This was an amazing experience and worth every single penny, and the early start! Our guide Maik was wonderful and gave us a really tailored experience. His English was very good and made sure all of us were ok on the way up. It's a difficult hike but it's over fairly quickly and really worth it for the amazing views. You can take a horse to the top though if you want. Breakfast and lunch were both very yummy, the van was very comfortable and the driver was also great. I felt very looked after. Thank you!

We were skeptical booking this tour as we expected to end up with lots of other tours at the lake at the same time. The early start meant that we had the lake entirely to ourselves for about 40 minutes! Junior, our tour guide, was amazing. He met us at the door of our hotel, he was friendly, helpful and knew every answer to every question we had. We ended up being alone with him on the tour so effectively had a private tour (probably just due to no one else booking the same day). Thankyou Exploorperu, we definitely would recommend.

Our guide Grisita was FANTASTIC!! She and I hiked while the rest of the group took the horse ride. She was a trooper and I appreciated her love for the outdoors and local knowledge she shared. The hike is strenuous due to the steep ascend and high elevation BUT well worth it!! Safe travels and hope you enjoy!!

Fantastic views at the lake! Worth getting there early. It’s not an easy trek, but our guide Vidal was very encouraging and accommodating. Worth noting the drive from Cusco is a bit long and bumpy, but if you can manage the car sickness, it’s a worthwhile trip while in the area.

Junior gave us a perfect tour! Could not have been any better! He was on time and I know it was super early for everyone and he showed up with a happy and welcoming attitude! Front the moment we met, I felt at ease. He let us know he was going to take care of my husband and I. My husband had been really sick with the altitude and Junior had oxygen for him. He was also very kind, compassionate, and never rushed my husband. We spent hours at the mountain just talking about random things about Peru and I could feel the love Junior had for his country and people. My only mistake was not letting Junior take me on every tour while in Peru.

Booked this tour and was ready and waiting at 3am but no one turned up. Waited until 4am and tried contacting the company but none of the numbers would work. It was too late for us to rebook with another operator so had to miss out on seeing this which I was really excited about.

This was the last tour on my fiance and I’s Peruvian vacation and while we loved all that we did in Peru Exploor’s level of communication and organization was next level! We received detailed info upon booking, within a couple weeks from our tour, and they introduced us to our guide via WhatsApp prior to the tour. The tour itself was well organized and without any undisclosed tourist trap stops like some other tours have. The 3:00am start time is completely worth it, we basically had the lake to ourselves for the entire hour or so we were up there. Our guide, Carlos, had a background in ecological sciences, which we feel like really added extra depth to the info he shared with us during the tour. I also liked how it was clear that he is very intuitive when assessing his group’s abilities and adjusts the hike accordingly (giving the option for a harder path, recommending horses for anyone who may need them, etc). He also gave me great hiking tips along the way that made the trek way more manageable like taking more smaller steps instead of less bigger steps since it exerts more energy. If you’re considering the Humantay Lake Tour, do it and definitely book with Exploor and request Carlos. Couldn’t recommend more!

Great guide, decided to use the horses to ascend rather than walk, the horses looked well cared for and looked after. Would have taken a lot longer if we had walked so where able to spend more time relaxing at the lake. Although an early start I would recommend this tour over others as we were one of the first groups there.

This was one of the best days we had in Peru. Humanity lake seems too beautiful to be real until you are standing there. Maik was very courteous and thoughtful- and he made sure we were all comfortable the entire trek. He shared all the information and answered all of our questions, and made sure we all had plenty of good quality pictures to take with us to remember the experience. Even though this is an EARLY day- I am absolutely grateful-- this was a trip like no other.

