A friend of mine mentioned the StrEATS of Philly food tour and how much she enjoyed it. I thought it would be a special way to celebrate my son’s 30th birthday, and it was! We met Chef Jacquie on a Thursday evening and started off with some history around the Italian Market. We stopped for a wine and cheese tasting at DiBruno’s Bottle Shop, cannoli tasting at Isgro’s and a delicious family style dinner at Paesano’s. It was so enjoyable with Chef Jacquie, who is very informative and fun! We finished the evening at Cucina Maria’s for dessert. The experience certainly exceeded our expectations and I would highly recommend it!

This is an excellent way to learn about the Italian Market, Italian history, and Italian food. All of our stops were carefully selected by our guide and were very upscale and delicious. We started with samples of meats, cheeses, sweets, and wine from several different shops and worked our way to an absolutely fabulous, made-from-scratch dinner. Words cannot say how delicious the food was. We had a fun dessert ending of Italian Ice over ice cream. What a refreshing and fun way to end our tour. Jackie was an interesting and excellent tour guide and expert chef as she led us through so many delightful taste experiences.

We had a great time! Jacqui is full of stories from living in the Italian Market area and everyone knows her. It's not totally clear on TripAdvisor but you walk to a few shops for sample and then sit down for a three course dinner that was DELICIOUS. I'm a student and she gave me a list of when and where to get the cheapest produce, tortillas, etc. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful afternoon and early dinner. Jacquie is a lifelong resident of the area and knew so much of the history and evolution of the market area. She made yummy recommendations for snacks at the shops and for dinner. I loved the Nutella Cheesecake. Plus, her suggestion for Cheesesteaks was right on. At the end of the tour, other guest member and I mixed up our purchases. Jacquie helped us get in touch, so we could switch out.

A private chef led tour was the best choice for our friend's 40th bday. It was personalized and based on her favorites. We had the BEST time and felt so comfortable with Chef Jacquie! This would be great for families, friend groups, corporate team building events etc. Jacquie is relatable, knowledgeable, friendly and fun and adapts to your groups energy and food preferences. I received this as a birthday gift from my wife, to do with our friends. Jacqui’s was great! She was funny, informative, and knowledgeable of the area and the history. The dinner was wonderful and would recommend doing this for couples or even a group of friends.

A wonderful comprehensive walking tour if the Italian Market in South Philadelphia. Jacquie is a wonderful guide with lots of history, architecture and personal references. Dinner was fabulous! Recommend for locals and tourists alike.

We had a great time exploring some fantastic food. Chef Jacquie is like the mayor of the Italian Market, everywhere we went she seemed to know someone. Her knowledge of the local history and the local food scene was insightful. We had a wonderful experience for our anniversary. All the places we ate were fantastic and would return to eat at again. We had a great time with Chef Jacquie and plan to do one of her other tours in the future.

We were always trying new places, new foods and had great authentic stories for each one. Highly recommend taking one of her tours if you have a chance. We had a blast !

Highlight of our weekend in Philadelphia. Jackie's knowledge was impeccable. The flavors of Philadelphia's Italian heritage that she guided us through were amazing! We will repeat this anytime we return. The food and conversation were irreplaceable. Cucini Maria restaurant, OMG!

As foodies, my mom and I were seeking an authentic experience of the Italian Market and Philadelphia’s Italian-American food culture. We are so grateful we chose StrEATS of Philly, led by Chef Jacquie, as she delivered just that. Jacquie was informed and personable; she introduced us to many of the market’s incredible sites, smells, and flavors. She shared stories of her life between Philadelphia and Bologna, Italy, and tales of her immigrant ancestors. Jacquie enjoys decades-long friendships with some of the restauranteurs and purveyors she introduced us to. We felt like locals as we chatted with these generous folks about olive oil, cheeses, and much more. Jacquie’s experience as an Italian-American Philadelphian shows in her deep knowledge of the cuisine, culture, and history of her community, both here and abroad. We researched several other operators for an interesting day tour, but many seemed cookie-cutter. Chef Jacquie serves up anything but.

If you like food I would highly recommend Chef Jacquie's eating tour on your first day, she was wonderful. She gave us Philly history, took us around the neighborhood, told us neighborhood info and we ate good food. We took the dinner tour it was the best thing to do to get introduced to everything.

This tour with Jacqui was the highlight of our trip to Philadelphia! She was so much fun, and had a wealth of knowledge of the market and all of the restaurants we visited due to the fact that she grew up here. All of the food was fantastic, and it was so much fun to walk around the market with her trying different things. . If I ever make it back to Philly I will definitely take another tour with her!

Chef Jacquie helped me make my wife’s birthday special by leading us on a walking and tasting tour of the iconic Italian Market in South Philly. It was a group tour, but it became a private tour since we were the only ones who signed up for the weekday tour. We sampled cheeses and other goodies from two cheese shops; pastries, candy, tea and espresso at a coffee shop, and enjoyed a leisurely dinner of salad, crusty Italian bread, melt-in-your mouth gnocchi, and tasty meatballs at Cucina Maria (plus our BYO wine). Throughout the walking and the eating, Jacquie educated us about the history of the Italian Market from the first immigrants to today. She was the perfect host and guide, and we’ll probably take another tour she offers of a nearby neighborhood. She also inspired us to attend the Market’s annual festival in the third weekend of May. The tour was wonderful. Our granddaughter (age 15) was visiting from the West Coast and is a real foodie. Our guide, Chef Jacquie, was great and really responded well to her and the few other "foodie" children on the tour. We had several stops but it was nice to start with a "special" meatball, sauce, bread while we were introduced to the history of the Italian market and the itinerary. Each stop was well curated and the dinner (gnocchi ) was delicious. Stopping at Anthony's as the finale was terrific as we had espresso and some sweet treats. We were offered a 10% discount at our stops and we certainly used them, especially since Easter dinner was imminent. I would recommend this tour, noting that the walking was minimal (for those who have difficulty) and the stops were all easy to navigate.

Chef Jacquie was absolutely fantastic! We completed the South Philly Italian Market tour for my husband's birthday. Jacquie went above and beyond to provide a delicious and informative tour of the market. The food was very tasty and she is well respected in the community. it was a great evening and we went home very full. Can't wait to go back to south Philly and eat more delicious Italian food. We also want to try out some of the other tasting tours that Chef Jacquie operates!! Highly recommend!!!
