We have always wanted to go to the Artic Circle. Being in Fairbanks gave us the chance to do so. It was a very beautiful drive and little scary on the icy Dalton Highway. Our driver Randall was very good. On the way back to Fairbanks he stopped several times for us to view the aurora lights.

At the start, It took 1 hour to pickup 14 people. Then, driver stopped at Costco for gas before starting the tour. Uncomfortable bench seats no headrest. Bus was like a hotel shuttle with bench seating. Other artic circle tours had comfy seats with back support in sprinter vans Tour said there would be hot drinks but it never happened Bathroom stops sometimes 4 hours in between. Not bad for me but some of the ladies were not happy with hanging it out in 2 degree weather. No listed itinerary for the trip so no idea what was going to happen and when. driver not helpful so we stopped drinking water because we never knew when the next bathroom break would be. Tour took 16 hours when it was billed as 14. Not good sightseeing trip as we only saw 2 birds Didn't see aurora but that's not the company's fault

Wendy was an amazing guide with wonderful and engaging anecdotes that shared Alaska's culture and history. She was also very knowledgeable about all the sites we visited from the pipeline to the arctic circle. We experienced many natural wonders on our trip. We did not get to experience the aurora due to it being a cloudy night. However, tips from Wendy were super useful in us hunting them down the very next day with some luck.

Absolutely amazing adventure. I was a little nervous about being on the Dalton Highway, with its reputation as a dangerous road, but our driver, Ryan, had a lot of experience driving the highway and was well versed on proper road etiquette with the big trucks running that highway. Made us feel safe the entire way, and we were able to relax and just enjoy the journey. He also did a great job sharing his knowledge of Alaska. And we got one amazing light show at the end. Absolutely would recommend!

My friend and I did this adventure during the Thanksgiving break. The entire trip was filled with a lot of exciting site-seeing, learning about the unique way of life there and truly felt like an authentic Alaskan road trip experience with the beautiful winter landscapes throughout. The destination was incredible but the whole journey made it epic for us. We got really lucky with Ryan and Frank as our tour guides. Their knowledge and insight on everything was simply interesting and easy to follow. They answered all our questions and provided great guidance overall. We would highly recommend this tour.

It was Awesome trip and pick up was done on time and comfortable seating with enough breaks. Rowe did a good job and we could view Northern Lights as an additional bonus.

We really enjoyed our full day with Ryan!!! He was very informative, considerate, and helpful. We were able to sight some northern lights and visited some very interesting places! He also had great conversations with my husband who was reminiscing his day driving semi during oil pipeline ear! Thanks Ryan!😁

I have booked a 3 days tour from 1st Alaska Tours from 9/28 - 9/30. Bad Experience : On 9/30 we had a trip to the Arctic Circle. The van which was sent to us was in a bad condition compared to the one which we got earlier and compared to another vehicle which was driving along that day. Also, there were already 6 people in the van which we got and including us it made us 8 people. We were picked up at the end so we had to sit at the last row of the van which was very uncomfortable. It was a 12 hours long drive with bad road conditions. This was a very uncomfortable ride which resulted in severe back and neck pain for me. Also, there was van stuff which was kept on the floor of the last row. I think the 1st Alaska tour should not have given a poor condition van and should not have allowed people to sit on the last row of the van which are generally bumpy knowing the condition of the road. How do you expect people to sit there ? This was in-human, 1st Alaska tour should have limited number of guests OR should have provided an extra vehicle. On complaining about this at the start of the tour, I was given an option to cancel the tour and take a refund but this was not possible since i was coming from out of state for the 3 day tour with 1st Alaska tour. Also the guide/driver that day was very rude. I wont recommend Artic Circle tour. Good Experience : The other 2 tours - Aurora Viewing Lodge and Chena Hot Springs were good. Nick and Jo the guides were good.

Communication with 1st Alaska Tours was very easy with calling, emails and sending a message to them once you have your confirmation email. Ryan was our very personable driver/guide. He called us right before pickup time to let us know he was on the way. He arrived on time. Ryan was an excellent, cautious driver who made us feel safe while traveling. He has over the road truck driving experience which made us even more confident in his ability. Ryan has a happy, helpful disposition ; a very nice young man. He was able to give us some history of Alaska, Dalton Highway, the Alaskan Pipeline etc. He kept us informed with stops and what to expect when we arrived. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and rainy on our trip so we were unable to see the Northern Lights. It was a long trip from Fairbanks to the Artic Circle. We left at 1:00 pm and arrived back to our hotel at 3:30. All in all, it was a nice beginning to our Alaskan adventure. Thank you, Ryan for a job well done ! The Canupp family

Jeff was our guide. He was knowledgeable and nice and he drove nice and smartly up and back. The Arctic Circle was always on my bucket list and I fulfilled my wish the Alaskan way: a little rough, a little dirty and a little salty. Elsewhere you may read about our trip as a "one star" waste. The author of that myopic review was a petty, narrow minded and un-fun prima donna who apparently expected a ride in a caddy on paved roads in sublime sunshine. Ignore her. This trip was worth it and Jeff made it memorable.

