I was very hesitant to book an 8 hour tour since it was our first time to Budapest but Timea Tarjani was the perfect guide. I have been on many tours but this was by far the best tour I have had the pleasure to attend. We were able to see and learn more of the culture, history and city that we ever would have been able to on our own. The pace, narration and timing was exceptional. We were able to avoid many of the crowds for a more intimate experience. Our only regret was that we didn't have more time in Budapest to spend with our guide. I highly recommend booking a tour with Timea. She is simply the best!

My time with Timea was the highlight of my trip to Budapest. We did a four hour tour of the Jewish quarter and other Jewish sites in Budapest. Timea was extremely knowledgeable and interesting and her English is excellent. She also shared some of her family’s experiences which really personalized the tour. Great tour with a really knowledgable guide. It was our firat time in Budapest so Timea adjusted things as we went and effortlessly blended together Hungarian history, architecture and general sightseeing with our Jewish tour which made for a really excellent 1st day in Budapest. We really enjoyed.

My husband and I had only one day to do some sightseeing in Budapest. We wanted our day to have some focus but did not want to be herded around in some large touristy group. I can't say enough great things about Timea as a guide. First, she is warm & friendly. Second, she is exceptionally knowledgable about all aspects of the city. Third, she speaks English perfectly. During the 4+ hours we spent together together walking leisurely through the city, Timea led us around Budapest's most significant points of interest while enlightening us about the city's and country's history, pointing out its architectural highlights, and engaging us in a wide-ranging conversation along the way. We spent some time at the Shoes on the Danube memorial, reflecting on its significance. We then headed into the Jewish Quarter where we saw the last remnants of the ghetto wall, we visited 3 magnificent synagogues, examined buildings, architecture and the hidden meaning of the artistry in the neighborhood that we never would have seen or understood just by reading a guidebook or being led in a large group. We felt as though we have made a friend in Timea and hope to return to spend more time in that magical city. Timea made it a truly memorable experience. As such, her tour is a must-do when in Budapest.

Our guide Timea was extremely knowledgeable and eager to not only answer our many questions but also dive deeper into discussion about what we were seeing and learning. She was generous to share general information about the beautiful city of Budapest.

If you wish a tour of Budapest and especially the Jewish Quarter than there is no one better than Timi. Her dedication and support of Jewish life past, present and future in Budapest is unsurpassed. My wife and I cannot have had a nicer day than we had with Timi seeing the Synagogues and Jewish Quarter. Words can not truly express how amazing spending the day with Timea was for us. As she shared her city with us, the love for Budapest shined, especially when we visited the Jewish Quarter. We did not feel like I was spending the day with a "tour guide." We felt like I spent the day with a friend.

Timi was an outstanding guide. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable, but her English is outstanding and she is a lovely person. We learned about the history of the community by seeing small nooks and crannies not visible from the street. Her insights on the architecture were really interesting. She adapted the tour for my sore back so we could visit all the highlights. We received great restaurant recommendations too. She also spoke about life in Hungary today. I can't imagine a better guide to this wonderful city.

My husband and I went on an amazing half-day private walking tour with Timea Tarjani in late October. We learned and saw so much from our exploration of the Jewish Quarter and from our stimulating conversation with Timea throughout the 4 hour tour. We visited the two main synagogues together and wandered the streets of the area where Jews lived in the past and are still living, along with all the bars and restaurants. Timea shared some of her personal life experiences and we shared some of ours. She tailored the walk to our interests and showed us lots of architectural gems that we would have missed on our own. During the tour Timea promised to send us some resources and links for our further reading, and she did so the very same evening that we had our tour. We are grateful to have met Timea and glad we were able to spend time with her on this tour. We highly recommend Timea as a tour guide!

Timea's tour was the highlight of our trip! She is so personable and knowledgeable. She shared stories from her own family's experiences and made all that we saw come alive. We loved that she shared her personal perspectives with us. We never would have seen so much or understood what we did see without her knowledge and insights. By the time we finished the tour we felt like we had met a long lost family member. We cannot recommend her highly enough. We look forward to coming back to Budapest and meeting up with Timea again.

Timea was amazing! Communication leading up to the tour was superb. Timea took the time to understand our wants for the tour and customized the itinerary accordingly. Her knowledge of the local history and her personal stories made it even more interesting. The tour was educational and entertaining--felt like we learned alot about the modern history of Hungary and Budapest Jewry. We loved the tour and really enjoyed the time we spent together with Timea.

Timea was wonderful! We booked her for our first day in Budapest and so glad we did! She was a wealth of knowledge about the history of Jews in Hungary. She is an educator and you can tell how passionate she is about sharing the story of Jews in Budapest. She was able to keep our twin children engaged the entire time. Our tour was on a rainy day, but that didn’t deter us from learning so much and touring several synagogues as well as the remaining wall of the Jewish ghetto. Timea also helped us plan out the remainder of our time in Budapest with helpful suggestions and tips. As promised, she followed up with several links, websites and a plethora of information for us to peruse. She recommended restaurants, shopping for our teens, and other activities that were must-do. Highly recommend Timea- you won’t regret it!

I was pleasantly surprised at the detail and depth given by the local guide. I’m not sure if she was Jewish, but here knowledge of Jewish history and culture in Budapest was first class. Although the Jewish quarter is small, located around central Budapest, the history is deep. This 2-2.5 hr walking tour helped my understanding of early Jewish settlement in the area and the horrors for Jews in 1944.
