Jim took us on a marvelous walking tour on 20 April 2024. His extensive knowledge and historical perspective were greatly appreciated. We were very impressed with his depth of knowledge and brought to life the history of Belfast.

My husband, son, and I were on Jim’s “Best of Belfast” walking tour and it was terrific! We learned so much. Covered two miles, a lot of the downtown area—City Hall, Bank Street, St. Ann’s Cathedral, waterfront, Prince Albert Clock. Jim really knows his stuff and presents it in a very professional and enjoyable manner. He could answer any question that was put to him. The earphone setup was very helpful. Took a little break halfway through, which was wonderful in terms of the pacing. The cost of the tour was VERY reasonable—I would consider it a bargain considering the quality of the presentation as well as its length. Would highly recommend this walking tour.

This is a fabulous tour! Paul was amazing and was able to make the tour very accessible as well as nuanced. He extensive knowledge (personally and historical) made the tour. I went with a group of Public History Students. He is exactly the type of Public Historian we should all want to be!

A very informative walking tour. Jim our guide was extremely informative and helpful. Jim took he’s time to answer any questions and describe in full the main bars, places of interest, eateries, statues, bridges and history, past, present and future of Belfast. I felt totally inspired from what I had seen on the television when growing up in London in the 1970’s to where Belfast is now. A credit to Ireland and all the wonderful people who live in this great place. As Jim mentioned, there is still a way to go but it’s all going in the right direction. I would recommend this guided walking tour as some of the places Jim highlighted would not be possible on a guided bus tour. Thank you Jim and DC tours.

We opted for the Best of Belfast Walking Tour, and we were not disappointed. The guide Jim, was both interesting and knowledgeable, displaying a knack of making the history of Belfast come to life. He answered all questions and taking us off the beaten track was able to explain in detail how the different communities have come together to make Belfast a City to be proud of. Many thanks to Jim and DC Tours, Graham & Denise.

Great tour with Steve hearing about and seeing the landmarks that made Belfast the city it is today with a focus on how the Protestant and Catholic community worked together to better their environment. I know! Who knew lol. Steve was so informative and interesting, I loved hearing all the connections and history especially as I live and work in Belfast, including six years working on Rosemary Street, one of our stops. The last stop and summary of the tragic events of the Titanic finished off a lovely few hours with Steve and the other guests, I'd really recommend this tour as a starting point for a trip to Belfast, we're not all about the Troubles you know!

Once you arrive in Belfast, before all else, take the Best of Belfast Walking Tour. Of course, you're keen to do the "best things" in Belfast such as Titanic or one of the "Troubles" tour. BUT to really appreciate some of Belfast's great experiences, you'll enjoy them much more so once you have the context. By taking the Best of Belfast tour,  you'll learn about contemporary Belfast, politics today, the emerging creative scene, the burgeoning food culture plus of course it's complex history. Listening to your guide, as we did,  it really helped to understand how Belfast developed, its complex religious traditions and so on. Steve Malone, a Belfast native, was our guide; hugely informative, thoroughly impartial coupled a great sense of humour. And while Belfast was one of the key centres of the Troubles, you'll also learn about the many people who worked behind the scenes to build cross-community initiatives that are seldomed known or acknowledged. With this tour completed, you'll better understand Belfast in all its aspects: its complex troubled past though,  more importantly, its vibrant present and hopeful future. Highly recommended!

Absolutely loved the tour! Steve was a phenomenal guide with vast knowledge and good vibes. First time in Belfast and this is a fantastic introduction to the city and its history & cultural significance — pointed out things we’d otherwise be unaware of. Steve was also good at connecting bits of history together and defining their significance. 11/10 Thank you!

Excellent tour with our hugely knowledgeable guide Steve. He shared so much fascinating history about the city, in an engaging & humorous way. 3 hours flew by and we saw parts of Belfast we would never have found on our own. Steve linked the past with the recent regeneration of Belfast to provide a fair and positive view of the city. Great tour with a great guide. Highly recommended