A little disappointed it was only a sign when we arrived. Long drive on some challenging roads. Our driver Jeff was fantastic, polite, funny and managed those difficult roads in the rain. The pipeline and Yukon River were very interesting to see. Glad we went but don’t know that I would go again.

The office is great but Jeff the driver if you want to live don’t get on the bus. He doesn’t want to do this tour he rather be home, he doesn’t know the route so not sure of the stops. But driving is horrible 70 MPH around a wet 35MPH curves, sliding across mud in the rain. Racing down hills on dirt roads at 70 crossing a solid yellow line going 70 to pass a camper already speeding. Slinging the passengers around to where the seatbelt hitting the windows almost break them. This was the worst experience of my life. Scared and out of cell phone range there is not a thing you can do but hope you survive. It was to be a nice peaceful ride in Alaska on our first day of vacation but this wasn’t the experience we received. And with the bad weather the windows were muddy if you could or wanted to look out the window at top speed while you held on to the seat or pole in front of you, you couldn’t. All around he should not be a driver on the road as no one is safe.

Ryan was so knowledgeable and friendly. His driving was exemplary. He was courteous at all times and went out of his way to ensure we all had a great day. It was a VERY long day but we could all see that Ryan has made Alaska his home and loves showing everyone around this beautiful state. We could have done without the roadworks 😩 that added significantly to the time we were on the road and as we are at the end of a six week trip we are all exhausted but Ryan did everything in his power to make our trip to the Arctic Circle memorable.

Jake was our guide and he was very informative. It was a small group which is great for any tour. We also got to see some moose on the drive. It was absolutely amazing!

Delivered what was promised. 14 hour round trip to the Arctic Circle with a couple of stops on the way up and back. 10 guests in a 14 seater minibus, small seats with not much leg room. My seatbelt didn’t function properly and the air conditioning was not very effective. The driver/guide was primarily a driver with limited guiding skills/knowledge not helped by his headset not working properly making it difficult to hear what little he did say. However, he was an excellent, safe driver who handled the rough, challenging gravel road extremely well.

This is a very long tour, over 13 hours start to finish, so be prepared. We were picked up promptly at our hotel and stoped three times more for other guests before setting out. Stopped briefly to look at the Pipeline where Jake explained some the construction. Then a brief stop to buy drinks and snacks for the road and onward to the Dalton Highway. Stopped to view the sign where we were attacked by mosquitos. Warning, carry some bug spray or they will really annoy you. Here the highway turned into a dirt road that Jake navigated well, avoiding as many of the potholes as possible. 200 miles and 7 hours later we were at the Arctic Circle where we stayed to get the obligatory photos and back in the van for the return journey. We stopped a few times for bathroom breaks and got back to town around 9:00 pm. Jake was a very careful driver and knew his flora and fauna. However, he is not your typical extrovert tour guide type, which is not always a bad thing. Being a local he definitely knew what he was doing. Bottom line is a great tour but be prepared for a long day and pack the bug stray!

Our driver/tour guide, Jake, was perfect. He was very knowledgeable, easy to speak with, and has a great sense of humor. Our group felt he went out of his way to accommodate us and was constantly giving a little extra. So glad we took this trip to the Arctic Circle. We are ‘in the club!’

I don’t know if it was the tour or our guide but this is the least enjoyable tour I’ve ever taken. Our guide told us more about his personal life (ex girlfriend, kids he left In Alabama, wanting to be a ranger, his political views) than he did about the surrounding environmental or native culture. When stopping at different places he said a couple minute spiel and pointed to informational signs. Our tour went 14.25 hours and granted part of it was road construction but our guide also stood and talked to a ranger at one of the stops for over a half hour AFTER we were all back in the van. Yes we made it to the artic circle and took a pic but was 14 very unentertaining and uniformational hours worth it? Not for me. And I am a nature and learning fanatic.
