Helpful and friendly staff. Canoes were more comfortable and lighter than ones we've used with other companies. They have a back rest which makes a huge difference! We also like how you are transported to the start point first, and can make your way at your own pace without a deadline to be back at the finish point. Driver was good and van comfortable.

A mix of site seeing, tanning, exercise and tactical manoeuvres. We booked online a few days in advance and opted for the 12km route from Cénac to Beynac. The staff were very helpful upon reaching the check-in location, and soon we were being driven to the starting location of our chosen route. The canoe journey was fun, picturesque, but also a lot of hard work. The river may have been busier due to the Summer period, so there were numerous canoes and tour boats which we had to avoid. Along the way we passed plenty of small villages and saw a number of castles on the hillsides. In total it took us around 2.5 hours to complete the journey back to base...without any stops. I would suggest going in your swimming trunks and taking a packed lunch/picnic - this way you can stop somewhere on route and enjoy a quick dip and a bite to eat. Definitely opt for the plastic container to keep your personal belongings dry. A trip worth taking and something we would do again.

This was a great way to experience the beauty of the region. The staff was friendly and very helpful with my limited french. The operation was run very smoothly from check in, to launch, to landing.

We’ve canoed on the Dordogne rive a million times over the years. Just tried Butterfly for the first time because it’s base station is usually located on the south bank between Castelnaud-la-Chapelle and Envaux. The advantage is that the base station is less manic than others cheek by jowl in St Vincent de Cosse, Beynac, Cenac. We left our cars there and were bused up to a quiet spot just upstream from Cenac for the 14km classic going Cenac La Roque-Gageac (stopped for ice cream and swim on beach just downstream of La Roque) then Castelnaud then Beynac then delightful quiet last 1km from Beynac to the Butterfly stop. Delightful because you’ve left behind the crowds at Beynac. Staff nice, helpful, acceptable English. Good triple canoes and single kayaks. We took a mixture and swapped. Allow lots of time so you can swap for picnic ice creams and swims. We took 2pm coach and got back to base late at 7pm. We do like to take out time though. Great value for money when you do it that slowly! PS my teen has special needs and can swim but can’t paddle. Like all local canoe companies here that’s no prob with them. He just sits in the boats and lets us paddle...

We are staying on holiday near les milandes and saw canoes butterfly. We made enquiries the day before our trip just in case we needed to book. They took our name and start time but didn't need payment until we hired the canoe. On the day we drove to the large car park and parked in the shade. We took out the small amount of items we needed for the day. At the cabin we paid for a 3 person canoe and a box to put our belongings in. We didn't have to pay any deposit. We could pay by cash or card. We then waited about 5 minutes and a large bus took us to vitrac this would give us 16km of river back to where we started. You could choose 5km or 25km also. When we got off the bus we gave our receipt to the guy who spoke perfect English, and he fitted us with life jackets and gave us our box. We could also choose our oars. We were then taken to the river to the boat where he gave us a push off the side. We were told our return point was on the left bank after the 5th bridge. We had no time limit as long as we returned the canoe before they closed. There were several places to pull in along the bank if we wanted to stop and you can get in the water if you wanted too. It was even quite bearable. Just watch the currant. Great views of the castle at Beynac. There were snack bars and toilets if you needed them on the way. Part way down the river there was a man in the river taking photos if you wanted to buy them so take some change. We are here for 2 weeks so we are planning to go again next week

We went on a 5-hr canoe ride, stopped for lunch at La Guiguette for a fab duck meal, then canoed to La Roque, stopped for ice cream, then finished at Butterfly Canoe. The service was friendly & efficient. We will be using their service again every year:-)

Départ prévu à 11h avec demande d être au lieu de départ pour 10h30. Départ réel en bus a 11h10. 3/4 d heure d attente donc. Puis arrivée a VITRAC a 11h50 et le temps de s équiper nouvelle attente car nous étions nombreux dans le bus. Résultat pour un départ prévu a 11h départ réel sur l eau a 12h15…un parcours donné pour 3 h avec retour imposé à la 17h au plus tard. Du départ à la chaîne depuis le bus jusqu aux premiers coups de pagaies, le process est tres bien rodé , le bétail n a plus qu à suivre. Canoë business.

Alles was prima geregeld. Je wordt naar het start punt gebracht en kan op je eigen tijd naar het eind punt roeien. Prima service en zeer vriendelijk personeel. Top dag gehad.

Le dépliant écrit départ à 9h, mais sur place nous attendons plus d'une heure, avant qu'un chauffeur de bus arrive tranquillement; puis nous partons pour Vitrac. Résultat la descente de Dordogne commence à 11h15 !! Ce qui n'est pas la bonne heure avec le soleil qui chauffait très vite. Tout le temps du matin qui est le plus appréciable pour observer les oiseaux et profiter du frais, est loupé ! C'est bien dommage. Les autres organismes proposent des départs tôt le matin.

Nous avons vécu un pure moment de plaisir en famille dont 2 enfants de 5 et 12 ans. La température frôlait les 37 degré mais la rivière était le lieu où il fallait être. Merci pour cette activité

Accueil super sympa. Personnes agréables et souriantes. Rando au top. On a fait celle de 12 km. Les points de vue sont magnifiques. On peut se baigner tout le long de la Dordogne. Je continuerai la prochaine fois vers le coin le plus sauvage en direction des Milandes. Je recommande les canoës Butterfly.
