This cooking class was so much fun! My husband and I try and do cooking classes with each trip we take and this was one of the best! You make so many different types of food during this class and have a delicious and filling lunch once it is complete. Learning how to do tempura and roll your own sushi are just so of the highlights. If you love to cook, this experience is definitely for you. The instructors are very helpful and it is so easy to follow the recipes. You are given copies of the recipes to take home with you as well!

This class is very organized and you get to cook and eat a wide variety of Japanese foods. There were three people teaching our group of 10 and all spoke very good English and were friendly. We requested ahead of time to have vegan dishes and they were very responsive to our needs during the class. They even asked if dashi (fish based broth) was okay. Overall a wonderful experience.

A fantastic experience for me (an experienced cook) and my husband (a non-cook). We were very lucky to have a class to ourselves and learnt some lovely tricks from the chef, who was calm, gentle and absolutely delightful. Highly recommended.

Both instructors were excellent and even shared their grandmothers techniques (like washing vegetables in soy sauce). They were also very easy to understand - cooking was lots of fun. We made several dishes that we will make again at home.

I always enjoy this time of small class cooking class. Participants share a cooking station and learn to make a variety of foods that can be replicated back home. It made for a perfect lunch!

This was a great beginner cooking class for Japanese food! The best part was getting tips and tricks for making your own dashi and when to use different color soy sauces.

An excellent course. I do love a cooking course when on holiday - great way to gain some skills, get into the culture and meet some locals. This did all three and was a great lunch as well! Who knew teriyaki chicken was so easy!

Super yummy and super fun! Naomi was so sweet and gave us so many tips on how to prepare the food. Even food I had made before, I had come away with new fun knowledge on how to prepare it and I'm excited to make this food again at home! Such a wholesome experience and a great way to start the day.

This class was one of our favourite activities during our trip to Japan! The hosts spoke good english and were incredible at demonstrating and giving background to the food we were making. Our bento boxes turned out beautifully and the whole process was a very satisfying, when we got to eat the food we had created! Would definitely recommend!

I enjoyed learning how to make simple Japanese dishes, especially the chicken teriyaki since I had a lot of trouble in the past making it.

Definitely a 5/5 experience for us ! We had the most amazing ladies teaching the class who were so knowledgeable and helpful. We loved learning about what we were making and left the class with a whole new skill set. I couldn’t recommend enough for anyone confiding this experience or wanting more out of their trip to Kyoto!!

My husband and I took this class together after I had taken another class with Cooking Sun and he then wanted to try the class. Once again we both loved the class and found the teachers to be excellent at giving instructions, being extremely well organized, and giving us the history and understanding a little of the Japanese thoughts on eating. You were able to ask all the questions that you might have especially around sushi and the why's and how to's. The result of the cooking were delicious and everyone in the class was very proud of what we managed to make. All in all it is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon and come away with a little knowledge and a full stomach!

We absolutely loved this class! It was fun to learn the ingredients and especially wonderful to talk to and learn from our host. The layered egg roll was fun to make. Make sure that you're hungry!

This was one of our favorite activities during our two weeks in Japan. The ladies who taught the session were very fun and we truly all learned so much. I’m back in the US and I’ve already ordered special cooking chopsticks, sushi mats and omelette pans so we can recreate at home. I’d definitely 100% recommend.

A well organized and fun class. There was a nice variety of dishes and the teachers were very attentive. There were two children -11 and 13- and they did great.

The three ladies giving the cooking class were all very friendly, patient and humorous. There was a good balance between getting instructions and explanation and cooking yourself. The fun part is that you really get to cook many different meals by yourself in this class. And in the end of course it was time for lunch and it was delicious 😋.
