There is only one word to describe our food tasting tour with Nelli -AMAZING!! From the moment we met Nelli she made us feel like friends. Her knowledge of the basis of Hungarian cuisine was limitless. She took time to understand us before guiding us through all the basic ingredients that would go into genuine Hungarian dishes. This was followed by both food, wine and Palinka. All finished off with Chimney cake. All of which was done with a huge smile and great enthusiasm. Having been on a food tasting tour with Nelli we can now understand why everybody thinks she is so good. She would be worth a higher rating than excellent, if there was one. To anybody thinking about going food tasting with Nelli, do not hold back. You will find it both enlightening and eye opening.

My friends and I took Nellie’s Budapest Food Tour in April 2024. We had a fantastic experience! Nellie took us to many places around Budapest and we tasted fabulous food and saw interesting places. She is passionate about making sure everyone had a great experience and she connected the food to stories about the history of the country. The food from Goulash Soup to Chimney Cakes were very tasty. The best part of the trip was Nellie’s personality and passion. I would recommend this trip to anyone traveling to Budapest.

The best way to see and learn about a city is going on a food tour. Six of us toured with Nelli and had so much fun eating, drinking and learning about the food and culture. We loved the food we had at the market so much that we went back the next day to eat some more. Nelli is warm, friendly, lively and very knowledgeable. I wished we had more time as I would have liked for Nelli to be our tour guide throughout Budapest.

I am super excited to set up zooming cooking classes with her from home to put my authentic hungarian paprika to use and try to recreate some of the delicious food we had in budapest!! Nellie and this tour is a must do while you are in Budapest!! If we had known how great of an experience this was going to be we would have scheduled multiple tours with Nellie!! Nelli greeted the four of us with a big Hungarian smile just outside the great central market where she promptly oriented us to the customs, tastes and ingredients that most influence Hungarian cuisine. We toured the local area, shopped the paprika vendors, laughed over a beer, toasted to the Hungarian people with shots of palinka, tasted picked vegetables , jams, fruits, sausages, salami and artisanal breads. We enjoyed goulash soup from one of the food stalls in the market …fried breads from a local nearby shop and chimney bread of sugar and walnuts from a street vendor. We left enchanted by Nelli, so appreciative of the Hungarian people, more informed about the culture and completely satiated by the experience!!! Do yourself a favor and book with Nelli. We loved our time In Budapest, but Nelli added just the right flavors to cap it all off!

Really had a great tour, sights, sounds and smells we would never have experienced without Nellie. She is super knowledgeable and friendly, knew many of the various vendors we visited, got us great local food and explained what made the cuisine so unique. Definitely a highlight of our visit to Budapest. We recommend her very highly and would definitely do It again!

Thank you Nelli for such a great day out. Not only did we Eat and Drink Hungarian. We also learnt a lot about the History of Hungary and Budapest. The tour of the Fővám tér market was amazing - the selection of Foods and products on offer was an eye opener. on the upper floor we ate Chicken Papakha and Gulyás from the Panoráma Ételbár. Then onto the Jewish Quarter where we ate Sausage's with a Local Rose wine at Belvárosi Disznótoros. a short walk across the road for where we ate Langos topped with Sour Cream, Garlic & Cheese plus a Chimney cake from local street vendors. Thoroughly recommend this tour for anyone - young or old that loves food. definitely the highlight of our holiday.

OMG, we have loved every second of our very yummy and informative Food tasting tour with Nelli. We tasted the best Goulash soup ever at the market and everything after that was just fantastic. Nelli is a great and super knowledgeable tour guide and we have learned many valuable things while eating our way through Budapest. We now cannot wait do do an online cooking class with her.
