Not suitable for non Spanish speaker. The guide doesn't know English and it didn't help that he had others Spanish speakers join at the last minute who obviously had much more fluency and comfort with the language. Ultimately, I didn't end up getting to see anything because we kept on going on different paces, with on bikes and verbally. Obviously also, don't go for this unless you are used to mountain biking in hot weather. Unfortunately, a total bust and loss of money for me

Maurice and Zola were excellent tour guides . We had 5 on the tour. We went to chemula and Zinacantán. One has to be in reasonable shape for this tour. Maurice took care of everybody and I felt safe and taken care of. Good quality mountain bikes in good repair. The visit to the two indigenous towns was personal when we got to duck into a kitchen and eat lunch with the local Tzotil tribe made from an authentic cooking fire set up. I liked biking through the vegetable fields and watching the Tzotil people harvesting and seeing the dramatic mountains surrounding these towns . The hills are hard to bike up and I had to walk a little but to me that was no big deal

This was a remarkable way to see the countryside. What we hadn't understood was that it was partly on mountain bike trails. We were experienced road cyclists but not mountain biking. We couldn't do the last 5 km due to it being so technical and way above our skill level. That said, our guides, Fernando and Nata were wonderful and very understanding of our lack of skill! The church in Chuluma was beautiful and fascinating to be able to observe the rituals. Felt very honoured to be allowed into this community.

Very nice ride. Got to see interesting unusual celebration with fireworks in front of the church in Chamula.

The tour was really fun (albeit exhausting) and the destinations were fantastic! Much nicer to arrive in a small group to those places than with a minibus full of people, I loved the breakfast in a village home that was just made for the three of us. Our guide spoke very basic English but we managed quite well with a mix of our Spanish and his English. :) Would definitely recommend this tour although I have to admit since we went in the dry season, the landscapes were not as pretty and green as they are in the pictures (but obviously that has nothing to do with the tour itself).

Maurice is an enthusiastic bicyclist. He made our ride very enjoyable. He carefully routed us out of town and away from traffic. The bikes were well maintained. He was very safety conscious.

We were the only two going for the bike tour this day and we had the friendliest and nicest guide! We totally controlled the tempo, if we wanted to stop for a break or to take pictures. We had such a great day! Even though it was a tough day 🥵😂 some of the mountain streches are pretty steep and you bike for 2-3 hours. However, if you like feeling that you are alive, combined with the very cultural visits in the two communities this is definitely the tour for you! If we had more time we would definitely had done a tour more!

If you like to be active and want to explore the indigenous villages and more rural sites of the area I cannot recommend this tour more. The views were amazing! My tourguide was Luis, he explained a lot about the region and was really helpful with his clear handsignals during mountainbiking. The tour takes about 5 hours and you have time to visit the churches and see the rituals performed in Chamula. You can bike at your own pace and take pictures whenever you want. Had the best experience!

Our tour guide Josué was excellent. He was friendly, kind, intelligent and bi-lingual. The tour was fascinating. It was inspiring to learn more about the indigenous cultures and their belief systems. The bike ride was full of hills (up and down).

This is an outstanding way to see another side of local culture. You may come away with an unforgettable new understanding of this rich and complex country. Our guide was 10/10. Great local knowledge, excellent English, very professional, strong connection with the locals and able to communicate with nuance. What we saw was excellent. First an unvarnished ride though backstreets, and then after about an hour of riding, we came to a fascinating town, the highlight of which was a visit to a 500 year old church where locals practiced an fascinating (extraordinary) mix of Mayan traditions and Catholicism. I’ve seen a lot, but nothing like this. The second stop was a cultural visit to a home where we saw traditional weaving and women cooking traditionally. There was an opportunity to buy local textiles, with little pressure. We preferred to buy there, directly from the women who made the items. The ride we chose was 35km (22mi) and we did it in a very leisurely 6 hrs. This ride is not challenging for a fit adult or teenager. Our teenager ended up walking the steepest hills. The bikes were great. (Only one of the bikes had a women’s seat, we needed two. I suggest they routinely offer women’s seats before setting off. We realised too late.) This was a highlight of our visit. I strongly recommend it.

In short: breathtaking views, great guide and a challenge. As two not experienced mountain bikers, our guide Josué took extra close care of us, adjusting the level/speed to our capabilities. Even though we work out 6 times a week, the ride was challenging due to the altitude. We booked the 20K tour, but with an option to extend to 32k, which we did in the end. Josué speaks very well English and provided us with local in-dept information no other guide was able to provide us during our trip. He took us to Chamula where we experienced a ceremony in the church that will always stick with us - so special!

My guide Luis was very nice and did his best to answer all of my many questions. I am on the fit side of things but usually not “a biker” so the incline at this altitude was sometimes tough. All in all it was a beautiful day and I do recommend it!

Josué lead us safely through San Cristobal and up to Chamula. With several stops on the way he explained a lot about the mayan culture. He‘s very well in English. After visiting the church we had some time to explore the local market. On the way back even a short single-trail. Thanks for this great experience. Definitely a must do at San Cristobal de las Casas !

Josue our guide was amazing. He knows a lot and helps you get through the rougher parts of the trip. The landscape is absolutely amazing and the route is perfect. As mentioned it can be quite hard if you‘re not very fit. But it‘s defintely worth it and a must do if you‘re in San Cristobal!

This was my very first mountain biking experience for me and my girlfriend and I couldn't be more impressed. Our tour guide, Josue, was extremely informative, spoke great English, and took his time to explain all the areas and sights we came across. I would highly recommend this tour while visiting San Cristobal!

Amazing tour! It was intense... lots of hills to climb, and at a couple points I had to walk the bike... but my guide Josué was incredibly accommodating. Great views, amazing meal, friendly and knowledgeable guide. I highly recommend this tour. Do note that, among the tours offered by Jaguar Adventures, this is one of the advanced ones. They do have options for less intense ones, and I'd take one of those if I had to do it over again. I'm glad it was only me on the tour because I would have slowed people down. And mind you, I've since 100 km rides... but not with such steep inclines.