Mike was an excellent tour guide who kept us on schedule and comfortable for the whole trip. We had an amazing time riding horses up to the ridge, and just as promised, we beat the crowds. one of the most stunning views i have ever seen. Because we rode the horses, we had even more time to enjoy the views from one of the ridge lines. Absolutely worth every cent. If you have any doubt about your ability to complete the hike, definitely take the horses. You won't regret it. Mike, thanks again, and hope you had a good day off ;)

I loved this trip and would recommend it to anyone. The early pick up was rough and had me questioning my sanity. But it was so worth it because our group was the second group at the lake. We had the whole lake to ourselves for over an hour to relax, eat our breakfast, drink our coffee and take pictures. Junior was a fantastic guide and he took some amazing pictures on my iPhone for me! The food was excellent! Lake Humantay should not be missed on your Peru trip!

Lake Humantay is as amazing as in the pictures and we got to experience it as winter wonderland due to a snow from the night before. Junior our tour guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. Assisted us throughout the whole hike, definitely recommend this tour and Junior!

The tour was amazing! The views are breathtakingly beautiful! Vidal is a wonderful guide - very friendly, informative and kind. He was also very organized and punctual. The 3am start with a smaller group is definitely worth it as we were the first ones at the lake long before the other (larger) tour groups started trickling up the mountain. Would definitely recommend this tour.

The view and being with few other visitors is definitely worth the efforts of going up. The lunch at the local restaurant was very taste and with an amazing view over the valley

Got picked up at 3am with Vidal. The early start was definitely worth it, as we arrived at the Lake at 7:30am. We were the only people there for 30 minutes, letting us freely wander around, take pics, and soak it all in with nobody else around. Weather was absolutely gorgeous, and Vidal was the perfect guide. He provided lots of knowledge and answered all questions we had throughout the day.

Although the 3am pickup was a challenge for my husband and me, Carlos knew what he was doing as we were the first people to arrive at Lake Humantay and we had it all to ourselves for at least 30 minutes. The change in altitude slowed us down, but Carlos, and another traveler with us (there were only three of us on this breathtaking journey), were very patient and waited for us when necessary. The tripadvisor ratings are correct - this was a magnificent tour!

It's already a couple of weeks ago, however we are still talking about our trip with a big smile on our faces. Our guide was Junior and he is the best! He picked us up early for our private tour. What an amazing experience to be there so early with no other tourist, to have breakfast with the best view ever just all alone and to learn more about the birds as well. We never make pictures and even though I said no when Junior asked, when I saw the pictures he made, I changed my mind and we even now have a couple of great pictures together, because of Junior. We advise everybody to go on a tour with Exploor. Yes, you need to get up early however its all worth it when you get there and you are all alone. Thank you again Junior.

What an unforgetable experience ! We were literally the only ones up there, having this stunning view for ourselves. Daniel, our guide,was charming, knowledgeble and flexible. He told us some interesting stories about shamans and Peruvian traditions which was sooo interesting and special to hear. Also he taughed us how to chew coca leaves,the way locals do. We had a really good time together, even after the tour ! Basically, It was worth every cent. On our way back we saw the crowd of people starting their hike. Once again, got really happy picking this tour. Youll have to get up early,however you wont regret it and its gonna be 10x more special.

This tour is well worth the early wakeup! I was so impressed by the tours I did with Exploor and how organized and efficient they are. Vidal led my group to Humantay Lake and from the start to finish he provided an amazing tour! The lake is beautiful, the lunch was great and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide in Vidal!

This was easily one of the top highlights of my Peru trip. Don’t be turned off by the 3am pick up, it is totally worth it. We were truly the first to arrive at the lake and had well over an hour to ourselves before massive crowds arrived. It is even more beautiful in person. I rode a horse up for 80 soles (must hike yourself the way down), all of which Vidal helped us organize. Breakfast was a bit basic but lunch was a delicious cooked meal in the most beautiful setting overlooking the mountains. The bus was the cleanest and most comfortable we’ve had out of all our tours in Peru. Exploor even let me change the date of our tour free of charge given my altitude sickness upon arrival in Cusco. Vidal then checked on me multiple times, very attentive to each guest during the tour. Vidal was so warm, friendly, knowledgeable and clearly enjoys his job. His energy is positive and that makes a big difference for the group. Don’t think twice, book this tour (and hope you get him as a guide!).
