On this Full Day Tour, you will get to know the largest canyon in Latin America, located in the Aparados da Serra National Park, in the city of Cambará do Sul. In the beautiful setting, which was used for the filming of the miniseries “Casa das Sete Mulheres”, you will witness the beautiful millennial basaltic stroke, approximately 700 meters deep and six kilometers long. Two easy trails through the edges allow to see the walls covered by Araucaria: the Vertice (3km, 45 minutes, round trip) and the Elbow (6km, two hours, round trip). At the end of the tour, a delicious picnic awaits you!

Witness the beautiful millennial basaltic stroke, approximately 700 meters deep and six kilometers long. Two easy trails through the edges allow to see the walls covered by Araucaria: the Vertice (3km, 45 minutes, round trip) and the Elbow (6km, two hours, round trip).

Stop At: Cânion Itaimbezinho Trilha do Cotovelo, Rodovia RS 429, KM 18 - Cambará do Sul, RS, 95480-000, Brazil
The Cotovelo (Elbow) trail is 6.3 km long (round trip) on a completely flat path, with a walk that takes an average of 2:30h (round trip).
People of all ages can take the Elbow trail, which starts at the park's headquarters. Most of the path is made by an old park road, the rest of the path is made by the edge of the canyon.
Arriving at the first viewpoint, it is possible to see the classic image of the Itaimbezinho walls. Then the trail continues to follow the canyon where you can see views from other angles, with emphasis on the Elbow, which gives the name to the trail.

The Vertice Trail also starts at the park's headquarters, on a shorter route, 1.4 km long. It takes an average of 45 minutes of walking (round trip) and the level is easy and can be done by people of all ages.
Along its route there are lookouts where it is possible to see the Cascata das Andorinhas, a fall of approximately 200 meters high. The fall is formed by Arroio Perdizes which later becomes the Boi River and cuts through the rest of the canyon.
In the second viewpoint it is possible to see the Véu da Noiva Waterfall, with a fall with 289 meters high. Its waters are formed by Arroio Preá, which helps in the formation of the Rio do Boi, a river that flows at the bottom of the canyon.
At the third viewpoint, you can see the two waterfalls and the beginning of the Itaimbezinho Canyon, which is in the shape of a vertex and gives rise to the name of the trail. At the end of the trails, it's time to replenish your energy with a tasty picnic.

- There are two easy trails leading to opposite sides of the canyon. You can do both or one only and wait for the rest of the group.

- Departure from Canela (Matriz Square, 69 - room 09 - Downtown): 7:50 am

Image on website is misleading. Expected a hike along the natural river edge and base of canyon area. Resulted in a walk on concrete paver paths and a dirt service road with vehicles passing by us. Bus ride to location is on paved roads and dirt roads. Later section is rough and ride becomes ...

Bus ride to location is on paved roads and dirt roads. Later section is rough and ride becomes quite bumpy on the bus. Lunch was a salami meat sandwich, green apple, cinnamon roll/bread and juice. Far from Brazilian treats in my opinion as per the description! Views of canyon are stunning and only positive part of experience. I purchased an English guided tour and the guide didn't speak English. On entry to the park was forced to pay R$50 even though this was advertised as already included in my ticket, and there is no mobile signal there so can't log on and show it off your mobile. The company only leases the tour from a larger bus company, and basically wiped their hands of responsibility when I complained at the office. In fairness to the larger bus company they swiftly acknowledged the wrong and offered part refund but I've yet to received. Luckily met passengers on board who spoke English to help me, but I wouldn't have purchased knowing there was no English speaking assistancefredg574

O Canyon é espetacular. Quem gosta de passeios pela natureza deve conhecer o Itaimbezinho que fica num parque nacional. Se você estiver de carro sai bem mais barato que por agências. O piquenique fornecido no passeio não justifica o preço altíssimo cobrado. Se você gosta de trilhas mais exigentes...

Paisagens lindas dos Cânions e cachoeiras! A caminhada é longa (bem informada na descrição do passeio), mas as visões compensam muito! Natureza bela e ainda pouco explorada. O passeio foi muito agradável. Antes e depois de chegar ao parque houve parada em uma padaria para lanches e banheiros. O...

O passeio foi muito agradável. Antes e depois de chegar ao parque houve parada em uma padaria para lanches e banheiros. O parque também possui alguma estrutura nesse sentido. O passeio inclui um lanche simples mas suficiente. Quero destacar o condutor do nosso passeio - Itamar - que fez os papeis de motorista e guia. Dirigiu sob chuva e neblina na ida, acompanhou o grupo em toda a caminhada mantendo-se sempre disposto, atencioso com cada pessoa do grupo (que tinha criança, pessoas mais velhas e jovens) e acrescentando informações curiosas e interessantes sobre o local, demonstrando muito gosto pelo que fazia. E o dia que começou com chuva abriu e nos possibilitou um passeio maravilhoso!itamar_s
