Gani was knowledgeable, had a fantastic sense of humour and a super intelligent tour guide. The entire tour was 2.5 hours but it felt like a breeze since it was soo smooth and fun. I particularly enjoyed the picture he carried along explaining the long lost history and cultural influences part of the history. Definitely recommend doing this tour as your first activity when you land in the city of Baku.

I did the free walking tour on a Saturday morning in March. The tour lasted 2.5 hours starting at Fountains Square, walking through the old city and then around the walls outside of the old city and back to Fountains Square. 13 people had signed up, but only 7 showed up. Gani was our guide. Gani is local, very experienced and very pleasant. He managed to make the whole tour very interesting and interactive without any boring moments. He could answer convisingly any random question that was fired at him, and provide very informative and interesting background on anything that had to do with the history, culture, religion and politics of both the past and present Azerbajian. I particularly enjoyed the many maps and pictures that he showed us, especially the photos of old Baku in contrast with the current situation at the same locations, which was eye opening. The tour does not include entrance to any museums or sights (e.g. Maiden Tower, Shirvanshahs Palace, etc.), except the free miniature books museum, but provides you with all the information you need to then visit all such places within the old city on your own. At the end of the tour we were provided with a paper providing tips for restaurants, shopping etc. and Gani answered all our specific questions about what else to visit, what to buy and where etc. All in all, this was one of the best walking tours I have ever taken, even more so considering that it was free. But please remember to tip at the end if you are happy with it.

Informative and interesting tour. Gani was a fantastic guide. Best we've had in Azerbaijan. We never felt bored or disinterested throughout the 2 and half hours. He told interesting facts in a comical way and included legends about some of the landmarks which we really loved. After the tour Gani recommended some of the more authentic and affordable restaurants which we ended up loving.

The guide tour of the old city of Baku was very informative and interesting. Gani who was our guide was very knowledgeable and an in-depth know of Azerbaijan history and the cultural impact of Ottomans, Persians, Russians and the West when they came to Azerbaijan when oil was discovered. Strongly recommend to join him in exploring the richness of Baku and Azerbaijan culture.

The trip was really nice. Gani was very informative and helpful even later in giving us details of local activities. We greatly enjoyed the walk.

My friend and I took the free walking tour in Baku and we had an excellent time. These tours only and only depend on how good your guide is and in our case it was the famous “Gani” about whom we had read good reviews even before coming to Baku. So the tour was very informative, crisp and fun. The history of the country was beautifully presented by Gani and his perspectives were also very interesting to know. I highly recommend this tour to anyone going to Baku and looking for an insight into its history and culture along with some good laughs!

We’ve been to Azerbaijan a week or so and had many tours, but this one was my favorite. The charisma and passion of the guide had left me speachless❗️ We loved every minute of it. It’s a must. So if you have two and a half hours to explore the inner town, choose this one.

Even if someone has 3 days to visit Baku, they must get to know the city in the best way possible during the tour. The interaction and exchange of views with Gani and fellow travelers has been a highlight of my stay. This gave me the chance to see the bylanes and know the city from a localite's point of view. Gani is extremely knowledgeable , patient and kind and answers all the questions that his group has . He also goes the extra mile by providing recommendations about places to visit, restaurants to go to, food to try and how to utilize the holiday time in the most enjoyable way. His advice to not rush through all the places of interest to cover some kind of checklist actually helped me in discovering new places that I had not expected. I look forward to visiting BAKU already and know more about the city and be a part of other tours and activities that he plans

Gani our guide was excellent. He was so knowledgeable and made the walk round the old town fun. We were taken to all the main sights. The tour covered history, architecture, stories etc. Tips on where to eat were given. Gani was very willing to answer all our questions.
