what they’re doing! Perfect way to end our vacation in Brazil. Really recommend this company if you want to try rock climbing for the first time, in an iconic setting.

Good if you're into hiking, but a little expensive for a short 1.5 hour hike. The ride down from the gondola isn't free as mentioned here, it's 40 reais.

Fantastic experience. Muy buena. Recomendada. Mas facil y al mismo tiempo dificil de lo que pensaba. Tougher yet easier than i thought. Great views. A good challenge to yourself. Bellas vistas. Un buen desafío para uno mismo. I recommend going down also by foot. Recomiendo bajar a pie. To be truth to the cause. Go down by foot also. Bring good shoes with goopd non slippery or grippy sole for rocks. Traigan zapatos con suela adherente o buena para rocas.

A few rain clouds couldn’t keep us from enjoying the climb and getting to the top. I had a great experience scrambling and climbing Sugaloaf with Andrew. A bit of rain early added some difficulty to the climb, but Andrew confidently assessed and led us upward. We stopped at the Philosopher’s Stone to soak in the amazing views and snap a few pictures. Then, we continued our hike to the summit. If I visit Rio again, I’ll definitely seek out Andrew for another climbing adventure.

Best way to see the most amazing sunset of Rio. A great climb, with a kind and fun teacher. Highly recommend.

Oh my goodness. It’s difficult to put into words what an incredible experience this was. From the beginning I was communicating seamlessly with the owners/ guides- Mingo & Andrew, who were extremely flexible with my flight delays and changing schedules. The one thing on top of my Rio to do list was to conquer my first multi pitch climb and Andrew more than delivered. The process was extremely well planned & communicated. I brought my own shoes/ harness and they took care of everything else- helmets, rope, etc. Andrew’s experience and knowledge of climbing put me at ease. Regardless of your climbing experience there is a route for you on Sugarloaf, and fabulous FUN guides willing to take you and show you the ropes (quite literally). This was the best way to see/ experience Rio - even better than Cristo Redentor :). Put this at the top of your to do in Rio list!

Had a fantastic morning with Mingo who showed us the adventurous route up the sugar loaf. We felt very safe the whole way up and Mingo was very knowledgeable.

Awesome climbing guide - super safe, extremely knowledgeable and just an all around great person to hang out with. Went with a friend to climb Italianos and Secundo and had the best time with Mingo. Can’t recommend him enough!

Went to Rio for New Year’s and learned that Rio has fantastic climbing. After initial messages discerning my experience level, they gave me detailed options of routes to choose from. They also had equipment to rent. Then we met up and my guide Gabriel was extremely experienced and knowledgeable. I enjoyed a challenging multi-pitch 5.8-5.9 climb and felt safe the entire time. I wish I had more time to discover Rio by mountain.

We did the Sugarloaf scramble with Andrew in March 2020. We like to hike but have almost no climbing experience. It was a perfect route to give us a little challenge and excitement but not too difficult to deter beginners. Don't hesitate. Go do it! Andrew was a great guide. Very chill and easy to get along with but professional, too, when we need pointers and guidance to hike/scramble/climb safely. We were first time visitors from USA so didn't know the area well. Andrew is knowledgeable and fun to talk to about the city, area, history, architecture, geological formations, etc. At the top we took in the views and got some good recommendations about what else to check out in the city based on our interests. Awesome experience and 100% recommended.

A fantastic day climbing one of the most iconic places in Rio. Our guide, Andrew, was very accomodating to our timetable as we, unfortunately, had poor weather. On the route, he provided constant guidance for some of the trickier parts and in general was an all-round delight to have in our group :) I would thoroughly recommend for anyone who likes climbing/hiking and a bit of a challenge! Bring bug-spray, suncream and lots of water!

I was in Rio traveling alone and without any climbing gear but wanted to go climbing there nonetheless, so I contracted these guys. Communication via mail and WhatsApp was very good, we decided to go to Babilonia hill (behind the cable car starting station) for the good view and nice options for medium level climbs. I went with Andrew, the atmosphere with him was really good and the climbing and the view there were amazing. After the trip I got some pictures and even some suggestions for a nice hike. The gear seemed ok to me, but for belaying we used regular tubes, so if you prefer semi automatic ones it might be better to bring your own. I can highly recommend Rio for climbing and going with these guys. If I come back to Rio I'll probably book another tour with them.

Our guide (Andrew) was very flexible about what day we wanted to climb, as the weather was terrible. He guided us along the route (bring bug spray and sun screen) and coached us up some tricky, steep terrain. There was one portion of rope climbing which was challenging for those who had not climbed before. Andrew provided flawless coaching and encouraged the less-confident of us up the route. At the top the views were unreal. Not to be missed!

At the last second, we reached out to Climb in Rio to see if they could guide us up SugarLoaf Mountain. Andrew responded quickly and was available to take us the following morning! This last-second decision turned out to be the highlight of our trip to Rio. Andrew is incredibly knowledgable about climbing and Brazil culture/politics which led to great climbing and fun conversation! If you climb and are visiting Rio, this experience is a MUST!

Wow what an amazing afternoon. Met Andrew at the meeting point on time. Absolutely fantastic experience, I’ve never climbed before but am fairly fit. What an experience, I felt very safe. Andrew was fantastic, such a humble and friendly person and had great conversation. The views are absolutely something else. Well worth it and a MUST! 5 Stars all day long!!

Great experience! It was my first multipitch, but I had experience in sport climbing outdoor (max level 6b). Meeting point in front of the cable car of urca at 7am. Good approach for warm up of 20 min more or less where you walk on the side of the urca mountain (smaller than Pao de Açucar). The whole climb is made of 6 pitches of level 6a (2 of them are 5b-c): italianos + secundo. You can decide to stop in the middle and continue with a via ferrata. The type climb is slab, so you don't need a lot of strength in arms, but a good technique on using the feet. Holds for hands are often very small and you use fingers only to balance.
